The Reign of Rain Robinson

Barbara had been kidnapped, fondled and threatened with rape. She was still in danger and that’s when she saw the gun on the ground and picked it up.
When Tahanee reached a hallway, she took a deep breath, opened the door and went inside. She scanned the area quickly and saw the kidnappers. She crouched down and opened fire. One dove for the floor and returned fire until his gun was empty, before crawling away as Tahanee exchanged fire with his partner.
He fired at Tahanee and then moved to try to get a better angle on her. She fired as he raised his weapon, hitting the kidnapper twice in the chest. Tahanee rushed up to him and kicked the gun away before shooting him again.
After laying there watching his boy die, the other man crawled to the door to getaway. When he stood up he ran and tried to make it out of the warehouse, but Barbara was there. He stopped when he saw that she was holding a gun in her hand. Barbara raised the weapon and pointed it at him. He put his hands up.
“I know you ain’t gonna shoot me, Sexy.”
Even though they were all masked and were dressed alike, Barbara knew that he was the one that was feeling on her. She had taken in certain details about him. His shirt, his posture, and yeah … Barbara remembered the sound of his voice.
Me and you definitely gonna have some fun.
She would never forget that voice. Never forget his hands on her body. We gonna strip you naked and see that fuckin’ fine-ass body.
Barbara was scared, but her fear was mixed with her anger. The gun was shaking in her hand.
“You need to just hand me the gun,” he said moving toward Barbara slowly.
“Don’t come any closer!” Barbara shouted as she gripped the gun with both hands the way her father had taught her.
He smiled and inched closer with his hands up. “You ain’t gonna shoot me, Sexy,” he said and then he quickly reached for the gun.
Barbara closed her eyes and pulled the trigger. The shot hit him in the shoulder. With his eyes opened wide in disbelief, he looked at Barbara.
“You shot me,” he shouted and lunged forward to make another grab at the gun. Barbara fired and shot him twice in the chest. The impact of the close range blast took him off his feet and he hit the ground hard.
Barbara stepped up, looked down at him, and pulled the trigger again. Tahanee rushed up and took the gun from her hand. Damn, Barbara, Tahanee thought as she looked at the body.
“Come on. We need to get out of here.” She grabbed her hand. “Did you touch anything?” Tahanee asked and Barbara shook her head.
They left the warehouse, got in Ram’s car and drove away from there. As Tahanee drove, she began to explain the whole, I’m your bodyguard thing to Barbara. She sat there listening silently, staring straight ahead with a blank expression on her face.
“Are you alright, Barbara?” Tahanee asked, but she got no answer as Barbara just stared out the windshield.
She had just killed a man.
“Are you alright, Barbara?” Tahanee asked again.
Barbara nodded her head, still staring straight ahead with that blank expression on her face.
She’s in shock, Tahanee thought and it made her think about her first combat engagement. She remembered the night spent in her thoughts after she’d killed for the first time. But I was trained for it, prepared months for that moment. Barbara wasn’t prepared for this at all.
So Tahanee stopped talking.
Maybe it was that she was in shock, or maybe it was her new recognition and acceptance of the world that she was a part of after what happened at Nick’s wedding, but Barbara was all right. Even though Tahanee couldn’t tell it by looking at her, her mind was starting to slow down so she could think straight. A million things had been running through her mind at rapid speed. She looked at Tahanee and even though she wasn’t saying anything, Barbara was glad that Tahanee was her bodyguard and was there to protect her.
“Let me get you home,” Tahanee said as they drove, thinking that would be the safest place for her.
“No.” Barbara turned to Tahanee. “Take me to RJ.”
Chapter Twenty-three
He started with her thighs, prying them apart as he placed kisses against the flesh there and then he passed the space between her thighs that burned hot and flowed wet, before he kissed the softness of her belly. It quivered with her excitement, before he reached her lips and placed a kiss there as he cupped her breast in his hand; sucking on the nipple as she squirmed beneath him.
