Epilogue
Sycophants, murderers, kleptomaniacs, conscience-damning minds and beasts are the people that form the circle of Ronald’s friends without him knowing. He is like the proverbial tale of a dog that chooses to be friend with lion and tiger. No matter how friendly they may look like, they will both share his meat when the beast in them manifests—and that’s just one of the lessons this story taught.
Never die before your time. But Ronald chose to die before his time. You see, to a very large extent, religion plays a vital role in the society and in the life of individual—you might want to argue this but that’s fine. When you don’t stand for something, there’s a great tendency of you falling for anything. Ronald fell for a little scientific mistake and his life was shattered because he did not believe in anything but nothing. You will see in the story that, his friend repeatedly hammers the idea of him embracing a new belief contrary to their belief of non-existence of any supreme being. And even when he experienced little of the mystical and cosmic world that exists in the spirit world when he went into a trance, it was still hard for him to believe that there’s a supreme being. “…and not the so called God” (pg 29). His expression here shows that he has still not come to the fact that there’s a God somewhere. Though, by now; he has had more exposure about the reality of after life than the rest of his friends.
An African proverb says—“We no longer have friends but acquaintances and people to walk with!” The truth in this proverb is further proved in this story. And of course to serve as a touch bearer to the reader that, in whatever we do, there’s only one person to trust… no… two people (That’s if your belief goes in line with it) and that’s God and yourself.
The world isn’t over yet until it’s over. You are not yet dead until you stop breathing. And even while you are on your sick bed and you smells death closely; you are still alive. Do you know how many potentials and talents that have gone undiscovered just because some people stopped living while they are still alive? Never allow any circumstances whatsoever to kill you or end your life… you own your life—God owns it—and not any problem or disease or illness. Many people could still be living today if they had held on to the tiny fibre of life. No one knows the time death cometh—not the best doctor or the greatest scientist in the world. Never timed your life when even the clock is against you—I mean, you still got a whole lot to do with limited time. Keep living while you alive. Live while you live!

“That Ronald is me… I changed my name to Chris because I don’t want people to know who I was!” I concluded as the cold pierced through the thick layers of my skin.
“You mean… you are the Mr Ronald that was declared missing some years ago? Wonderful!!!” Mr Thomas exclaimed covering his mouth with his two palms.
“And now, do you still wish to kill yourself when you still have a life to live? When you have not being timed or circled about with viper-like friends? You have your family to live for and yourself… you’ve made it once… you can still make it while living! And I asked again, Mr Thomas; do you still wish to commit suicide?” I asked looking into Mr Thomas who was filled with angst and perplexity.
“Die? Suicide? Those words are not mine Mr Chris… Ehm…Mr Ronald…” I cut in.
“Mr Chris is my name mister Thomas… don’t you ever make that mistake again please… see you tomorrow… it’s getting darker!” I concluded as I jumped down from where I was sitting and started going.
“I won’t make the mistake again Mister Ronald… sorry… Chris!” Mr Thomas said as he fixed his eyes on me. He couldn’t believe he was sitting with the once richest man in the country—but that’s history. Because in that world of riches; I’m long dead… this is the new me with lot of experiences. This is my rebirth. But still, I nurse secretly the thought of returning to that world again not as Ronald but as Chris.
