“Stay,” she whispered, burying her face in his neck.
“Always.”
He set her back on her boots just to give her enough steadiness for him to crash a kiss down on her upturned, ready lips. She threaded her fingers through his hair as if she’d never let go, and the touch sent a shiver through him as if she’d unlocked some deepest secret. Mine. Mine. Mine.
Yours. Yours. Yours.
They sank to water-worn stone, filling their arms and mouths and breaths with each other, and the badland cavern echoed with their passion.
Afterward, he said only, “Good thing she’s not born yet.”
Lindy snuggled against him. “We’ll have to make the honeymoon count.”
But when he led her out into the bright autumn sunlight, he blinked like he was the one being born. “I thought I’d die for my keyholder,” he told her. “Now I’m living for her.”
She turned her face up for his kiss, her hair glimmering like his own silver-gold sun. “Living and loving.”
