A Letter from Emma

Hello, and thank you so much for choosing to read The Wife’s Choice. I hope you enjoyed reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you’d like to stay updated on what’s coming next, please do sign up to my newsletter here and you’ll be the first to know!

At Bookouture, writers fall into two broad groups (names invented by ourselves I should add) – those who write for The Dark Side and those who sit on The Sparkly Step. Since joining Bookouture, I’ve always been a firm Sparkly, but my previous novel, My Husband’s Lie, saw a return to perhaps a much earlier style of writing for me, but one which took me very firmly off The Sparkly Step. I’ve always touched upon the darker side of life in all my books, but with The Wife’s Choice I’ve again really explored the emotional dilemmas which we all face from time to time. It’s not The Dark Side however, I hope you agree, and only a teeny bit Sparkly so I think I’ve landed somewhere in the middle with this one. I’ve really enjoyed being here, however, so I think I might stay for a while…

Of course none of this would have happened without the support of my wonderful editor, Jessie Botterill, who has been so encouraging and supportive of this slightly different style. Huge thanks to her and everyone at Bookouture for making this possible, but also to you, lovely readers, for choosing to read my books. You really do make everything worthwhile.

Having folks take the time to get in touch really does make my day, and if you’d like to contact me then I’d love to hear from you. The easiest way to do this is by finding me on Twitter and Facebook, or you could also pop by my website where you can read about my love of Pringles among other things…

I hope to see you again very soon and, in the meantime, if you’ve enjoyed reading The Wife’s Choice, I would really appreciate a few minutes of your time to leave a review or post on social media. Every single review makes a massive difference and is very much appreciated!

  Until next time,

  Love, Emma xx

Down a winding lane lined with strawberry trees and wildflowers lies Appleyard Farm, a beautiful orchard in the English countryside. And in a little farmhouse in the furthest corner, a young woman has a difficult decision to make…

Life on Appleyard Farm is all Freya Sherbourne has ever known. Having spent her childhood playing in the emerald green meadows and berry picking until sunset, Freya intends to call the farmhouse home forever. But when her father suddenly passes away and Appleyard Farm goes up for sale, Freya’s world comes crashing down.

Holding back the tears, she starts packing boxes while waiting for a buyer. Now the river no longer sparkles, and the apples taste a little less sweet. Until Freya learns the exciting news that her best friends Merry and Willow are moving nearby to open a local shop. And when someone from her past re-emerges, handsomer than ever and offering to mend the cracks in her broken heart, Freya’s eyes begin to twinkle once again.

But falling in love is scary, especially when you don’t know what the future holds. And when Freya discovers that her new love has been keeping a secret, one that threatens both their fragile relationship and the farm, she risks losing everything.

Pulling up her signature striped socks and throwing herself into her chores, little by little Flora learns to love the order and patterns of life on the land. But the more she learns about her new home, the more she suspects it’s under threat, and worse, that Ned is hiding a heartbreaking secret from her.
