The Reign of Rain Robinson

Barbara stood up. “Talk to you later,” she said to Ram and pulled Jolina by the arm as they all got out of there and walked to the car. They rode in silence until Kayla broke the ice.

“I just want to know what all three of y’all was doing back there?” Kayla asked, even though she had a pretty good idea. She had known Jolina longer than Barbara and Destiny, and even though that was her girl, she knew Jolina was a ho.

“I did both of them, duh.”

  “What?” Barbara said.

“At the same time?” Destiny asked.

“Yeah.” Jolina didn’t seem ashamed. “I know what y’all thinking.”

“What … that you a ho? Yeah, we are,” Destiny said.

“I am not a ho, Destiny.”

“It’s true, you’re officially a ho,” Barbara said. “You fucked both of them? What were you thinking?”

“About getting some,” Jolina said. “I know y’all are good girls and all, but I likes to get mine.”

“Y’all shouldn’t be surprised,” Kayla said, shaking her head. “We don’t call her the fast one for nothing.”

“How could you do that?” Destiny needed to know.

“It didn’t start out that way. At first it was just me and Dequain, and we were into it when Azibo came in the room.”

“So, you had sex with them … at the same time?” Destiny asked. Like Barbara, she was a virgin, so she couldn’t really wrap her head around how that would go.

Barbara still didn’t get it; she just couldn’t get over Jolina giving it up so easily. Even though Jolina was two years older than her, Destiny, and Kayla, to Barbara it was like she had no self-respect. But there was a part of her that was suddenly more curious about sex.

It must be good if it could make Jolina fuck them both … at the same time.

  Chapter Nineteen

Rain was on her back with her feet in the air, and Denny was deep inside her. She met him the same way that she met DP; hanging out with Analicia and calling herself Lucy. He had been calling ever since, begging to see her. Late that night, he called begging at a time when she was bored and wanted to fuck, so she met him at a hotel.

But Rain had to leave to take care of some business and Denny promised to wait there until she got back. It was after six in the morning when Rain got back to the room, and as promised, Denny was right there waiting for her, so it was time to fuck. He had a big dick but didn’t know how to use it. He was all poke and jab, and Rain hated that.

  No skills at all.

It was just starting to get good when her satellite phone began ringing, and Black was the only one who had that number. “Fuck!” she shouted.

“Yeah, I’m getting this pussy,” he said.

“No, you ain’t.” Rain pushed him off her, rolled over and grabbed the phone. “Hello.”

  “Hello, Ms. Robinson,” Black said.

“You haven’t called me that in a long time,” Rain said, and it made her think back to the days when she was always in trouble, and hoped she wasn’t now.

“I know. Did I catch you at a bad time?”

Rain looked at Denny stroking his dick and shook her head. “No. What’s up, Black?”

“You on the phone with some other mutha fucka while I’m laying here.” Denny shouted.

Rain reached in the nightstand drawer and took out her gun. She pointed it at Denny. “Shut up.”

His eyes got big, his dick got soft and Denny didn’t open his mouth again.

  “Sorry, Black. What’s up?”

“I’m sorry to interrupt …” Black paused, “whatever you got going there, but I need you to meet Jake at the airport.”

  “When?”

  “Now. He’s waiting for you.”

Rain got out of bed and walked toward the bathroom, phone in one hand and gun in the other. “Where am I going?”

  “To Freeport.”

  “Everything all right?”

“I’ll tell you when you get here.”

  Fuck!

“I’m on my way,” Rain said and closed the bathroom door knowing that she was in trouble. When she closed the door, Denny sprang up from the bed, dressed as quickly as he could, and got outta there.

When Rain arrived at the airport, Jake was ready to take off, and she flew the Cesena to Freeport. During the flight, she put her on autopilot and thought about what Black wanted to talk about that he would send the jet. But any opportunity to fly was all right with her.

Once Rain landed in Freeport, Napoleon got on.

  “Hey, Napoleon.”

