“Do that and I will never help you against the hybrids, you know that I’m the Alpha’s servant and it's clear that I will be of a big help” I said.
“So, you’re threatening me? You’re threatening you’re king??” He asked.
“No, I’m just reminding you what I’m capable of. Never involve my grandmother here and I won’t mess just as you wish” I said.
Serafin gave me a smirk and then he walked towards me “That’s why you fascinate me, no wonder I chose you as my queen” He said as he touches my cheeks.
I tried to avoid it but before I could even do that, he kissed me and it wasn’t a gentle kiss just like what the Alpha did, it was hard like as if he’s forcing himself to me.
I tried to push him because he’s hurting me but he grabbed my hair and continued kissing me even if he knows that he’s hurting me.
“My king!!!!” A woman came rushing and then he kneeled in front of us.
“I told you not to disturb us, didn’t I?!” Serafin angrily shouted and stopped harassing me.
“I apologize for the disturbance but I think you should see it, the hybrids are on their way including the Alpha. I think they’re here because of the queen” The woman said.
I was startled because of the fact that the Alpha is actually coming to save me??
Serafin laughed “Looks like my queen is also important to the Alpha, fascinating” He said.
“Release the queen, we cannot afford a war with the hybrids right now. We will definitely lose. It’s not red moon and the fake cardinal hasn’t established herself yet” Serafin said and looked at me.
“Show yourself to the woods, tell them you were able to escape being the king’s food” He added but that’s not what’s in my mind right now.
Fake cardinal? What does that mean? Misty is not the real cardinal?? How did that happen and how is it possible?
“What are you waiting for? Move the queen right now!” Serafin commanded.
They immediately moved to get me out of the hide out.
As we reached the woods, the woman repeated what Serafin has said earlier.
“I know what to do, you may now leave” I instructed but since I’m a newbie, they hesitated to leave.
“What now? Aren’t you guys leaving?” I asked, they immediately bowed and left me alone in the woods.
I know I’m in a tough situation right now but the only thing that I could think of is that the Cardinal is a fake and that Misty is a fake and his working under the king.
But how did they manage to do that? How come they manage to trick the Delta and the Alpha? I heard the Alpha and the Delta has the ability to determine the Cardinal’s scent.
How did they manage to trick the Cardinal’s scent then?
“Cass??” I heard Yvan’s voice from behind me, I immediately turned to see him and as I do that he ran towards me to hug me.
“You’re ok right? You’re not hurt?” He said.
“I-I’m not, I managed to escape” I said and after saying that, the Alpha showed up with the rest of the Hybrid Empire.
“I… I escaped” I said as he locks his gaze to my eyes. “I was abducted to be a subject for the king’s food” I lied trying to convince him and just as he did, I also looked at him straight in the eye trying not to be caught by my nasty lies.
He looked serious and I don’t know what’s running in his mind and then he suddenly shifted his gaze to the Delta and the Beta.
“Yvan, Eros, escort her. We’re going back, we can’t afford to declare war against the rebels just yet” The Alpha said and just as he said, Yvan and freaking Eros approached me to of course accompany me.
We reached the Hybrid Mansion without any difficulties since both parties from the Hybrid and the Rebels can’t afford a war against each other right now and the reason is because of Misty, the fake Cardinal.
I still can’t imagine that Misty is from the Rebel’s side, but if she’s not the real Cardinal, then who is? And if she’s Serafin’s puppet then does she know that I am his puppet queen? Was that the reason why she’s so kind to me?
“Yow Cass!!! Are you okay?” Yvan asked as he ruin my hair.
“Uhm y-yeah, I ‘m ok” I said and tried to avoid his gaze. “I know you’re shocked because of what happened to you, well of course you are but how did you manage to escape anyway?” Yvan asked.
And with that one question, I panicked not knowing what to do nor say but then suddenly the face of my childhood friend who I unfortunately lost in touch with entered my mind.
