Songlines Page 36

by Carolyn Denman

  Acknowledgments

So the time has come when I can finally thank people properly for being so good to me (at least in regards to the creation of this book—no one wants to read the long list of people who have ever been nice to me, even if they happen to be on it). So here goes. Firstly, all my wonderful beta readers: Nickie, Kim, Maree, Zoe, Terri, Lyndel, Vron, Bianca, Hollie, Colin, Addie, Sophie, Al, Blaire, Alex, and Bek. Also Jemma, for her priceless advice on sheep farming.

Okay, so I know that is a lot of people, but some of us need a lot of help. The wide range of suggestions and opinions have been invaluable, and helped me to keep things in perspective. Without all your encouragement I never would have had the audacity to see this through.

I also owe a huge thank you to Sarah Endacott for helping me turn my manuscript into something worth submitting—I am learning so much from you.

Michelle Lovi of Odyssey Books deserves blessings untold, for putting her faith in this project and being so patient with me.

Lastly, I need to acknowledge my precious family: Miche, Brian, Dania, Arden and Paul, who couldn’t be more supportive if they held me up on stilts (except for that one time I made the girls late for gymnastics because Lainie was having issues getting her words right—sorry ’bout that, hope you didn’t have to do too many extra push-ups).

And if any of you readers have been interested enough to read through these boring bits, then thanks to you too. I hope I’ve added something to your day, because you’ve added a lot to mine.

  About the Author

Carolyn lives on a small hobby farm on the outskirts of Melbourne. She has a science degree, far too many pets and a fear of the ocean that makes her Mauritian mother roll her eyes. Somehow between her mortgage-broking job, driving her kids crazy (mostly by asking their friends’ opinions about the Singularity) and feeding sixty-three baby axolotls, she has managed to write short stories for Aurealis and Andromeda Spaceways magazines. She is currently working to complete the fourth and final book in The Sentinels of Eden and after that she has promised that she will finally vacuum the bedrooms.