“Purple Rain, what’s up?” he said and looked at Jake.

“I’ll have her refueled and ready to go as soon as I can,” Jake said and left the cockpit.

“Call me when you are done,” Napoleon said and turned to Rain. “Come, the boss is waiting to have a chat with you at Palais de Plaisir.”

On the way to Plaisir, the house that Jada built in Freeport to rival Paraíso, Rain wanted Napoleon to tell her what was going on, but Napoleon told her no. When she reminded him that she was the underboss of The Family, and for that reason alone, he should tell her what Black wanted to talk about, Napoleon laughed.

“You know the boss is a very wise man.”

“He told you I would say that, didn’t he?”

  “Of course, he did.”

“What did he say?” Rain asked.

“The boss said to remind you that he said that he, and he said be sure to emphasize the word, he,” Napoleon said and laughed, “Would tell you when you get here. He also said to remind you that he, and here again the boss asked me to emphasize the word, he, is still the boss of this Family, so even if I wanted to, and this time, I would like to emphasize the word, he, has ordered me not to tell you what this is all about.”

  “But you know, don’t you?”

“Of course, I do,” Napoleon said as the driver passed through the gates at Palais de Plaisir. Security opened the door for Rain, and she was escorted in the building. From there, she was introduced to Nakeisha and told that she would escort her to the office where Black was waiting.

“Come,” Black said when Nakeisha knocked on the door.

She opened the door and announced Rain. “I have Ms. Robinson to see you, Mr. Black,” Nakeisha said and followed Rain in.

“Hello, Rain,” he said from behind the desk.

“Hey, Black,” she said, glad that he didn’t call her Ms. Robinson. To her, it meant that she wasn’t in trouble. And if she was, it wasn’t that bad.

“Have a seat,” Black said, in a tone that made Rain less confident in her status.

“Can I get you a cocktail, Ms. Robinson?” Nakeisha asked.

  “Patrón, neat.”

“And you, Mr. Black; would you like one as well?”

  “Thank you.”

As Nakeisha went to fix the drinks, Black looked at Rain for a second or two and then he smiled.

  “How was your flight?”

“Great. I love to fly,” Rain said.

“Yeah, me too. Jake says your landings are getting better.”

“Today was a little shaky, but yeah, they are,” she said, as Nakeisha handed her a glass and then she placed Black’s on the desk.

“Can I get anything else for you, Mr. Black?”

“That will be all, Nakeisha, thank you,” Black said, and waited until Nakeisha closed the door before he spoke. “Tell me about you, Carter and El Decreto de Guerra.”

  Fuck.

“Carter’s been hunting Damián Custodio for having Reese killed, and Geno and Smoke getting shot, so one night, we rolled by Mar Y Tierra, he was there, shots were fired, but he got away.”

  “And?”

“And we torched one of his warehouses.”

“You know I know about the warehouse, right?”

“How they know it was me and Carter that hit their warehouse?” Rain needed to know.

  “They had camera’s, Rain.”

“I didn’t think about that. It wasn
’t a planned operation. We were just gonna ride by there and see if he was there.” Rain smiled. “Burning the bitch to the ground just seemed like a good idea at the time.”

  “You’re idea or Carter’s?”

  “Carter’s.”

“I saw the video.” Black laughed. “Great shoot out. Especially the part when Carter comes running out blasting under heavy fire,” Black said enthusiastically. “Very exciting.”

“We had to get outta there. I set the timers for five minutes,” Rain explained.

“Why didn’t you use remote detonators?”

Rain shrugged her shoulders. “Didn’t have any.”

“That’s right, it wasn’t a planned operation.” Black shook his head. “Are you hungry?”

“Starving. Why, we going to your house to eat?” Rain asked, because she loved his mother’s cooking and missed it.

“No, I had Chef make something for us.” Black reclined in his chair and pointed at Rain. “But under normal circumstances, that’s where we’d be going; she’d insist. But she doesn’t know you’re here. Neither does Cassandra.”

