Alexia marched down the busy hospital corridor in a rush to leave. Footsteps sounded out from behind her.
“Alexia, where are you going?”
Alexia scowled and stopped walking. She had wanted to get away without seeing Karla. “Um, I have to go, Ronda and Ava are waiting for me.”
“Did Price say anything to you?”
“He, he went to sleep.” Alexia lied.
“Oh, sorry, he does that when he’s medicated.”
“That’s fine. Go see him okay. He was asking for you.” Alexia smiled at her and turned away.
“Oh, I’ll go see him then. Thanks for coming, Alexia,” Karla had to yell because Alexia was already half way down the hall way.
Karla turned toward Price’s room. She walked steadily down the hall and stopped short before Price’s room. She always did that to take a breath and try to not look affected by his appearance.
Finally she entered his room and screamed. “Price! What happened?” Karla felt faint.
“I’m healed,” Price said. He was sitting upright on the bed with a smile plastered to his clear face.
“How?” Karla’s voice was a whisper.
“I don’t know. I woke up and I was healed.” Price pointed to himself as though he was a game-show prize. Karla moved toward him and slowly reached out her hand. He took it and pulled her into his arms. She stared at his skin. It was smoother than ever before.
She kissed him briefly and said, “I’m getting a doctor!” She ran out of the room. Price lay back on the bed and smiled, thinking that Alexia Martin, as he knew her, was an angel.
