“Nymphs cannot control their water power until after they have trained for a long time.”

“It even took weeks in order for your boys’ healing ability to manifest. That is why it took so much time in order for you to heal from Ofilla’s attack. Had you been carrying a certain Elf’s boys,” Miriam says batting her eyelashes at me. “…you would have healed much sooner.”

“I have even heard tale of a pregnant elf coming back to life after she had been dead only moments before.” Kema retells her story with heightened enthusiasm.

Miriam laughs. “That is an old wives tale. It would take a strong bond to do something like that.”

“Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.” Kema argues.

“None of them had it as bad as Familiars.” Tipper says in my head. “The parents eat the weak. I was only a few pounds away from being my mother’s snack. My younger brother did not fare so well.”

  I gasp in my head.

Poor Tipper. Compared to the ones in this room, it didn’t require much to be a great mother. The fact that I stayed around after the birth, and didn’t eat one of them made me mother of the year.

A soft knock at my bedroom door drew our attention.

  “Come in.” I call out.

The door opens and Assassin walks in. Today he is wearing a black leather top coat. The fit is tailored to showcase his wide chest and slim waist. The length stops right at the top of his powerful thighs. He looks like the character Jon Snow in the Game of Thrones. His black pants showcase his muscled legs. The entire outfit has my jaw hitting the floor. All that black against his pale skin and dark hair is sinful. From the moment he walks into the room his eyes never leave me.

  “Ladies!” he says in greeting.

“Assassin.” They return all with twinges of laughter.

I have to look away from the intensity in his eyes. Just from a look he promises my body pleasure and heats my blood, sending moisture to pool at my center. Assassin sniffs the air and his eyes close in utter bliss. It’s like he can smell my body’s call to him.

“Hello, Lilly.” His voice is a raspy growl.

I have to swallow the moan that threatens to slip out. How can a man have that much control over my body?

  “Hello, Assassin.”

Is that my voice that sounds so breathy?

Someone clears their throat and I finally remember that we are not in the room alone.

“We will be out of your way shortly.” Miriam explains as she tries to cover her knowing smile.

I didn’t have to tell them about Assassin and I. They took one look at me and knew it. They all thought it was great news. Kema said that she liked Assassin for me way more than Rykan. Even Tipper was happy for me, though she thought all males were disgusting.

“Actually,” Assassin stops them from leaving. “I was coming to take Lilly for a walk. Is that alright?”

“Yes!” I reply trying to keep the excitement out of my voice. “Miriam would you mind…” She doesn’t let me get the rest of my question out before agreeing to stay with the boys.

“I think Mr. Stubborn is ready for a burp and a change.” I say as I detach my youngest from my breast.

Before Miriam could take him from me, Assassin is there.

  “Allow me.” He says.

  “Wait, Assassin, he needs changing.”

I try to warn him, but he picks him up out of my lap and holds him to his chest like a football.

“Don’t worry, Lilly. I have fought Ogres. I can handle a smelly diaper.” He gives me a wink.

I thought Assassin was amazing before, but seeing him with my son, makes me fall for him harder.

“Come, young king.” Assassin says as he takes my son to the changing table on the other side of the room. “Let us see what the damage is…. My Gods, Kid!!! What is in your mother’s milk?” Assassin shouts and I have to hide my laugh at the look of pure terror on his face as he peers down into my son’s diaper. “At least we found what you took from your father. The likeness is uncanny.”

Try as they might the ladies in the room cannot cover their laughs. It is a mixture of the face Assassin is making and his joke about Rykan that has me letting go of my own laugh.

“Would you like my help, Assassin?” Miriam offers.

“No!” He says waving Miriam away focusing hard on the task before him. “I can do this. I must learn.”

Those words. ‘I must learn.’ They touch me in a special way. Was he learning because he planned to do this more often? Was he telling me he was going to be a permanent fixture in my boy’s life? The thought sends euphoria rushing through my veins.

I want nothing more than to not only supply Assassin with kids of our own, but I also want him to accept my boys.

“Funny,” Tipper starts. “The babe is not crying.”

It is then that I realize that my fussy and usually non-friendly child isn’t crying. He seems to be watching Assassin with those intelligent hazel eyes.

“Alright, little one…” Assassin says drawing my attention. “You are all cleaned up.” He lifts the baby up and pats his back and right away my son burps.

Then the most amazing thing happens, my youngest son smiles at someone other than me. The sight of him smiling at Assassin warms my heart and I have to blink away the tears. Even my boys seem to approve of him.

Assassin hands the baby over to Miriam after placing a kiss to his forehead.

“Alright, you’re next.” He says to my oldest that is still in my arms.

After changing both boys and assisting with putting them to sleep, Assassin led me out of the room. He covers my eyes as we walk the halls of the glass castle.

“Can I open my eyes now?” I ask after it feels like I have been walking for forever.

“Almost, my beautiful impatient one.” He drops a kiss on my shoulder before continuing to pull me with him.

Finally he stops in a room that feels humid. The smell of flowers fragrant the air and I can hear the sound of running water.

