I grinned to myself. Clever little shit. “Thank you.”

I’d reached the top landing, then twisted around, his head level with my breasts.

  “Whoops,” I said, giggling.

“Quite!” he said, looking up at me.

My pulse quickened, my pussy tingled and there it was, that raw, untapped, animalistic attraction that had gotten me in so much trouble lately.

“You know, you’re a very sexy guy, Jensen.” I couldn’t help myself and brushed my finger across his lips.

Looking down at him, I wanted him, had to have him and would do anything I could to make it happen, but to my chagrin he gently removed my hand with a smile.

“Time is against us, Miss Childs.”

“Yes, you’re right, Jensen,” I said, rebuffed. I was certain I could seduce him.

  “Which way to your boudoir?”

“My, my, aren’t we fancy,” I teased.

He spoke like a man out of time.

“Your bedroom,” he said, correcting himself.

“This way,” I said, taking the lead.

I passed a large mirror and caught a quick glimpse; he was adjusting his cock.

I smiled and walked into my bedroom. Not totally immune to my charms, it seems.

He followed me. “Very pleasing,” he said.

Coquettishly, I replied. “I’m pleased you like what you see,”

  His cheeks flushed a little.

I picked up the stockings, sat on the edge of the bed, rolling one of them slowly over my foot and up my leg.

His face flushed, his body betraying him in the worst way, but I pretended not to notice the growing lump in his trousers.

Both stockings were fastened to the suspender belt. “Sorry about this,” I said, “But be a good boy and pass me the dress, it’s hanging behind that door over there.” I pointed toward the en-suite bathroom.

He retrieved the dress, I took it from him and stepped into it. He pulled at the zip, his touch lingering longer than it needed to. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck.

  “Done,” he said, stepping back.

  “Thank you, Jensen.”

I’d decided to wear one of my favourite pieces of jewellery. Even though Liam had bought it for me, I still loved it. Rubies set in an antique silver necklace. He’d presented it to me on our first night in Egypt, a gift for our fifth wedding anniversary.

“Do you need help fastening the clasp?” he asked.

“If you’d be so kind.” I could do it myself quite easily.

  I handed him the necklace.

He brought it around me, standing dangerously close behind, as I held it in place. A step back and I’d be able to feel the lump in his trousers. As tempted as I was, I stood deathly still as he fastened it around my neck.

  “Done,” he said, again.

I trembled at his touch and turned to face him, taking a few steps back.

  “How does it look?”

“You look magnificent,” he replied. “Majestic.”

I twirled on the spot, looking down as the dress flowed outward. He didn’t say a word, but never took his eyes off me. “Then I’m ready to go to the ball, Jensen.”

  “As you wish.”

“But I have to be back before midnight.”

“Of course, Miss Childs. You will be back before the stroke of midnight.”

“Then my chariot will turn back into a pumpkin.”

“If only there was such thing as Once Upon a Time, life would be so much easier.”

“Oh, I don’t know so much, Jensen. When I awoke this morning. I had no idea you would knock on my door, then return to whisk me away for a night of mystery.”

“Your night has only just begun, Miss Childs.”

“I wish you’d call me Cammie.”

Jensen held out his hand and escorted me down the stairs. He didn’t know how appreciative I was – these heels weren’t designed for stairs.

“Do you have your invitation?” he asked.

  “It’s in my bag.”

“Good, then are you ready to leave?”

“Yes,” I replied, nervously for what lay ahead.

  Chapter Nine

The limousine was the height of luxury and thankfully it wasn’t one of those tacky stretch monstrosities I’d have had no hope of getting into wearing this dress.

No, this was a Rolls-Royce Phantom with plush cream leather and solid wood interiors – its owner must be seriously wealthy. I was very impressed.

“This is a beautiful car, Jensen.”

“I have to agree – she’s a dream to drive,” he replied.

  You drive me wild.

I was still in the dark regarding the destination, but my curiosity couldn’t have reached a higher peak.

  “Are we nearly there, Jensen?”

“Not far,” he replied, eyeing me in the rear-view mirror. “Help yourself to the bar.”

I was wary of drinking anything alcoholic and wanted to keep my wits about me. “I’m fine, thank you.”

  “As you wish.”

Every time he spoke to me, I wanted to melt into his arms.

Right now, I was fixated with the back of his head.

Jensen had removed his cap, and to my astonishment, his head was shaved. I really wasn’t expecting it at all. It added to his mystique, but was a total contrast to how he sounded, or was that too judgemental of me?

Model, porn star, gigolo, he could have had his pick, but the shaved head added a dangerous, thug like element to him I found irresistible. Add the leather driving gloves he was wearing, and it seemed my fantasies were coming true before my very eyes.

What I couldn’t fathom was why this intriguing, kind, caring, sexy guy spent his life driving other people around.

“So, how long have you been a Chauffeur?”

“A little over a year,” he said, and for the first time, his reply didn’t sound rehearsed. “I enjoy it.”

