Saint & Sinner: A Second Chance Romance
Page 25
Brushing my hair out of my face, I jumped to my feet and began to march towards the men’s changing room. Without knocking I barged in.
“Hey!” I called out. “Hey!”
There was no response.
I stopped to listen and heard water running, so I immediately headed towards it and found him in a stall.
I pounded noisily on the door. “Hey!”
I was fuming, my chest nearly about to explode with anger. “How could you just leave me there? I could have died.”
The arrogant brute didn’t respond.
‘There’s something called basic human decency, you know. Like helping someone when they’re in need, especially when you’re the cause of their almost death in the first freaking place.” I kicked at the door to the stall.
The cascade of water ceased, and I froze. No doubt he was expecting me to run off, but I stood my ground and waited, ready to give him a piece of my mind the moment he came out.
True enough, the door to the stall was pushed open and he appeared.
“You owe me an apology—” I began but the next words, whatever I had planned to say, were snatched out of my head.
He was naked.
I was a civilized person and I had assumed, wrongly it would seem that he would emerge with a towel wrapped around his waist, instead he had deliberately appeared naked before me.
I pulled my jaw off the floor and shot my shocked gaze up to his face. Wow, without the goggles he carried the blue-green Caribbean ocean in his eyes. He was looking at me with an irritated expression as if I was a nuisance he could do without.
He took a step towards me and I instinctively, took a few steps backwards. It gave him the space he needed to turn left and walk away from me. It took few seconds before I recovered enough to get my brain working again. A feat given what I’d just seen.
The man, was hung like a damn horse!
I’d followed the tanned muscles of his torso, partitioned into perfectly, proportionate slabs and still glistening with the steam from his shower, and down there, shadowed with a dusting of dark hair across the top of his groin was cock. Half-raised as if in arousal, but it was probably just the stimulation from the shower. Not that I would know much about that.
Either way, the slightly paler shaft had been beyond impressive. It made me shiver to think of how it would look… and feel, when it was fully erect.
He hadn’t seemed even a little bit concerned that he was exposing himself to a complete stranger, and I knew then what his problem was; he was completely shameless. If he thought he could embarrass me into not speaking my mind because he had flashed me he had another think coming. I marched after him.
I found him seated on one of the benches in the locker room, and thankfully he was already covered in dark briefs. The arrogant stud didn’t even turn around to acknowledge my presence.
“You’re one of the bodyguards, aren’t you?”
He remained silent as he rose to his feet, and began to rummage through his locker.
I went on. “If you are, then you must know who I am. Why didn’t you help me?”
Silence.
I didn’t want to be that insufferable bitch no one liked, but I had already pursued the matter this far, and my pride needed a response.
“I can report this,” I threatened. “And there’s no way it’s not going to get you in trouble.”
He slammed the locker door shut, and I couldn’t help but jump.
“Sure,” he finally spoke. “Report that you couldn’t do something as basic as to get yourself out of the pool. Such incompetency would no doubt make your father proud.”
I was astounded. Robbed of speech all I could do was stare as he began to dress himself. First came his jeans, and then he carelessly pulled a dark tee over his head. He grabbed his bag and began to head out.
I recovered then, and jumped in front of him.
He stopped at the sudden ambush, a slight frown tugging at his brows.
Hell, up this close, he was really handsome with an aristocratic Roman nose, sensuous lips and those eyes. Those wonderful eyes. It made me wonder why I hadn’t seen him around. I even started to doubt he was one of the bodyguards that resided in the compound. I couldn’t imagine one of my father’s employees being so rude to his daughter. But if he wasn’t a bodyguard, who the hell was he?
“Apologize,” I said. “And then I’ll let this go.”
“Why do I owe you an apology?”
“You should have helped me.”
He shrugged those powerful shoulders. “I’m not obligated to do anything without your father’s instruction. And I did retrieve your phone.”
“Which you broke!” I accused. “You flung it on the tiles.”
“I don’t have time for this,” he said impatiently. “Get out of my way!"
“No, I’m not moving until you apologize.”
“Then you’re going to be here a very long time,” he drawled.
“What’s your name?” I demanded, getting exasperated. “Because I’m not going to let this go.”
He took a step towards me.
It took everything I had not to take a backward step. I folded my arms defiantly across my chest, suddenly aware then that I was half-naked before him, and that the movements had brought my breasts together to create a not-inconsiderable cleavage. But his eyes didn’t stray. Not one bit. He was totally uninterested in my charms.
“Angelo Barone,” he replied. “That’s my name. Off you go, little brat. Go and do your worst.”
I was actually too shocked to respond.
He stepped around me and walked away.
Speechlessly, I turned to watch him leave.
What an asshole!!!!