  “Open your eyes, Lilly.”

I am marveled by the sights before me. Rectangular in shape with a curved glass roof, the room has the appearance of a loaf of bread. Two levels, only the second floor consist of a wraparound walk way. Arched glass windows ran the length of both floors. Crown molding decorated the archways and ran along the walls. White stone is placed on the floor. Large antique lanterns hung from the ceiling like chandeliers. The space is huge and filled to the brim with plants. Plants that were short, tall, plants that crawled like vines along the floor and walls. There were plants that hung from the ceiling and plants that came straight from the ground. Plants that carried flowers and some that held berries. So many different shades of green were showcased in this room that I now realize is an atrium. The air is warm and humid and gave off a tropical feel. Even though the moon light cast a silver shadow across the wide room it is still easy to see the beautiful flowers. I walk into the room spinning around trying to take in all the sights. I couldn’t find just one thing that made this room so beautiful. It was the collection of things. From the structure and the artistry that went into the details of the room. To the plants that gave the room its color. The sight of the beautiful night sky through the glass roof. Even the complex designs of the water fountains throughout the room added to its beauty. All of it together made for a stunning sight.

  “This is gorgeous.”

“This isn’t even the best part.” He explains as he takes my hand and guides me further into the room.

“What could be better than this?” I lift a hand indicating the beauty in the room.

  “Patience.” he playfully reprimands.

He stops me in the middle of the room. There is a large fountain behind me. It is three tiered and at the top of the tier is a stone carving of a mermaid with her breasts bared and a turquoise tail. She holds a bowl over her head that spills water down into the other tiers.

“There is a reason they call this the room of stars. But you hav
e to wait for it.” He smiles down at me. “In the meantime, I have something for you.” He’s holding my butterfly pendant in his hands. “May I?”

I lift my hair so he can place the necklace on my neck.

“Thank you! Again.” I chuckle remembering the first time he gave me the necklace.

It felt right having my necklace back in place. Since the day Assassin gave me the charm when I was six I have never taken it off. Only once did I lose it on a camping trip. At the time I had no idea how the pendant ended up back on my dresser when I got home, but now I know that he must have put it there. That’s when a thought came to me.

“You can track the necklace, can’t you? That’s how you can always find me?” The moment the necklace was released from that jar, Assassin appeared in the forest. It couldn’t be a coincidence.

His silver eyes lighten as he smiles at me. “Very perceptive. You are right. As long as this necklace is on your neck I will be able to find you anywhere. I’ve added a few more tricks to it this time.”

I look down at the necklace on my neck, not seeing any difference in the charm or simple box chain.

  “What tricks?”

He reaches up and snatches the necklace from my neck. I panic, thinking he has broken it, but when I look down, the necklace is still there.

  “How did you….”

“The chain is unbreakable. It can never be removed again unless you take it off.” He smiles at his clever idea.

I have to say, I’m thankful for his foresight. I never again want to be anywhere that Assassin can’t find me.

  “Thank you!”

“I will always look out for your safety, Lilly. Not just you, but your sons are also my first priority. You should never fear that I will not come to you. There is nowhere you can go that I will not follow. It may take longer than planned, but I will always come for you.”

Looking in those enchanting silver eyes, I can read the honesty and severity of his words. His eyes has the power to turn my blood to lava and make wetness coat the inside of my thighs. It also has the ability to quicken my heart.

The power he wields over me.

All my life I have longed for a man like Assassin. Someone that would love me. Someone that would cherish me and see pass what others thought were flaws. With one look he makes me feel like I am the most beautiful girl in the room. With a touch he turns me into something cherished and worshipped. And with just a sentence he shows me just how much I am loved. All this time I thought I was waiting for love. I told myself that I wasn’t ready for it. But I believe I wasn’t just waiting for any love, I was waiting for Assassin’s.

Uncle Buddy was right, there is nothing greater than being in love.

“Well since you have claimed to be my guardian,” I joke. “Maybe you can teach me to fight.” I turn my back to him to study the fountain again. I have to turn away from him before I jump his bones. I don’t want him to think I only want him for sex.

  Assassin laughs behind me.

“Have you forgotten so soon, I’ve already taught you to fight?”

I turn back and smile as I think about the visions he showed me in that dream. How he held my hands and directed my fist to swing and my legs to kick.

“Yes,” I chuckle. “But beating up a bunch of asshole kids and punching an immortal is not the same.”

I involuntarily shake out my still sore fist. The moment I realized my actions is the exact moment I realize my slip of words.

Assassin goes still and the atmosphere in the room changes. No longer is it light and airy, but thick and charged with tension.

“How would you know what it feels like to punch an immortal?”

I’m not particularly fond of Rykan at the moment, but I also don’t want to be the cause of his death. And if I tell Assassin what happened, I’m pretty sure it would definitely ensure his death.

  “Deductive reasoning?”

The lie doesn’t even sound believable to my ears.

  “Lilly!” he growls a warning.

“Oh fine,” I sigh. “I might have punched Rykan in the face today.”