“I was saved by an old friend” I lied trying to convince Yvan of my lies.
Back then, before leaving Luna Canidae when I was ten, I had a guy best friend. We we’re so close and we’re the only ones who can understand each other. Unfortunately, before I leave Luna Canidae, he vanished together with his family and until now I don’t know where he is.
“An old friend?” Yvan asked.
“Y-yeah, I had a friend ten years ago and I saw him there. He’s the one who helped me to escape” I lied, It's true he existed but I don’t know if he’s still alive right now.
“Unfortunately, he became one of them. He became a part of the rebellion empire” I explained.
I’m not lying in front of Yvan because I am the queen, I’m not even in the rebellions side nor the Hybrid’s side. I just need to become a spy in both sides because I have to know who should I trust and who are my enemies.
“Are you sure that what you met there was your childhood friend?” Asked Yvan giving me a very serious concerned stare.
“What do you mean?” I asked trying to figure out what his eyes are saying but then he suddenly changed his mood.
“Nah, nothing. You should rest now, don’t worry the Rebels won’t be able to reach you here. It’s the Alpha’s house anyway” Yvan said as he accompanies me towards my room.
“How’s the Alpha anyway?” I asked.
“He’s having a meeting with the Beta, the Zetas and the Omega couple. I also need to be there, I just have to accompany you here” He said.
“You may go Yvan, I’m ok” I said.
“Make sure you rest Cass, I’ll comeback” He said and left.
I sat on my bed and thought of what Yvan asked me earlier, those eyes when he asked me if I’m sure if my childhood friend has turned into a rebel.
I know that he’s trying to say something but he can’t.
Chapter 10
Puppet Cardinal
Monday, another tiring day to comply with my subjects.
Well yeah, it’s just Monday but why do I feel so tired that I badly want to lie in bed for a day.
“Cassss!!!!!!” I heard Lara’s voice from behind me and the next thing I know, she’s now back hugging me.
“Yeah I miss you too Lara” I said and faced her.
“So how is the life of being an Alpha’s servant? I mean, how does it feel to live with the Alpha for two days?” Lara asked.
Terrible of course, we’ll never know, my next visit there could be my last days of being a purely innocent virgin woman. He kisses me aggressively like as if we’re couples, he sniffs me like a mad dog and the worst scenario is that he always enters my room without my permission.
Well I can’t say this is harassment because I have to agree that when he kissed me, I enjoyed it. Dirty Cass? I think so?
“Cass, you? Are you still with me?” Lara said waiving her hand in front of me. I shook my head “Sorry, what are you saying?” I asked.
Lara rolled her eyes “I’m asking you of the feeling being with the Alpha” She asked.
“Oh yeah uhm, good?” I said with my eyes unsure of what I’m saying, Lara showed me her disappointed eyes. “I can’t believe I befriended this brat” She murmured twisting her face maybe because of disappointment, I smiled.
“Stop that Lara, you look terrible” I said laughing.
“Yow Cass!!” I heard Yvan’s voice, I turned around to see him running towards us “Hey Lara” Yvan said and waved
his hand to Lara.
“Hi” Lara responded.
“What’s your schedule?” Yvan asked.
“9 am, psychology class we’re the same with Lara. What about you?” I asked.
“Cool the same, 9 am psychology class” Yvan said.
“This is obviously not a coincidence Delta, you fixed your schedule to fit Cass’ schedule didn’t you? Let me guess, you like Cass?” Lara asked Yvan.
I almost laugh my lungs out of my body because of what Lara said “You have a superior imagination huh” Yvan said and started walking.
“Let’s go, the class is about to start!” Yvan said and continued walking.
“Am I wrong?” Lara asked herself, I pat Lara’s back.
“Yvan will never like me Lara don’t worry, let’s go” I said and followed Yvan.
