On October 6, 2027, in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, Ranjit Lal, chief executive officer, opened the first plenary session of all forty-three signatory nations of the World Federation Holding Group Incorporated. Standing by his side was the premier of the People’s Republic of China and the president of the United States of America. Lal spoke for forty-seven minutes and was interrupted by applause more than eighty times from the audience of more than a thousand members, investors, media, and special invited guests.
The news media recorded that when Lal finished his address, at the end of the standing ovation, the delegation members from the Netherlands rose from their seats, each holding a lit candle aloft before them. One by one, other delegations, upon seeing the display, reached into their pockets for matches, cigarette lighters, whatever they could find or borrow from a neighbor, and lit them to hold aloft as well, until the entire assembly were standing, silently offering their flaming tribute and their commitment to an overwhelmed and tearful Ranjit Lal. Somewhere, one of the engineers lowered the assembly lights for several minutes.

David H. Spielberg Biography
David H. Spielberg was born and raised in New York City. He received his doctorate degree in physics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His thesis research on organic semiconductors was performed at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York. After graduating, he worked as a research scientist in the petrochemical industry and as a project manager in the automated fare collection and air pollution control industries. He holds several materials patents relating to catalytic cracking of petroleum. He was director of operations for a mail-order fulfillment company, a contract real estate appraiser, and a branch manager for Connecticut National Bank. He also was the president of his own consulting firm specializing in operations research and business planning. Dr. Spielberg was a commentator for National Public Radio, authored an opinion column for the New Haven Register, and was editor/publisher of a South Florida quarterly poetry magazine. He taught as adjunct faculty for Southern Connecticut State University, the University of New Haven Graduate School of Industrial Engineering and Computer Science, and Queens College of the City University of New York. He has contributed numerous opinion pieces to the Palm Beach Post. Dr. Spielberg is widely traveled in the United States, Mexico, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Lithuania, Turkey, India, and Israel. He is currently science chairman at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where he lives with his wife, Liudmila.