Her legs open wider as her back arched as if she was begging him to enter her hard. But he held off. So much had happened between them and many times he wondered if he’d ever be able to have her to himself. Where he could take his time and make love to her and that she could be with him for a while instead of heading back to her man. But now he was her man. Now he was the one she could spend the whole night with.
He was the one moving back down her body to address the part of her that was begging for him to touch it. He pulled her lips apart and attached his mouth to her wetness. Her moan only made him more eager to taste all of her. To insert his tongue and swirl it around her before pulling her clit into his mouth and sucking on it. She screamed before squirting on his face and onto the sheets.
Knowing she was more than ready and so was he, he was inside of her. Stretching her as her legs came up around his waist to pull him into her deeper. Hearing her cries, his name on her lips, her hands as they clutched his back, all of it was a gift. Knowing that she loved the pleasure he was giving, stroked his ego much in the way that he stroked her.
He flipped her over and positioned her hips so that her ass was in the air the way he liked it. She had the perfect arch for the way he liked to go at it. That was his thought as he slid into her from behind. He smacked her jiggling ass as he drilled into her. The clap of her skin against his thighs and her moans made him feel his orgasm cumming but before RJ could switch positions on her, his phone rang.
The ring tone wasn’t familiar to him, and since he no longer felt close to cumming, he decided to keep pounding away with everything he had. Digging deeper and deeper, and then it hit him.
“Tahanee.”
“What?” Venus questioned, about to go slam off because he said another woman’s name. RJ pushed off her and grabbed his phone.
“Tahanee?” RJ questioned with sweat dripping from his forehead because he was putting in real work on Venus. “What’s wrong?”
“Barbara is fine. She’s with me. There was an incident and Barbara wants to see you.
“Meet me at The Four Kings.” RJ ended the call and called Marvin on the way to the bathroom.
“What’s up?” Marvin asked. He was at the Hard Rock Cafe near Yankee Stadium having cocktails with Sataria.
“Meet me at the club.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know,” RJ said and turned on the shower. “Something happened to Barbara,” he said as Venus came in the bathroom.
“I’m on my way,” Marvin said. He quickly apologized to Sataria and left the restaurant with Kelsey.
RJ looked at Venus and got in the shower. She got in right behind him, because she had a question.
“Who is Tahanee?” she questioned with an attitude.
“She’s Barbara’s bodyguard,” RJ said, washing off as quickly as he could.
“Did something happen?” Venus asked from the back of the shower.
“She said there was an incident,” RJ said and got out of the shower and Venus quickly stepped under the shower head. “I’m meeting her at The Four Kings.”
“I’m coming with you,” Venus said, trying to wash off as quickly as possible. RJ stopped drying himself and looked at Venus.
“No.” He pointed at her. “You stay here,” RJ said and walked out of the bathroom. By the time Venus came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her, RJ was almost dressed. She sat down on the bed and flipped on the TV. It was tuned to her favorite station, The Food Network. When he finished getti
ng dressed, RJ kissed Venus on her lips.
“I’ll call you,” RJ said, and Venus watched him walk out of her bedroom, hoping that Tahanee really was Barbara’s bodyguard.
On the way to The Four Kings, Barbara’s mind was starting to clearer and now she needed Tahanee to explain a few things.
“Tahanee. … Is that really even your name?”
“Yes, Barbara, Tahanee is really my name.”
“What happened to Ram?”
“I killed him …” Tahanee snickered and she tapped the steering wheel, “and then I took his car.”
“And you’re my bodyguard.”
“Yes, Barbara. I was hired by your brother to protect you while you’re at school and when you’re out with your girls or on dates and stuff.”
When Barbara thought about it, she realized that she did see Tahanee a lot when she’d be out. I’d see her everywhere, Barbara thought, but like everything else, she didn’t think too much about it. To Barbara, Tahanee was cool; they kind of hung in the same circle, so it was no big deal. She gets arounds, she remembered thinking.
