The Fight for Britannia IV: Fighting for Humanity

“Such as?”
“A force field that actually works, for one.”
Grady smiled, “Don’t ever stop inventing things to defend our worlds, Joshua. You never know what the universe will throw at us.”
“You don’t have to worry about that.”
Taffy asked, “Do you have any news on what’s going on with the Gron and Treele?”
Grady shrugged, “No, they’re probably going to go after each other now that the Core Aliens are gone.”
“Does that worry you, Grady?” Joshua asked.
“Not really. They never detected any of our ships and they have no idea of our planets’ location. We’re so far from the core that it would take centuries before they could find us.” Grady saw Taffy shrug. “What?”
Taffy turned to him, “What, what?”
“You just shrugged. That says you don’t agree with what I just said.”
“No, I agree. You’re absolutely right that it will take centuries before they could find us.”
“But?”
Joshua and Grady were staring at Taffy and she sighed, “I was just thinking that one day we might want to go back and settle on Britannia. You know, there’s no place like home.” Grady’s eyes tightened. Taffy added with a smile, “We might also suggest to the leaders on the Union’s Colony that they might also want to move back to Britannia.” Taffy raised her hands, “Those aliens are very close to Britannia, Grady.”
Grady looked at Joshua and saw him smile before saying, “Perhaps we should keep an eye on them. You know, just in case.”
Grady chuckled and knew that scouts would be going back to the core soon. He looked at Taffy and took her hand. But tonight was for celebration and the aliens would have to wait. Maybe for years. They had children to raise first.
