The Reign of Rain Robinson

“Yeah,” he laughed. “And to Rain, bombing her spots is drawing Rona out.”
“So she did exactly what you said,” Bobby added.
Carter sat quietly for a second or two, thinking whether he wanted to tell Black and Bobby the rest of it, but knowing it was an easy choice.
“After we bombed the spots, me her and Carla went to the Baccarat Hotel to kill her.”
“Is she dead?” Bobby asked.
“No. a little while after we got there, Kirk and Dawkins showed up, so we left and came back here. Bautista and Dickerson were her waiting when we got here.”
“I wonder what Kirk was doing there?” Bobby inquired.
“He’s working Doc’s murder.” Black paused. “That means he’s on to her too.”
“That’s what Rain thought,” Carter said.
“You gonna call him too?” Bobby asked.
“Not yet. I wanna wait until I heard from Tamia and Carla first.” Black got up and walked to the bar. “All we can do now is wait.”
Bobby laughed. “Back in the old Late Night days, we would have been waiting in the VIP room being entertained by four or five sexy mugs.”
Black chuckled. “Did I tell you that I saw Lo-Lo a couple of weeks ago?”
“No. how’s she doing?”
“She’s doing great. Her and Anya are still together, they adopted a couple of kids. Get this; Anya’s teaches third grade and Lo-Lo’s a dental assistant.”
“Didn’t see that coming,” Bobby laughed.
“Neither did I, Bob, neither did I.”
It was almost an hour later when lieutenant Adams called back with the information that Black had requested.
“What did you find out?”
“Rain is accused of killing a woman named Afra Dean ten years ago with Ronnie King. That’s all I could get right now, Mike. As soon as I hear anything else, I’ll give you a call.”
“Thank you, Tamia. In the meantime, I need you to get in touch with Jack Harmon and tell him to meet me at Cuisine tomorrow night at nine.”
