Jade smiled, looking up at Scarlett. “You’re not going to tell me, are you?”

Greer shook her head. “Natalie is gone and that’s all that matters. People may wonder and that’s okay, but they will eventually forget, and life will go on.”

“Smart girl, Jean was. But her niece, now that one is the smartest. I’m glad you’re okay.” Scarlett patted her hand, got up, and left the room. They watched the old woman as she left closing the door behind her.

“I heard the words you used, but I have no clue what they mean,” Jade whispered, staring at the door.

  “I took her magic away.”

“How did you know how to…Ahh, Calum?”

  Greer nodded.

“I won’t ever say anything. You’re my twin. Remember together we are stronger.” Jade winked as she got up and left the room. She knew that Jade would never tell anyone even her mate. That’s what Calum said. Her twin would complete her and ground her with the magic. They would do great things together.

He also told her that the witch was pulling at her magic testing it and that was why they’re arms were itching. There was so much she didn’t know about magic. She had tons to learn but she would. This was her home now and she was happy for the first time in her life.

She closed her eyes because she had a treehouse to see soon and she needed to be healed.

  Chapter Twenty-Four

She heard giggling as she lay in her bed. The sun was bright as she tried to open her eyes. “It’s the big day. Time to get up, sleepy head, and see your new home,” Haven said, standing over her, grinning.

“Hurry up. Everyone is waiting on you,” Jade said, looking down at her from the other side.

“Really? He’s done with everything?” Greer asked.

“Yep, everything, including decorating it. He said it had to be perfect for his mate. He paid for all of it, Greer. He wouldn’t let Lennox or any of us pay for a thing,” Jade said.

“Don’t you dare say anything to that man either. He was so excited to do this. Don’t spoil it for him. I haven’t seen Reed McDaniel smile like that ever. He’s so in love with you. Well, don’t sit there smiling, come on,” Haven said, pushing the covers off her.

Greer couldn’t stop smiling as she brushed her teeth and put clothes on. She wasn’t allowed to go to the treehouse for one whole week. All their lessons were completed on the front porch of the alpha’s house. But today was the day she would officially move into her new home. Her treehouse home.

Slipping on her shoes, she glanced at her reflection one last time. Her life had changed so much since coming to New Hope. Aunt Jean had told her that one day it would all end and she would find that one place that she would want to live forever. Going back to Ireland was only a memory. New Hope was her future.

“Are you ready, baby?” Reed asked, leaning against her door, smiling.

She smiled then ran to him and jumped in his arms. “I love you.”

“Now I could get used to this. You can jump in my arms every day.”

“You have a deal,” Greer said.

  “Promise?”

“I promise. Now let’s go see our home,” she said. Reed’s smile fell from his face. “What’s wrong?”

“I thought you would need more time before you would want to move in together. I mean if you need more time.”

You don’t want to move in with me?” Greer asked concerned.

“Are you kidding? I never want to live without you.”

  “Then it’s settled.”

“Okay, keep your eyes closed. No peeking,” Reed said, pulling her closer to the treehouse. He had a scarf over her eyes.

“Hurry up, Reed. We want to see her expression,” Quinn yelled.

  “Ready?”

  “Ready,” Greer whispered.

She smiled as she slowly opened her eyes. Three packs were standing around waiting for her reaction. Biting her lip, she looked up and the smile left her face.

“What’s wrong? You don’t like the changes I made?” Reed asked.

“Are you kidding me? It’s…” she gasped then inhaled sharply. “It’s beautiful, Reed.” Tears dripped down her face. “It’s absolutely beautiful. The stairs move?”

“Stand right here and let me show you how they come down.” Reed picked up a controller and pressed a button. “With this, the stairs and the doors will open.”

She watched as the steps lowered. He held her hand, taking her to the stairs. She was in awe as each step dropped into place. The rope extended as she held on and walked up each step. “It’s so big.”

“I spared no expense for you. I want you to love it.”

“Well, you succeeded.” She couldn’t believe how much detail he had put in it. As they made it to the top, the doors and windows were open. Each piece of glass glistened in the sunlight. She didn’t know where to look first. The wood was darker than the other cabins. He had used a red stain instead of golden. This was too much. They walked right through the living room area with a gray couch that extended into a L shape. She ran her fingers across the soft fabric as they passed.

  “You like?”

She snorted. “There is so much, and yes, I like it...very much.”

He pulled her into the kitchen. She pointed at the stove. “Good grief, the stove is huge.”

  “I like to cook.”

“Good, then you can cook. I’ll just sit and cheer you on.” Her heart beat faster as he smiled. The man spared no expense with all stainless-steel appliances.

“You can do whatever you want,” Reed said, placing his lips on top of her head. “Just as long as I can do it with you.”

“I can’t live without you, so you will have to be with me all the time.”

Reed laughed. “Now that is settled, let me show you my favorite spot in the house.”

Greer smiled and took his outstretched hand. “Come with me.”

She followed him out to the deck. They looked over the edge as all their friends waved.

“Greer,” Reed said seriously. When she turned, Reed was down on one knee. He held out a gold ring with tiny diamonds around the band. “Will you marry me?”

“Yes...yes.” She jumped in his arms hugging him so close, she thought she was going to break his bones, but her man was tough, and she knew that all the bad things she had gone through had led her to him.

“Hey, hurry up, love birds. We want to see this mansion in the trees,” Leo yelled up as the girls all cheered.

“I get to plan your wedding,” Quinn yelled.

Reed and Greer both laughed as he handed her the remote control. She lowered the back stairs for all her friends. Glancing back at him, she saw love in his eyes. The love he had for her. Cupping his face with her hands, she whispered, “Thank you for protecting me and making me the happiest woman in the world.”

“I love you and you deserve to be happy,” Reed said, placing the ring on her finger. He leaned down and kissed her. “Now let’s go enjoy our family and friends.”