“Hey! Wait for me!” Lara shouted and ran towards us

As the lecture is ongoing for our psychology class, Lara won’t stop bugging me and kept on asking me about me being the Alpha’s servant and what does it feel to live with the Alpha.
“Just why are you so curious about that?” I asked.
“Because I never saw the Alpha? I at least want to know how he looks and how he is as a man.” Lara said.
I sighed “Well, he’s not someone who has a good attitude but I can assure you that he’s gorgeous” I said “Don’t worry Lara I’ll talk more about him when we get our break later” I said.
I badly need to listen to the lecture now since I was absent for days because of my fever. In the middle of listening to the lecture, I felt my phone vibrate, I silently grabbed it out of my pocket and saw a text from an unknown number.
‘Hey Cass, it’s me Misty. I heard you we’re abducted by the rebellion empire yesterday, you’re ok right I mean I know you are. My car’s parked outside the building where you at right now, can you lend me 5 minutes of your time, I think we need to talk, well I know you know what I mean’ I read silently, I sighed it’s a text from the fake cardinal and yes of course I freaking know what she means by that.
She thinks I’m her ally now since we’re in the same side but I don’t think so and will never think so.
Both of us knows our hidden identities, of course we need to talk. I let out a deep sigh once again, I looked at both Yvan and Lara who are busy listening.
“I just need to go somewhere, I’ll be back later” I told Yvan and Lara and then I left the lecture room, after coming out of the building, I immediately texted her.
“I’m outside of the building, where are you?” I texted but instead of getting a reply, I heard the beep of an expensive car just right beside me. I assumed it was Misty and so I approached the car and I was right. Misty is sitting inside it.
I opened the passenger’s door and greeted her with a smile.
“Hey” She greeted “Hi” I said and after that it was pure silence. I hate this awkward vibe.
“I bet you already know, that…”
“That you’re not the real Cardinal? Yeah, Serafin told me that. What about you? Did you know already, that…?”
“That you’re the Queen? Yeah and the King told me to note and report all of your actions in the university and in the Hybrid mansion” She said.
“I thought you approached me because you want to but I was wrong” I said in a bitter tone. “You’re right, I’m fake and I being nice to you was fake and I won’t say sorry for that since it’s my job” Misty said, I let out a sarcastic smile, bitch please.
“No worries, you don’t deserve any forgiveness anyway” I said sarcastically.
“Us fighting won’t help Cass and me lying to you is not the case right now. I came here to come up with a plan with you, after all you are the Queen, our Queen” Misty said locking her gaze to me.
I looked straight into her eyes and then I made a very deep sigh “Why did you agree to be the King’s puppet?” I asked her.
“Why did you agree to be the Queen?” Misty asked me back “My case is different. I need to protect my granny---”
“Are you the only human here who needs to protect someone? I also have my family to protect” She said that made me realize how desperate she is. Her words slapped me hard in the head, she’s right, I’m not the only one who’s protecting a love one here.
I heard a deep sigh coming from her “My ancestors are slaves of the kings of the Rebellion Empire, my whole ancestry promised to serve the Rebellion Empire and that darned promise reached my generation. I don’t have a choice but to become a slave all my life” I heard Misty and I can feel how heavy her words are.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know” I said. “Of course you don’t know, you shouldn’t be sorry” Misty said and gazed at me.
“Both of us, we don’t have any choice anyway. I will act as the Cardinal until the end and I will die in the hands of the Alpha so that the Rebellion Empire wins” She said.
“Do you really not have a choice?” I asked her and I saw how her eyebrows narrowed.
“What do you mean” She asked.
“Listen to me, are you sure it’s what you want? You love the Beta. You will hurt him” I said but she laughed. “He doesn’t love me, it was all an illusion, an illusion I made for myself in which I made myself believe that he loves me when in fact he does not” She said.
“Are you sure? Or you’re just misjudging to how you want to believe it?” I asked her, she looked at me with a curious look.
