“Fuck, don't. I wouldn't want to break anything in your new lab by tearing your sexy body up when I visit you at work.”

Blade laughs. “Do you two need a minute?”

“Nah,” Dagger replies, eyeing me in a completely different way now. “I can wait.” He gets up to kiss me though, and I’m left in an almost drugged state when his soft lips leave mine. “Me and you will have our alone time.”

I smile up at him. “I’ll look forward to it.”

“Well, sorry to interrupt your moment,” Blade says as he gets up, “but the others are almost back.”

Dagger and I stand, too. “Yeah, I can feel them coming.”

Although our minds are always accessible to one another’s, we can only physically sense each other’s whereabouts at a distance of about five-ish miles. We can also sense zombies nearby, but they never stay local for long. The brothers told me that they’ve always acted submissive in their presence. I noticed the same on Monday. They most definitely know we're superior to them.

  Something else to look into.

I asked them to bring back a male and a female zombie. I need to know if there are any differences whatsoever, no matter how small.

“Let’s get some syringes set up, Dagger. Then we can take their blood before they’re locked in that cage.”

  Blade

It's been a week since the rats took up residence in my brother’s place, and a week since Mikka started showing. But she's showing a hell of a lot more now.

In human weeks, she's about sixteen, but she already looks thirty. She's fuller everywhere, and my dick is constantly hard for her.

  “Damn, you're beautiful, Mikka.”

I can feel her eyes on me while I rub her belly with her favourite caramel body butter. We’ve decided to take turns because it’s something we all look forward to doing. It’s our way of bonding with the babies.

She sighs in contentment. “You’re all making me feel it.”

I can smell my scent on her heightening as the days pass, and my blood firing through her veins. Mikka found out a few days ago that we have two boys and a girl on the way, and one of the boys is mine. The rest of us can tell, too, but there’s no doubt Mikka is feeling the babies strongest now.

She's clung to Thorn and me a little more over the past few days, but there's no hate from our other brothers. She still craves their touch, but Mikka won't let me or Thorn stray too far from her. When we’ve had babies being carried by other women, they’ve felt the same way, so it was to be expected.

I apply some more lotion but suddenly feel the minutest movement against my hand.

“Oh, my God,” she squeals, almost deafening me. “Did you feel that?”

I smile back at her, just as hard. “Yeah. I did.”

“Kings!” she shouts, and the rest of my brothers appear on the bed in no time.

Hands surround mine and the room falls silent as we wait.

  And wait.

  And wait.

Until we all feel it again.

“Damn. I’ve never felt movements like this so early,” Dagger says.

Mikka smiles up at us. “I told you I felt them the other day. It’s gotta be because there’s so many. They’re strong, too.”

“They have kings and a queen for parents,” Axe says, “how could they be anything else?”

“Exactly,” Mikka agrees. She looks to me, but I reassure her that I’m good.

I know she worries about me, but I can’t help but be concerned. Seeing your kids born alive and then dying almost immediately, repeatedly, isn’t just something you get over. The memories stay with you. I haven’t forgotten a single birth of my six children, and I know the others haven’t forgotten any of theirs either.

But Mikka holds something for us that we hadn’t had in a long time.

  Hope.

We all finish rubbing the last of the cream into her body while thinking about what we’ve just experienced. No one would think the babies didn’t belong to all of us. We’re all equally invested in the three of them.

  “All done, sweetness.”

“Thank you.” She gets up and we all sit back to give her some room.

Thorn retrieves a vest from her drawer for her, but when she pulls it on, it barely covers half her belly. Even the shorts she’s wearing are too tight over her hips and ass, and they fit her fine yesterday.

I pull off my own tee for her to wear instead. It not only fits her better—with some room to spare—but I also love seeing it on her.

“I think I should order some new clothes,” she says as she gets comfortable against the headboard. She thinks about Thorn having hold of her money, but before any of us can offer to get them for her, Dagger collects his wallet from the dresser and hands her his card.

“Get some crotchless panties while you're at it.” He smirks. “For you, not me.” He rubs her belly again before trailing his hand to her thigh. “And maybe some stockings.”

My dick jumps approvingly. “Yeah, white ones,” I add. I dap Dagger. “Good idea, bro.”

Pin and Thorn put in their own request, but Axe is already on Amazon adding shit to his basket in multiple sizes. I look over his shoulder and see a few toys, but then he glares at me and tells me to mind my business.

  I roll my eyes.

“Um, Thorn?” Mikka says. I hear her thoughts about the money again, but Dagger shuts that shit down straight away.

“We told you we'd take care of you, Princess. Besides, that shit is for us too.”

“I guess…” She’s still hesitant, but I can’t blame her. She’s used to being independent and taking care of herself.

“Oh, and don’t forget the nurse’s outfit.”

She smiles knowingly as the rest of us laugh. “I won’t. Thank you.”

“Now that, I’ve gotta watch,” Axe says. “I might see if there’s a Wonder Woman one.” He winks at Mikka, and she blushes.

“Just make sure you cater for the bump.”

  “I know, babe.”

