“Qaval,” said Grasse within his head. “Let’s seal him for good, shall we?”

Grasse felt Qaval’s consent within his consciousness. The two of them were sure that if they left this demon alone, it would kill the humans it encounters along the way as it goes back to the Demon Continent.

Grasse’s dashed forth towards Ashevaren. The demon released a lightning vein filled with colossal energy. It hit Grasse head-on, scorching half his body. Still, he did not stop.

He touched Ashevaren’s chest, and the demon fell on its knees.

“Wh-What did you do!?” said Ashevaren. He vomited blood on the ground.

Slowly, the figure of Grasse turned luminescent, eventually turning into particles of light.

“This is the end of the path for us,” said Grasse. He was smiling. “Even with the help of the Guardian, I’m unable to defeat you. As expected of a legendary demon.”

Ashevaren’s pupils shrank. He tried to regenerate his wounds, but his body refused to listen. Right now, he could not even muster a fraction of his mana.

“You damn piece of shit! Look at what you’ve done! You maggot! I swear! I will kill all humans in this Empire once this curse is lifted! I swear!”

He tried to grab Grasse, but his hands merely passed through the slowly fading lights.

“Even with your demon lineage, it will take at least three to five years before you’re able to fully recover from that. Take it as a parting gift from us,” said Grasse.

With another deafening roar of fury from the demon, Grasse’s body faded from sight.