“When do I find out who the invitation is from?”

“I’m to drive you straight to the house and show you to the drawing room.”

  Drawing Room. How posh.

I hadn’t been dragged up, but I was more comfortable with a beer, than a glass of champagne.

“Will you be driving me home afterward?”

“Yes, I will make sure you get home safely, unless you decide to spend the night.”

  “That won’t be happening.”

I felt calmer knowing Jensen would be driving me home, but my nerves were on high alert. What the hell was I doing? I’d taken the registration number of the vehicle and emailed it to myself as a precautionary measure. If I was heading straight for horror movie territory, the police would have somewhere to begin their search.

I spied a huge mansion on the horizon.

“Are we going to that place over there?”

  “Yes, that is our destination.”

“Wow,” I said, wondering who I knew that high up in society. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“You’ve seen nothing yet,” Jensen added, and there it was again, the less rehearsed version of him.

“I’m beginning to wonder what I’ve let myself in for.”

“Trust me, Miss Childs, you will enjoy your evening. My employer is an expert in the art of entertaining.”

We took a left turn, up a long and winding road, over a bridge then past a man-made lake. The mansion loomed large, much grander and spacious than it appeared to be from the road. I spied a solitary light in a downstairs room. The rest of the place was in total darkness.

“Why’s it so dark in there?”

“It will just be the two of you this evening – the staff has been dismissed for the evening.”

  “How many staff work there?”

  “I am not certain.”

“I’m not surprised he keeps the lights switched off,” I figured. “He’s probably trying to save money on the electricity bill.”

  Jensen snorted, then regained his
composure. “Quite,” he said. I could see his eyes twinkling as he stared at me through the rear-view mirror. He could seduce a thousand virgins just by his stare alone.

  Chapter Ten

The car pulled to a stop.

Jensen got out and opened the door for me.

It was a very warm evening, but I’d placed a silk shawl over my almost naked shoulders, save for thin dress straps.

“This way,” he said. “My employer is waiting for you in the drawing room.”

“Will you be coming in with me?”

“I’m permitted to go as far as the drawing room door.”

I was losing my nerve. “I’m not sure I can do this.”

Jensen stopped. “Would you like me to take you home?” He seemed concerned.

“Do you promise to wait for me?”

“I won’t go anywhere, but for your own peace of mind, you’re free to leave any time you wish.”

“Okay then,” I said, feeling reassured. “I’ll go in.”

“Do you need my assistance tackling the steps?”

“Huh?” I hadn’t banked on the long flight of stairs leading to the house being as steep as they were. “Erm, yes, please, Jensen. Neither this dress, nor my heels are designed to navigate stairs.”

  “Please, take my hand.”

“Thank you.” I took his hand and allowed him to escort me.

As we reached the crescendo, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the opening bars of Strauss’ The Blue Danube Waltz.

Walking along the veranda toward the entrance, I glanced around for signs of a sound system, and to my complete surprise, I noticed an orchestra had been set up in a small part of the vast grounds. They were playing just for me.

“Oh, my…” I said, overcome with emotion. “It’s like a real-life Disney movie.” I didn’t want to cry. My make-up would be ruined.

“You know this piece?” he asked,

“It’s my favourite piece of music in the whole world.” I was entranced by the music and the setting made it that little more magical. “My father used to play it to me as a child – I’ve always loved it.”

I racked my brain, trying to think who would know my penchant for this piece of music, and only one person sprung to mind – the soon to be ex-husband.

“Tell me I’m not meeting who I think it is.”

“Who do you think is inside?”

“My husband,” I replied, “Well, ex-husband, as soon as I’ve signed the divorce papers.”

  “Would that be so bad?”

  “The worst.”

“Maybe he has realised the error of his ways and is once again trying to regain his place in your heart?”

“Are we talking about the same person here?”

“Patience is a virtue, Miss Childs, and my knowledge of your soon to be ex-husband is limited, at best.”

“You’re good at holding your tongue,” I said. “I doubt you’d spill state secrets under threat of torture.”

  He smiled. “Probably not.”

  The orchestra had me enthralled.

I looked across and noticed the musicians were all decked out in tuxedos – a lovely touch.

“It’s just beautiful,” was all I could manage to say.

I watched the orchestra – the music continuing to spellbind me.

A part of me wanted to rush over and dance along, show the musicians how happy and appreciative I was, but somebody was waiting for me.

“Shall we go inside?” Jensen asked.

“Before we go, will you thank them all for me?”

  “The orchestra?” he quizzed.

“Yes. Tell them they were out of this world.”

“I’ll do that once you’re where you’re supposed to be.”

  “Okay, let’s go.”

  He led me inside.

It was just as I imagined it to be, palatial in every sense of the word.

“This place is jaw dropping – do you live here?”

“Sometimes,” he replied. “But it is no longer my home.”

  “How come?”

“I don’t spend a lot of time in England, by choice.”

“Oh,” I asked, curious to know. “Where do you call home?”