Assassin shakes his head. “Let me see.” He lifts me up as if it is my feet that are injured and carries me to a large stone table. He sits me down next to the garden shears and a trowel. He stands between my legs bringing a certain part of his body snuggly to a throbbing part of mine. He reaches for my hand and exams the redden knuckles.

“You must be cautious, Lilly,” He looks over my hand, straightening the fingers and stretching them out. “You are no longer gifted with the abilities of the twins.”

After seeing there was nothing to be alarmed about, he places a warm kiss to the sensitive skin.

“Although I commend your actions, I have to question what brought them on.”

“He kissed me…..or at least he tried.” I say trying to smooth out the hard look my confession brought to his face.

Nothing but the twitching of his eye alerts me that he is still breathing.

  “I will kill him.”

I cup his face between my hands before he can do that disappearing thing.

“I handled it.” I reinsure him, making sure he sees the truth in my eyes. “Rykan understands that I am yours. He now knows that there is nothing left for him and me.”

Assassin’s face softens. He turns his head and plant a kiss in the palm of my hand.

“Very well,” He says. “But I will be paying him a visit to make sure that he fully understands your point.”

I don’t even argue with him. At least he isn’t going to kill him.

“So,” I start. “Now will you teach me to fight? And I mean with the real stuff, like swords, and arrows, and those stick things with the chain and spikey ball.”

He laughs. “You mean a mace?”

  I nod.

Ever since I was a little girl I have had an interest in weapons. My Uncle Buddy had me shooting beer cans in the woods as early as five, by six I was hunting squirrels. I have never shied away from a weapon. I grew up where most of our meats were from my uncle’s hunting trips. I could skin an entire deer in under 20 minutes with a hunting knife by the time I was eleven. Being here and seeing all the many weapons they use, I’ve been dying to get my hands on them. I believe Assassin when he says he will always protect me but, I also know from experience that it is ok to be able to protect yourself sometimes.

“I do not wish for you to fight…”

  “But...” I start.

He places a finger over my mouth halting my words.

“But, if it will make you happy then I will teach you. And as a bonus, it will supply you with the necessary means to break Rykan’s jaw if he ever tries to touch you again.”

I throw my arms over his shoulder and pull him into me for what was supposed to be a quick kiss. However the moment our lips touch, that hunger overtakes us. He devours my lips kissing me passionately. I curl my fingers into the silky hair at the back of his neck. His hands land on my waist jerking my body closer to the edge of the table. I immediately feel his massive erection and I hiss as it nudges my soaked center.

“Why can’t I get enough of you?” I whisper against his lips.

Even the thought of me not being able to be with him in this way makes me whimper into his mouth.

Assassin fist my hair and yanks my head back dominating the kiss. He sucks my bottom lip into his mouth with a growl. Then dives his tongue back between my parted lips. I love the taste of him, the smell of him, the feel of his hard body pressed into my soft body. I love everything about this man.

“I need to be inside you, Lilly. I promised that I would keep my hands to myself tonight, but I fucking have to have you.” his hands grab the sheer fabric of my dress and ease it up my body. Once the fabric clears my head he tosses it to the atrium floor. His hot mouth latch on to my hardened nipples and I squeal as pure lust shoots through me. He lavishes one breast before moving to the next. All the time my bare bottom rocks against the cold stone slab leav
ing a trail of my arousal. He release my puckered nipple with a pop before placing a kiss on my lips.

He places a hand in the middle of my chest and push my body to lie back. The sudden cold of the slab feels good against my heated flesh.

His finger runs through my slick folds and elicit a moan from me. Long fingers push into my soaking wet center then twirls my arousal around my hardened nub.

“I love your pussy, Lilly.” His fingers continue to work me as he places kisses over my hips.

I would have been embarrassed by my new stretch marks that cover my hips. But the way Assassin brushes kisses over them makes me unashamed of my body.

  “Always so wet for me.”

My essence pools between my legs and runs down my thighs. I have never gotten this wet before.

“I have to taste you.” his lips drop lower to my center until I can feel his warm breath brush against my glistening sex. He buries his nose between my legs and takes a deep breath, then hums his approval against my lower lips.

“Assassin.” I purr his name needing him to soothe the ache he has caused.

He knows what I need. He dives in, eating me as if I am the greatest meal he has ever tasted. He devours me, moaning and slurping at my essence. It feels so good I can barely make coherent thoughts to form words. A combination of random syllables leave my lips. I do not know if every man does this well at oral-sex, but I would bet they do not.

That little balloon that fills up inside me and triggers my release, fills up fast. I am almost on the edge when I place a hand in his hair and start to grind my center into his face. Apparently Assassin loves my reaction. He swears as he pushes my legs further apart and continues to feast on me. When he sucks my swollen clit into his mouth, I have reached my breaking point. I shoot up from the table like a woman possessed, only my head and hips touch the cold slab, as I yell my release. My body convulses as my climax takes me on a ride. Every time I would seem to come down, Assassin would lick, suck, or twirl me back into another orgasm. When my body feels completely spent I whimper for him to stop.

  “I can’t…” I mutter.