“So, do you tell RJ everything I do?” Barbara needed to know.
“No, Barbara, that’s not how it works. I don’t make a report to RJ about what you were doing,” Tahanee said and Barbara breathed a sigh of relief. “My job was just to keep you safe.”
“So, nobody knows about me and Ram?”
“No. The only report I make is to my supervisor, Jack Trevor, and all that is verbal confirmation that you’re safe,” Tahanee assured. “But since it involved shooting, I have to make a complete report to my supervisor and Mr. Black,” Tahanee told her as they arrived.
“Uncle Mike?” Barbara frowned. “Why you gotta tell Uncle Mike?”
“He’s the boss, isn’t he?”
“Shit. And the first person he’s gonna tell is Daddy.”
Despite what Bobby and RJ said, Barbara could tell that they were both mad at Tenikka for taking her out that day.
The day she introduced me to Ram. It wasn’t her fault, Barbara thought. In fact, when she saw Ram was on me, Tenikka hurried up and got me out of there.
“I saw the way you were lookin’ at Ram, and all I’m sayin’ is nothing good will ever come from fuckin’ with a nigga like that.”
“I know,” Barbara may have said, but she still went back there to see him in spite of the warning.
“Please don’t tell anybody Tenikka brought me over there,” Barbara pleaded. “She couldn’t have known that Ram would do something like this.”
Tahanee looked at Barbara and understood her need to protect her sister. She had heard stories about the people that she worked for and what they were capable of, so she promised Barbara that Tenikka’s involvement would remain their secret.
“Thank you, Tahanee.”
“You’re welcome.”
They quickly came up with a story to tell that didn’t mention Tenikka before they got out of the car.
When Barbara and Tahanee went in The Four Kings, RJ and Marvin were already there waiting for them. Barbara explained what happened and then told them who Ram was and how she got involved with him. While she was talking, Marvin leaned close to RJ.
“She’s too calm.”
“I know,” he said.
RJ had seen that look before. It was the same look that his mother used to have. It was as if there was nothing behind her eyes.
“I need to call Mr. Black,” Tahanee said when she and Barbara finished telling their story.
RJ’s eyes opened wide. “Why you gotta call Uncle Mike?” RJ questioned, and Barbara covered her mouth to laugh.
“’Cause he is the boss of this family,” Barbara said to her brother. RJ gave her a look, really, Barbara, but he knew that she was right.
“Go ahead,” RJ said and Tahanee walked away, taking out her phone. While Tahanee talked to Black, Barbara, RJ and Marvin looked on and waited.
“He wants to talk to you,” Tahanee said and handed Barbara the phone.
“Hi, Uncle Mike.”
“You okay?”
“I’m okay.”
“I’ll be by the house later to check on you; now put your brother on the phone.”
Barbara looked at RJ. “He wants to talk to you,” Barbara said and handed him the phone.
“Yes, Uncle Mike,” RJ began.
“As soon as you know, I need to know who this nigga is and who he’s down with. Understand?”
“Yes, Uncle Mike. Me and Money are about to get on that right now.”
“We’ll talk about that when I see you.”
“Yes, sir.”
“And RJ.”
“Yes, Uncle Mike.”
“You did good. I’m proud of you. Now go handle your business,” Black said and ended the call.
As promised, RJ and Marvin paid a visit to Ram’s spot, which was run by Trig, along with Azibo, Wolf and Dequain. RJ stepped in front of the door and kicked it in. Then he and Marvin entered the house shooting.
RJ saw Azibo standing in the hallway. He pointed his weapon and fired at RJ as he ran for the back door. RJ fired back and hit Azibo twice in the back.
Dequain was shooting at Marvin. He knelt down, fired twice and hit him with shots to his shoulder and chest. Dequain went down. Marvin kicked the gun away from Dequain and shot him in the head.