I lean forward to kiss her head. “I’ll get a joint account set up so you can have your own card, alright?”

  She nods.

I get up and pass her phone to her. “Get shopping. I'm gonna make breakfast.”

“I’ll help,” Pin says, and Thorn gets up, too.

  “Okay,” she replies.

I pull on another tee before making my way down to Thorn and Pin in the kitchen. It feels good to be able to cook for Mikka. She’s taught me how to make a whole load of things, pancakes included, which is what I’m gonna make her today. With strawberries.

  Her favourite.

I gather the ingredients on the counter, but then I turn to Pin and Thorn sitting at the island, having a silent conversation. “What's going on?”

  Thorns jaw clenches. “Mikka.”

  I frown. “What about her?”

“She's working too hard,” Pin says.

I take a seat at the island with them. “I know. I've tried talking to her, too.”

Thorn sighs. “We all have, but she won't listen. I've even thought about taking that shit out of her lab so she can't work.”

  “I heard that.”

We turn our attention to Mikka as she sits down at the island with us. “And?” Thorn asks.

She straightens her back, preparing for a fight. “I need to—”

“No,” Axe says, arriving fresh out the shower. Dagger’s arrived too. “You need to sit your ass down and stop spending sixteen hours a day in that room.”

“But I haven't found anything out that I wanted to.”

Pin glares at her, and he’s probably the most easy-going out of all of us. “Tough shit. The babies will be here in three weeks. You can wait. We can wait. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen.”

“Exactly,” I agree. “You do need to stop, Mikka.”

She appears almost lost now. “But, it's what I do. It’s who I am. I need answers.”

  Thor
n gives her a look now. “I understand your need for them, but there aren’t any for this. We're all in the dark, and no matter how good your programme is at guessing, it only gives half the picture. Enjoy being pregnant. Stop stressing over the—”

“I can't! Don’t you get that? I need to know, even if it's just theories. I need to know how the three of us are going to be affected by—”

  “By what?” I ask.

She swallows. “The babies. I know you haven’t been paying too much attention, but I am onto something. Just give me a few more days. If I don't find out what I'm looking for in three more days, I promise I'll give it up.”

None of us are happy, but her desperation is evident. We haven’t wanted to start making demands, but she’s left us no choice. It’s our responsibility to take care of her and our young she’s growing.

“Three days, Mikka,” Thorn tells her. “Not one more. Then those rats are leaving this house one way or the other.” He looks at Dagger and Axe. “Help her.”

  Dagger nods. “You got it.”

Axe agrees. “We can both be your lab techs for the next few days.” He’s trying to lighten the mood, but I know Mikka isn’t happy about being told what to do.

  But tough.

“I have a few videos to edit, but after that, I’ll help, too,” Pin tells her.

“Thank you,” she finally says, barely masking back her frustration.

She sighs and closes her eyes for a moment. We all see how tired she looks, and she shouldn’t be. She’s been falling asleep at her desk, and with her being what we are, there’s no way she should be suffering any adverse effects through this pregnancy. None of the other women struggled, not even with morning sickness, so it must be the amount of time she’s stressing over her computer that’s causing this.

Unless her theory is right, and the babies are?

We eat mostly in silence, then Dagger, Axe, and Mikka leave us to get back to work. I know she wants proof of her theory, but it can wait.

“She's a stubborn pain in my ass,” Thorn mutters to himself.

‘I heard that too, Thorn,’ Mikka says in his mind.

  ‘Good!’ He fires back.

I shake my head. “Definitely gonna have your work cut out with her, bro.”

We've all come to learn that Mikka isn't any way affected by Thorn's leadership status like we are. Her inner strength and fiery nature is only growing in our presence, and as infuriating as she can be sometimes, we all love that about her.

We have to remember she’s only twenty, younger than all of us, and she’s still figuring out who she is. But I, for one, intend on making sure she feels comfortable to find herself. No matter how long it takes.

It’s the least we can do. Her coming into our lives has changed everything. I know we’ve all said the same thing, but it’s because it’s true. Life before Mikka was uncertain and frankly, dark, but even though we all still have our individual worries, life as a whole, is a million times better now she’s in it.

Her positive attitude and thirst for finding answers for us means the world. And the way she’s made an effort to actually get to know us and find out what makes us tick, is admirable. It wasn’t easy for some of us to accept that we’d fallen for the same woman, but it must have been even harder for her.

We only need to get to know one mind, whereas she has to figure out five. We’re all completely different and crave various things to make us happy, but so far, she’s taken it in her stride and has brought us closer than we’ve been in years.

  Especially to Thorn.

Watching him deal with the new dynamic has been funny as fuck, but it’s also made the rest of us step up in new ways. We’ve all been pushing our limits and using our own minds more than ever, working to get up to our big brother’s level of abilities.

Mikka was spot on with what she said to him when he opened up to her. We naturally fell into letting Thorn lead the way because he already was, but it’s right that he can’t be the one who carries all the weight. We’re in this together, more than anything now, which means we all need to play our part and put the work in.

