“Fuck ‘em. He can sit on ice. I have a tat to finish. I want you to go and help Capone. I’ll keep the girls here.”

He nods but then smiles a little. “Nah, I’m gonna eat my burger.”

Maci smiles. “You know she is going to order the cheapest thing on the menu to keep all of your change, right? She does that shit to me all of the time!”

I raise a shoulder. “It doesn’t matter. It’s only going to be a couple of bucks.”

“What am I supposed to do while I’m sitting here?” She questions.

Good point. I haven’t gotten that far yet.

“You know how to answer phones and all of that shit?”

Riley walks back into the store with four boxes and both twenties in her hands. The boxes are in a plastic bag.

“The woman says it is on the house. I guess she likes you…” Riley answers and puts the bags of food on the counter.

She sticks the money in her back pocket.

Maci hisses. “You stole his money. The polite thing would be to give it back to him.”

“But he said I could have it!”

I don’t give two shits about the money but I also want Maci to be able to parent her kid how she would normally parent her.

I don’t know the first thing about being a parent.

“Hawk, here is your money back.”

The way she is reaching into her back pocket to give me back the money makes me chuckle.

I seem to be doing that a lot every time I’m around Maci. The woman brings something out of me that I have never felt. Utter happiness.

“You can keep it. Thanks for gettin’ the burgers.”

Kaylie is peering out the window across the street with a smile on her face. That’s Kaylie for you. The woman is always looking out for us. I try to pay her numerous times, but she always turns me down.

After everything that has transpired, I’m in the front seat of an SUV with my daughter tucked into the back seat. The last thing I wanted to admit is that I’m thankful for Hawk stepping up and helping us. I didn’t want to express my fear of what this man was there to do.

I could have been dead in the middle of the parking lot of my apartment building and my daughter would have found me. That is what scares me the most. I don’t want my daughter to be tainted by all of this bull shit that is going around.

Hawk has his hand on my thigh in a comforting manner. Without even thinking about, I wrap my fingers through his fingers drawing the strength from him. I need the strength right now.

I’m hanging on by a threat.

I know there is going to come a time when I’m going to be needed to go back to Chicago to finish my case. I don’t know how they are going to do that with Savros wanting me dead. I know he has every intention and plan on how to kill me. He is a man that will do it in a heartbeat.

Above all, my concern is Riley. She doesn’t need all this.

Hawk drives us through a gated area and parks the SUV outside of a weird looking building. There are bikes all around the building and off to the side of the main buildings, there are multiple other buildings.

He picks my hand up and kisses the back of my hand. “We’re here.”

“Where exactly is here?” I whisper and look around.

“We’re at The Devil’s Disciples compound. You will be safe here,” he explains.

  “What about Riley?”

Riley is already looking outside of the window at the whole new world out in front of her. She is loving every bit of this. I would have thought she would be afraid over what is happening, but she continues to surprise me.

“We get to live here?” She excitedly states.

“For a little bit,” I’m quick to throw that out there.

I have just met Hawk and already I have come to rely on him so much. It took a matter of a sexy afternoon for me to agree to come live with him. Only one afternoon!

This is when I get killed. This is truly the part where I get killed and I’m going to get killed in front of my daughter.

“We’re not staying in the main clubhouse,” Hawk chuckles. “My house is around the back. The whole compound is under lock and key. Nothin’ will happen.”

I take a deep breath. I thought for sure Savros wouldn’t have found me when I moved across the country. Sure enough, he found me. He found me even from jail.

Even from behind bars, he is still calling the shots with me. He is still in control over everything.

Hawk pulls my hand to urge me to get out of the SUV. “My house ain’t the Four Seasons,” he states snidely.

He leads Riley and I to the back of the clubhouse where there are individual houses all around the back portion. Every one of the houses is about the same size but the one at the end. The one at the end is bigger and you can tell whose house that is.

He points at it. “That’s mine.”

I smile and Riley and I follow behind him.

The house is a simple white color with two stories. The outside of the house has some windows with trees next to them. I’m impressed on how nice the house looks.

He opens the door with a slight smile. “It is nothing fancy.”

“We don’t need fancy,” I mumble and follow behind him.

The inside of the house looks like a total bachelor pad. There is not much on the walls and it smells like a man. The furniture is simple, nothing like the furniture that Riley and I just lost.

“Looks like a man’s home,” I mumble to him.

He leans over and kisses me on the cheek. “I have never brought a woman into my home.”

I’m shocked to hear this. I thought for sure he would have brought hundreds of girls here.

Riley looks around at the walls and smiles to herself. “This is a nice place you got here, Hawk.”

“How about you call me Evan if you want,” he tells her.

I’m completely shocked! I didn’t know if he had a first name or anything. The man is a completely mystery to me.

  “Evan?” I question.

  He winks. “Yeah. Evan.”

  “I like it.”

He smirks. “Riley, how about you go up the stairs and the bedroom to the right of the stairs is going to be yours. There’s a bed in there.”

Why does a bachelor need a spare bedroom?