  “Lake Geneva.”

  “Switzerland?”

  “Yes.”

If he’d said Monte Carlo, I’d have understood completely. He was a playboy, I could see that much, but what was so special about Lake Geneva for a man as young as him?

“How long have you lived in Switzerland?”

“About five years now. It is the most peaceful place on Earth, and in my humble opinion, there isn’t a better view than the Dents du Midi.”

  “So, you were educated there?”

“No, I was educated at Eton College.”

Aha. “That explains it,” I blurted out, before I had a chance to think before speaking.

We walked through the grand rooms.

  “Explains what?”

  “Your demeanour, amongst other things.”

  “Oh?” he said.

“You have the most beautiful speaking voice.”

  “That is most kind.”

“When you speak, it feels like I’ve been whisked inside the pages of an old-fashioned novel.”

“My parents paid a lot of money for my education.” He chuckled.

“Yes, I guess they would have. That sort of education doesn’t come cheap, but it begs another question – why is an Etonian working as a simple Chauffeur?”

  “It’s an honest profession.”

“But you are a man of means, I’d stake my life on it?”

“I’m a man of many means, Miss Childs,” he said, standing outside a large oak door. “But money and status have never impressed me.”

“I see.” I felt like I’d just been reprimanded.

“Now, please put your mask on.”

I’d almost forgotten about that stupid thing. “Do I have to wear it?”

I left the shawl on an ornate chair outside the drawing room.

“If you want to continue with the game, I suggest you do.”

I’d rather play a game with you.

“Here, let me help you,” he said, walking around me. Leaning in close to me, he gently tucked my hair behind my ears. I could once again feel his breath on my bare neck. I shuddered. “Are you okay?”

  “I’m fine, Jensen.”

  “Please, pass me the mask.”

  I did as he asked.

He raised it over my head, allowing me to guide it to where it would sit.

  “That’s fine,” I said.

He fastened the silk ties at the back and walked back to face me. “Simply divine,” he said.

“Is it time for me to go in?”

  “Whenever you’re ready.”

  “Wait for me, please.”

“Of course,” he said. “Now, enjoy your evening – it has been carefully planned.”

I wasn’t going to waste my breath asking what he meant, because I knew he wouldn’t tell me anyway. Silence is considered golden in the business world and he had it down to a fine art.

“See you later,” I said, pressing the fancy door handle down, and stepping into the unknown.

  Chapter Eleven

Jensen picked up the silk shawl and brought it up to his nose, inhaling Cammie’s delicious aroma.

  Jealousy coursed through his veins.

He wanted her so badly, but she didn’t belong to him.

She might be older than him, but he’d met the woman of his dreams.

Cammie was everything he wanted. Beautiful, smart, kind, intelligent and undeniably sexy – sensuality oozed out of her pores.

What he couldn’t fathom is why she had agreed to accompany him tonight?

She had no idea who had summoned her and why, but Jensen did, and she was about to discover it for herself.

Being totally honest, he wanted Cammie to tear up the invitation and throw him out into the street. If she’d done what
he hoped, he would have engineered a chance encounter with her down the line.

Cammie’s age and experience were a major turn on, but he wasn’t sure she’d craved anything but mind-blowing sex with him.

Jensen knew she wanted him too, her attraction to him was blindingly obvious, but in what capacity.

He could rock her world in so many ways.

Watching her slide on the stockings earlier this evening was one of the most alluringly erotic experiences of his life. He wanted to drop to his knees, crawl over to her, bury his tongue deep in her pussy, and hear her moan with orgasmic pleasure. Never had he wanted to taste a woman as much as he had right then. But, she wasn’t his to taste, despite the fact his cock strained against his trousers.

What I could do to her with my cock, he thought.

He had to keep a cool head, but in a few short hours, she’d burrowed deep into his soul.

Thinking back to happier times. He sat close to his mother, Alyssa, as she recounted the tale of how she met his father, Aiden. Theirs really was a fairy tale romance.

“You’ll know when you know,” Alyssa always used to say to Jensen, and he knew, today, he’d met the one.

But he didn’t stand a chance. Not with Zander playing the game. He’d seen it too many times – women fell at his feet, unable to resist what they considered, charm.

It was all part of Zander’s controlling nature. He liked the fact women threw themselves at him and liked it even more when he cast them aside.

  Chapter Twelve

I stepped into the dimly lit room.

“Hello,” I called out. The room appeared empty. “Is anybody here?”

A fire crackled in the hearth, and I could still hear the orchestra playing outside. I couldn’t tell what the song was, but knowing they were playing for me, made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

“Good evening, Cammie,” a deep male voice said, startling me.

I couldn’t see who it was, or where it was coming from.

  “Who’s there?”

  “Don’t you recognise my voice?”

“I’m too old for childish games.”

  “That does surprise me.”

  “Why?” I asked.

“Because you’ve played this one very well so far.”

  “Come out, wherever you are.”