  “Nobody knows I’m here?”

“Napoleon and Jake … and Nakeisha.”

  Oh shit.

“Are you going to kill me?” Rain asked jokingly, but she needed to know.

Black laughed. “No. We’re gonna have lunch and as soon as Jake has the jet ready, you’re gonna fly us to Venezuela to talk to Rodrigo Iñíguez about this shit … and hopefully he’s gonna give us something we want,” Black stood up.

  “What’s that?”

  “I’ll tell you over lunch.”

They were just about finished the lunch that Chef prepared for them by the infinity pool when Jake called and said that the Cesena was ready to take off whenever they were ready for the flight to Venezuela. When they exited the plane in Caracas, they were met by Rodrigo Iñíguez’s men and taken to his house. When they arrived, Rodrigo was out on his deck, and he stood up when he saw them coming.

“Mike, it is good to see you again,” Rodrigo said and shook Black’s hand. “And this must certainly be the indomitable, Rain Robinson.”

“Yes, and it’s an honor to meet you, Mr. Iniguez,” Rain said graciously.

“It’s Rodrigo, and believe me, the honor is mine.” Rodrigo bowed. “Please … sit,” he said and signaled to the man and woman who were standing by the bar. The woman immediately brought two glasses and placed them on the table before Black and Rain. Rodrigo pointed to Rain’s glass.

  “Patrón, isn’t it?”

“Yes, thank you,” Rain said and that told her that Rodrigo knew everything about her.

“How long will you be staying in my country?”

“Unfortunately, we have other matters to attend to, so we’ll be flying back as soon as we conclude our business in your fine country,” Black said.

“Then let’s get right to it, shall we? The situation between your people,” he said looking at Rain. “And El Decreto de Guerra.”

“As you are aware, one of my best men was murdered on the order of Mr. Custodio. Naturally, many of his friends would like a measure of payback.”

“I understand, all too well, the passions of men when their blood runs hot with the sweet taste of revenge.”

“I am glad that you understand,” Black said and wondered, if you understand, then why are we here?

“However,” Rodrigo said and raised his finger to emphasize his point. “Personal matters of revenge should not interfere with business.”

  “I agree,” Black said.

“Damián Custodio having your man killed was a personal matter,” Rodrigo said.

  “How so?” Black asked.

“It was my understanding that your man was having relations with Mr. Custodio’s wife.”

  “I see.”

“The other two men getting shot was, shall we say … collateral damage.”

“Collateral damage?” Rain questioned with attitude.

“Yes, Ms. Robinson, it was collateral damage. Something that I am sure that you understand.”

Rain said nothing; one, because Black told her to behave. He is a better ally than an enemy. And two, because he was right. I did blow up a warehouse.

“However, I can assure you that there will be no future animosity. You have my word on that.”

“That’s acceptable.” Black looked at Rain and she nodded her head. “Now, about that other matter we discussed.”

“The gentleman you seek is staying at a villa called Rancho de Chana,” Rodrigo informed him. “If you like, I can have my men take you there.”

When Black stood up, Rain did too. “That won’t be necessary,” Rain said. “Just tell me the address and we’ll take it from there.”

When they arrived at Rancho de Chana, Black and Rain went directly to the villa with their gloves on and Black knocked on the door with his gun in his hand. It took a few minutes, but a man finally opened the door.

“Can I help you?” the big man said.

“Is Milton Petty available?” Black asked.

  “Is he expecting you?”

  “No.”

“But I’m sure he’ll see us,” Rain said and shot him in the forehead.

When Milton heard the shot and the body drop, he came running toward the door. He stopped in his tracks.

  “Oh shit.”

“Hello, Milton,” Black said as he and Rain walked in the villa.

“Hello, Mike,” Milton said, and Rain walked up quickly and punched him in the face.

“I’m Rain Robinson.” Rain hit him again, this time with her gun. Milton grabbed his face and looked at Black. He had taken a seat on the couch.

  “Have a seat, Milton.”