He must have read my mind. “Believe it or not, I do have parents.”

“I don’t know much about you,” I admit.

He circles his arms around my waist and pulls me close to his chest. “What would you like to know?”

“Your birthday, favorite color, favorite food, favorite show, favorite movie, do you smoke, do you drink… Uh, let’s see!”

He squeezes me tighter. “One question at a time! October fifth, blue, spaghetti, I like reruns of old shows, I don’t watch a lot of movies, I smoke pot and I do drink. Your turn.”

I smile at him. “July twenty-first, pink, I love spaghetti and all Italian food, I love stupid and trashy television shows, I love classic movies, I do not smoke and I do not drink.”

He winks. “Looks like we know a little more about each other. Here is how this is going to work. I don’t suspect you to sleep in the bed with me. I want you to, but I don’t expect it. I don’t expect you to be waiting on me hand and foot. I don’t want you to fuckin’ do anythin’ you don’t wanna do. I do need help at the tattoo parlor. But other than that, I really don’t care what you do.”

“You mean to tell me you don’t want to have sex with me?” I whisper flirty.

He thrusts his hips up and I can feel how hard he is on my lower stomach. The man is a god.

  “That’s a good thing.”

And that night, after Riley was settled, Hawk, I mean Evan, proved to how good it was to live with him.

  Four times.

  Hawk

I’m an asshole. Anyone you ask will tell you I’m an asshole. I make the bastard wait for me before I go to the ice chest.
/>
I wanted to make sure Maci and her daughter felt comfortable in my home before I left.

And I waited until I made Maci come a few times before coming back to the clubhouse.

I’ve become a soft asshole lately! What the fuck is wrong with me?

Seeing Maci look scared, did me in. And now I’m going to do what I do best, I’m going to make this rat bastard hurt.

The man is chained to the chair in front of me with my men around me. The only thing that is missing is a prospect and that’s because he is watching my house. I want to make sure she is protected at all times and that is the only way I know how.

I’m holding a pocket knife in my hand as I approach him. He’s about my height, a decent build. Nothing too scary about the man who almost killed my woman.

“Who sent you?” I ask him.

He shakes his head. “I tell you and then I’m dead. I don’t tell you and then I’m still dead. What’s the point in telling you shit?”

  The man has guts.

With the edge of the knife out, I lightly tap it into his back to show him who is in charge here. I’m in charge.

The knife tip punctures his back and he hisses out in paid. “What the fuck?” He snipes.

There is a little trickle of blood along the couple of inches line I made.

“Oops! Did that hurt?” I taunt. “Rule number one, I ask the questions. Rule number two, you answer the mother fuckin’ questions and everything will be cool. Got me?”

I’m lying through my teeth. I have no intentions on keeping this jack ass alive.

He nods his bearded face and looks at all of my men in their faces. Is he trying to get one of them to feel sorry for him? If that’s what he is doing, it’s not going to work.

“Don’t look at them,” I circle back around and smack him on the back where I made the cut. “They will not help you. Who sent you?”

The man shakes his head and stares at me head on. “I can’t tell you.”

I smile mirthlessly. “I think you can. If you don’t I’m gonna do a whole lot worse than a cut.”

With the knife raised I slam it down into his left leg. I’m careful to not maim any arteries or shit until I get my answers needed.

  He screams loud.

Capone circles him with a smile. “Yeah, you probably want to tell the prez what he wants to know. You fucked with his woman, dude. Who the fuck are ya?”

“Are you talkin’ about that chick who lives in the projects?” The man yells.

“Yeah, that woman. My woman. You fucked with the wrong club.”

He tries to wiggle out of the chains but he is no match for them. “Fuck, man. I’m sorry. We got drafted to do it. I swear! I didn’t know she belonged to you.”

“You didn’t know because you didn’t check. You also went into my club’s area. Why the fuck wouldn’t you have checked before coming here?”

The disrespect is a whole other level than him stalking my woman. Every club knows to check with the surrounding clubs before going into their land. It is a respect thing. I would never go into my cousin’s land without permission and that’s my own cousin. This fucker messed up all around.

From the side, I can see he’s a fucking Trail Blazer MC member. He’s low on their rocker, though. He’s probably trying to get a name for himself by volunteering to get my girl.

“I didn’t know! I swear! I wanted to get the girl and prove to my club I was meant to be there.”

Maucho pipes up next with a snarl. “You went into our land to prove to your club you was meant to be there? How fuckin’ stupid are you? Do you know what you did?”

“You started a war between the two clubs, fucker,” Gear casually answers.

“How can I apologize? Please! I’ll do anything!”

I smirk and look off to the side. “You can tell me what you know.”

“Some suit came into the club and was demanding we find some chick with her daughter who was hiding out here. He said she was his missin’ wife or some shit. He offered twenty-five large if we found her and killed her. I swear! That’s all I know.”

I pull my knife out of his leg and the man screams. “Where’s your phone?”

I have a plan and I can’t wait to get it rolling. The sooner I get these assholes out of my way, the better we’ll be.