“Don’t you know that the Beta almost killed me twice because he hates humans and that he made himself believe that humans are all annoying because his ex-girlfriend is a human who unfortunately happened to be a Cardinal, just a fake though” I said as I look straight at her.
“And?” Misty asked.
“He can easily kill me that time but he didn’t because I’m a human just like his girlfriend. Both of you made your self believe that you don’t have a choice when in fact you have, it’s just that both of you doesn’t want to choose” I said.
“What are you trying to say?” Misty asked.
“You may deceive yourselves for forcing your mind to believe that you don’t love each other anymore when in fact I can easily see in your eyes that you long for each other” I said and took a deep breath.
“Instead of hating each other while you wait for your end, why don’t you enjoy each other and not regret anything when the war comes” I said as I observe her eyes.
We may not be close but I can see hope in Misty’s eyes.
“S-so I think we still have a chance?” She asked.
“I’m not the one who can answer you that” I said and looked at my watch “Oh my gosh, my class ended already, I need to go Misty and about the plan, let’s have it next time” I said and jumped out of her car.
I’m doomed!! I hope Yvan and Lara didn’t leave yet.
As I run towards the lecture room, I saw Yvan holding my bag and my books. “Yvan!” I shouted.
“Where the hell have you been?” Yvan asked “I just went to see someone” I said and grabbed my bag and books from him.
“Thanks for getting my bag, where’s Lara?” I asked. “She has to go to her next class and thanks to you lady I’m late too” Yvan said, I smiled.
“Thank you, what’s your next class anyway?” I asked.
“It’s not a class, it’s a meeting with the Zetas” He said and walked away.
“Gotta go!” He shouted and waved at me, I waved back and ran to my next calls.
I didn’t know that my conversation with Misty would take that long, I entered the room and to my surprise, there’s a lot of students taking the class and the only un occupied seat that I can see is beside Eros, the freaking Beta.
Well I don’t have a choice. I started walking and sat down beside him who is busy listening to the lecture.
“Are you sure that you escaped the Rebellion empire that night?” Says Eros, and here we go again ladies and gentlemen. He is starting with me
again.
“I met the Cardinal earlier” I said and there you go, he fucking shut his mouth up, good boy.
But when I thought I’m done with him, he spoke again.
“What do I care?” He said.
I looked at him, no more like I stared at him. He is a Beta, the second in command but he is a freaking coward!
“I know that you’re dying to know what we talked about, do you not want to ask me?” I asked and before he could even say his famous line, I shut him up.
“She might be willing to go back to you” I said and from those arrogant and bullshitting eyes of him, It turned into confused eyes.
“What do you mean?” Eros asked.
“Just a suggestion mighty, arrogant, second in command but coward Beta, why don’t both of you try again before the Cardinal dies” I started.
“Instead of bullshitting and bullying a servant like me just because of a lame reason that I’m a human, why don’t you date the Cardinal again while it’s not yet too late” I said.
“Just a suggestion though” I said and opened my laptop.
“W-what if she rejects that idea?” Eros timidly asked, freaking shit! This is the very first time that I saw this side of him. He doesn’t look like the annoying, bully Eros that I know.
“And what if she agrees? This is the problem to the both of you, you always have the question what if when the answer is obvious that both of you needs each other” I said like as if I’m scolding him.
“I’m just saying this because Yvan is your friend and he is precious to me, now if you don’t work on this, I assure you that it will be you loss” I said， ending the conversation between him and me.
I gave back my focus to the professor and Eros did not ask further questions about this
The class ended with me partially occupied just because of this Beta beside me, I thought that I ended conversation nicely but I wrong, I was freaking damn wrong because he asked me the same questions that he asked earlier and that I need to repeat what I have said earlier. Just wtf.
“Ok stop! Please stop asking me mighty Beta. You’ve been asking me the same questions for damn four times. What you just need to do is approach her and make it up with her” I said impatiently.