Milton sat down in a chair across from Black, Rain followed him to the chair and the second he sat down, she hit him in the head with the barrel of her gun, before bringing it to his temple.

“I bet you’re sitting there, in pain, wondering why Ms. Robinson seems so mad at you?”

“You gotta believe me, Mike,” Milton said, pleadingly. “I had nothing to do with what David was doing. It was him and Kwame. They didn’t tell me anything about it until the night they tried to kill her.”

Black said nothing, and Rain hit him again.

“I swear, Mike, I’m telling the truth.”

Black remained silent, and Rain hit him again and that one drew blood.

Milton spit out the blood. “You’ve known me a long time, Mike.”

  “I have.”

“Does this sound like my kind of move?”

“Honestly, Milton, it doesn’t. So, why don’t you tell Ms. Robinson there, all about David and his plan.” Black looked at Rain. “Why don’t you have a seat, Ms. Robinson.”

Rain punched Milton in the face and then she pulled a chair from the dining area, placed it directly in front of Milton and then she sat down. “I’m listening,” she said with her gun on her lap.

Hoping that it might save his life, for the next thirty minutes Milton told Rain everything that he could think of about his son. He explained the plan, the reason behind it, how it was supposed to work and who was involved. Then he told her about DP’s businesses, both legal and illegal. He went into detail about the drug business that he ran along with Sterling, and that the money was being laundered through the bank.

“Anything else you can think of?” Black asked.

“That’s all I know, Mike, that’s all there is.”

“Are you satisfied?” Black asked Rain.

She nodded her head and stood up. Then she hit him in the mouth with her gun and blood splattered across the room.

  “I hate a fuckin’ snitch.”

Once again, Milton grabbed his face and used his shirt to wipe away his blood.

“So, now what happens?” Milton asked.

“Now you have to answer for Carmen Taylor.”

Milton closed his eyes and his head slowly drifted to his chest.

  Before she w
ent to Paris, Jada made a point of calling Black and telling him about Milton’s involvement in what Carmen had going.

“Thank you for letting me know, Ms. West.”

“I knew that you would want to know.” Jada giggled. “I know how you like to protect your girls.”

“Have fun in Paris, Ms. West.”

“Oh, I shall,” Jada said and ended the call.

Rain hit Milton in the face with her gun.

“Look at the man when he’s talking to you,” Rain said and returned the gun to his temple.

Black leaned forward. “Now that I have your attention, why don’t you explain to me why you tried to have Carmen Taylor killed? Or was that all David’s doing?” Black asked mockingly.

“It was. The human trafficking was David’s too. She was getting close.”

  “Rain.”

She punched Milton in the face with her free hand but kept the gun to his head.

“That’s not actually correct. Ms. Taylor approached you at a function in the Lotus Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Right after she talked to you, you sent men to kill her,” Black said and stood up. “You have to answer for Carmen Taylor today.”

As Black walked up to him, Milton closed his eyes and prepared to die. He crossed himself as Black and Rain raised and then pointed their weapons. Rain shot him in the chest and Black shot Milton in the head.

“Just like old times,” Rain said as they left the villa and went back to the airport. “We should do this more often.”

  Chapter Twenty

It was late when Barbara got a text from Ram, asking what she was doing. She didn’t want to admit it, but she liked him; she liked him more than she should have. He was four years older than she was, and if her parents, especially her father found out, it would not be good.

Barbara still remembered the night that their ride flaked on them and she had to call Pills to come rescue her. Bobby came to the car, gun in hand, and she thought that he was going to kill Pills until he recognized him. Barbara now knew that if he hadn’t recognized Pills, that her father wasn’t just carrying that gun, he was prepared to use it. And here again, that changed everything.

In spite of all that, she had been waiting for Ram to call her and she was disappointed that he chose to text instead. Pam told her that if a guy really liked you, he would pick up the phone and call instead of texting. So, she didn’t respond right away to see what he’d do. A few minutes later when her phone rang, it was him.