“One of your guys took it.”

  “Where’s this fucker’s phone?” I yell.

Nitro, one of my men that was a nomad for the longest time, steps up with the phone in his hand. He’s an Army veteran with a story to tell if you ever want to hear what true terror is. I’m happy he’s on our side, I’ll tell you that.

I grab the phone and try to turn it on. There is a fucking passcode on it. “What’s the passcode?”

“Fuck! You’re gonna get me killed!” He shouts.

I keep the information to myself that if I don’t kill him, he’s already dead by his men for being captured. This dick has no idea who he’s messing with at all.

“Pin!” I demand with the knife raised again.

  “Five, four, five, four.”

I type it in and the phone comes alive instantly. “Thanks,” I retort without meaning my thanks.

“What’s the guy’s name?” Nitro barks.

Nitro isn’t the man to fuck with. He knows everything about everything. I swear, this man can see through anyone’s bull shit. That’s why I’m happy he’s on my side.

“Fuck! His name is Bill. He’s saved under Bill. Can you just kill me now?”

  I smile. “Nah, too easy.”

I reach the number to Bill and call him right away. I want to get him on the phone.

“Why you calling me?” A man answers the phone.

“Hey, this is the guy you hired to do that job. Yeah, we found her. Want to come get her?” Nitro instructs.

“How do I know this isn’t a game?” The man asks.

“If you want your boss to love ya, you would come get the girl,” Nitro casually states.

“All right, I’m on my way. What’s the address?” The man stupidly bites.

“Give him the address to the diner,” I tell him.

I’m already thinking about how I’m going to hog tie his fuckin’ ass and throw him in the back of truck. He’s a small fish to fry and I’m going to enjoy every bit of this. This mother fucker has no idea who he is dealing with.

Nitro rattles off the diner’s address and I smile thinking how big of a dumb ass this dude is.

They started a war coming over into my territory and I’m going to finish it.

  Hawk

Bill is on time and we didn’t have to wait too long for him to come. The worst part about Bill, is that he is still a low man on the totem pole. He won’t be able to do anything for me and I want to kill him.

But I’m going to use him as bait.

The man stands a little shorter than myself and his cocky smile on his face is begging for me to slap it off. I walk around the back of the diner and point towards my tattoo shop.

“The girls are in there,” I tell him.

The man is trying to figure out who I am. I can tell by the way he is looking at me and trying to read my rockers on my cut. I’m not making it easy on him but I’m also not hiding it. He wants to know that bad, he can ask.

Capone and Gear and a couple of the other brothers are waiting in the diner for us to come over. I can see them watching us through the window.

The quicker we get this done, the quicker I can get back to Maci. I miss her pussy already. I’ve become a fuckin’ pussy.

“Who are you?” Bill asks the second we get into the tattoo shop.

I smirk. “I’m Hawk. The fucker you hired made his way into my territory. The woman you’re after is my ol’ lady. You see the problem with this?”

Even though Bill isn’t in the biker scene, he knew exactly what I meant. He starts back peddling to get out of this. “I’m sorry, man! Fuck! I really needed the money.”

  “
How much was offered to you?” Capone asks with his gun in his hand. He has it aimed at Bill’s head and I know it’s loaded.

The man shakes his head out of fear. “I needed the money. He offered me fifty large if I tracked her down and killed her.”

“Then you offered that loser money, too?” I question.

He nods. “I swear! I didn’t know she meant anything to anyone. I swear to fucking god, I didn’t know!” He begs.

“See, Bill, may I call you Bill?” Capone taunts and doesn’t wait for an answer. “You can’t just roll up on someone’s town and think you’re gonna cap someone. I think you knew what you were doing the whole time but want us to think you’re stupid. What do ya think, brothers?”

Maucho’s enjoying the scene like the psychopath he is. “I think you’re right, brother. This mother fucker has to be taught a lesson.”

“Who hired you?” I grab him by the collar and lift him off the ground. His feet dangle a little bit and I want to chuckle.

  “I dunno!” He cries.

“That’s not the answer I’m looking for. You do know. You gotta know. Who hired you?”

“Some Italian in Chicago! I swear! He’s supposed to wire me the money,” Bill yells.

“Into your bank?” Nitro retorts. “What’s the bank account number he’s supposed to be sending the money to?”

The man shakes his head and starts crying. That doesn’t work for me. I shake him a little harder and his head flops from side to side.

“Tell me what I want to know!” I demand.

  “You’re gonna kill me anyways.”

Again, every one of these assholes who crosses over into my territory thinks I’m going to off them. I’m not a fuckin’ murderer. I’ll kill to protect and defend, but I’m not gonna kill just to kill.

“That depends on the answer you give us,” Gear murmurs behind him and punches him in the back.

I hear the amount of force he brings and the man shakes from it.

  His eyes snap open.

“I see you’re finally seeing the point here. How many clubs did you ask?” I squeeze a little tighter.

“We asked the surrounding clubs. We didn’t want to ask you because we didn’t want them to know about it,” Bill retorts.