Trig was in the kitchen trying to gather up the drugs. He took a shot at RJ, and he dove for the floor. RJ rolled to better cover and returned fire. Trig fired at RJ again, and he returned fire. That shot grazed Trig’s head and he shot back at RJ. He fired again and hit Trig with two shots to his chest.
Marvin reloaded his weapon and saw Wolf run out of a room down the hallway. He fired, and Wolf fired back as he ran for the back door. Marvin chased him down the hall, stopped, fired and Wolf went down.
Chapter Twenty-four
“Wait a minute; what the fuck is you sayin’, Mike?” Bobby asked excitedly.
“Calm down, Bobby. Barbara is fine.”
“What happened?”
“Some guy she knew set her up.”
“Where is the mutha fucka?”
“We’ll talk about that when I see you.” Black knew that by then, RJ and Marvin should be on their way to deal with Ram’s crew. “Where are you?”
“I’m on my way to Wanda’s office.”
“I’ll meet you there,” Black said and ended the call. “Chuck, take us to Wanda’s office, please.”
“Yes, sir. And I’ll call Jake and tell him that we’re making a stop first,” Chuck said.
“Thank you.”
Black looked at Shy and was glad that he made the decision to send her back to the island. He had sent his mother back the morning after the wedding and he wanted Shy to go with her. She wanted to stay for Doc’s funeral, but now, in light of Barbara’s attempted kidnapping, Shy was on her way to the airport for Jake to take her back to Freeport.
And this time, she didn’t give him an argument about going as she usually did. She always wanted to be at his side through good and bad times, but not this time. This time, Shy thought about her children. Not just Michelle and Easy, but the baby she was carrying and knew that her place was out of harm’s way.
“He is not going to take this well,” Black said and relaxed in his seat for the drive to Wanda’s office.
“At least she’s safe,” Shy said.
“She had to kill one of them, Cassandra.”
“Oh my … that changes everything,” she said, and Black told her what he knew about the kidnapping attempt. “I can only imagine what she’s going through right now.”
Shy thought about the first time she had to kill somebody. She was a lot older than Barbara, but the major difference was that Shy had pulled her gun and shot at people plenty of times before she had to stand in front of somebody, look them in the eye, and pull the trigger.
It made her think about her own children. Michelle wasn’t that much younger than Barbara, and even though she was safe
r in the Bahamas, Shy knew from being kidnapped at their club while in Freeport, there was no safe place.
“Did you talk to her?”
“Yes.”
“How is she?”
“She seemed all right, but we didn’t talk about that.”
“If you didn’t talk about that, how do you know that she had to kill somebody?”
“Her bodyguard told me.”
“Barbara has a bodyguard?”
“One that saved her life today,” Black said.
“I’m glad Bobby hired her a bodyguard,” Shy smiled.
“No, RJ hired her, but I am too.”
“So, how do you know that Barbara had to kill somebody?”
“Tahanee, that’s her name, she works for our security company and there is a code that they use to give information to me over an open line.”
“I want to see her before I go,” Shy said.
“I thought you might,” he said and put his arm around her. “Chuck.”
“I’ll let Jake know that there’ll be a few stops along the way,” Chuck said.
“Thank you, Chuck,” Shy said and rested her head on Black’s shoulder and relaxed for the drive to Wanda’s office.
At the office, Wanda was having a meeting with somebody that at one time, she couldn’t have imagined sitting and talking to. But she was there for two reasons. One because she needed her help to accomplish her objective. The second was more important. Much more important. Wanda had sworn an oath to protect The Family, her family; with her life if necessary, so she had to know if she could trust her.
“I am buying a struggling bank in the Bahamas. However, I have reliable information that the bank's troubles are exaggerated, and its assets are unfairly undervalued,” Wanda said.
“If that’s the case, it makes sense to inject equity into the institution and ride out the downturn.”
“That was my thinking as well. Call it deep value investing,” Wanda laughed. “We are going to have to maintain at least ten percent of the bank's assets as capital reserves and limit our equity investment to less than twenty-five percent of voting shares and thirty-three percent of the total equity.”