“She’s craving your moody dick again, bro,” Pin says as he gets up to make another round of coffee. “I really need to figure out how to put two babies in her belly next time.”

Thorn glares at him. “I’m not moody, I’m concerned.”

  ‘Moody.’

I laugh at Mikka’s ability to multitask like a pro. “If you gave her what she wanted more often, rather than just watching us with her, maybe she’d be more submissive.”

He scoffs. “There’s only one thing Mikka’s capable of submitting to, and my demands aren’t it.”

My dick hardens at that thought. That’s true. As soon as one of us touch her, her body immediately submits. She’s learnt fast what each of us like, and she hasn’t said no to anything yet. Not even to Axe’s weird fetishes.

Thorn sighs again, and I feel his torment. “She needs to just test the theory she already has. Her sitting on that kind of information isn't helping anyone.”

Pin rests a mug of coffee in front of both of us. “I agree.”

And so do I. “I think she needs to just test it out on one of us.”

Thorn nods. “She wants to, but because she can’t be certain of what will happen, she hasn’t. You’ve all felt how she’s changed. Of course I wanna know what’s going on, but not at the expense of her health.”

“Right,” Pin agrees. “I’ve told her, she either needs to hurry up or leave it alone until she’s not so tired.”

“I can hear you!” she shouts.

  We all shake our heads.

“Let me take her a coffee,” Pin chuckles. “It might cheer her up.”

“Don’t forget the extra sugar,” Thorn reminds him.

I smirk. Typical Thorn, always looking out for us, no matter how moody he gets.

“I’m not fucking moody,” he barks.

  “Sure.”

  Mikka

  A few days later…

Growing three babies is no joke. I have to pee all the time, I’m eating for Wales, there's a constant rave going on inside my belly, and exhaustion is kicking my ass. And not only that, I’m stressed.

I’ve still not heard from Gia, but today is the day I’ve finally decided to call my mum.

I’m terrified of what she’s gonna say. Yesterday, she was on the news with my brother. They we’re being chased down the street by the press asking questions about me, and there was no mistaking the pain I saw in their eyes when they said they hadn’t heard from me.

  I felt so guilty.

I need to at least let her know I’m alive and okay, and if she does decide to disown me, I’ll have to accept it and move on. Carrying this weight like a dead body on my shoulders is just something I can’t do anymore.

Pin, Dagger, and Axe each give me a kiss on the forehead before they leave me in the lab alone. They know this is a big deal for me, they all do. We spoke about it at length yesterday, and they encouraged me to get it over and done with.

I tap call on her number, having withheld my own. I’m hoping she answers, because—

“Hello?” She sounds pissed off, but I wonder if that’s because she’s been getting harassed on her mobile, too.

  “Mum?”

  “Mikka?”

  “Yeah, Mum. It’s me.”

“Oh, Mikka! How could you…” She bursts into tears. “I’m so bloody mad with you. I’ve been worried sick for weeks!”

“I’m sorry, Mum. Please don’t cry.” Tears pool in my own eyes. “I didn’t mean to worry you. I was just… I was terrified of what you’d say.”

She sniffs a few times, but it takes her a minute to be able to speak. “Why? Because of you being one of them now?”

“Well, yeah… You left home because of them. I know you hate them, and when we spoke last, your opinion hadn’t changed.”

“So you are what they say you are? You’re part zomb
ie now?”

I take a deep breath. “Yeah.”

She starts crying again, and the little hope I had that she’d accept me, disappears.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t plan it. I can’t explain it, Mum. It was something I had to do. I know you won’t understand, but I’m still the same Mikka. I’m still me.” I struggle to keep my tears reined in when I say that. “Please don’t hate me.”

“Hate?” She chokes on her cries. “You silly girl! You’re my daughter! How could you think I’d ever hate you? I might not be happy about this, but I’d rather you be alive and a bloody alien than dead! I’ve been going out of my mind with worry. So has Vincent.”

“I… So you aren’t going to disown me?”

“Of course I’m not! A mother’s love is unconditional, darling. There is nothing you or Vincent could do to ever make me turn my back on either of you.”

The tears rush out of me now. “You have no idea what it means to hear you say that, Mum,” I croak out. I’m ugly crying, but I feel so relieved.

“Oh, darling, I hate that you’ve been feeling like this. I hate all of this. If you’d come with us, none of this would be happening right now.”

My stomach twists. She’s right… If I’d gone with them, the brothers would never have found me. That doesn’t sit well at all. “It’s okay, Mum. It’s not as bad as the news is making out. We only attacked those people in Cambridge because they we’re trying to capture us.”

“The police over here keep turning up at the house, Mikka, asking me where you are. They could even be listening to this call.”

“Don’t worry. They can’t track this phone.”

“Oh, thank God. I know you can’t tell me where you are, but are you at least safe?”

“I’m more than safe. Everything is just fine. Don’t worry about me. I’m not being hurt, and no one can find us.”

  “Us?”

“Yeah. I can’t go into details, just in case, but I’m with them.”

  “Mikka—”

“I know you have questions, but until I can find a secure way to speak to you, I can’t answer them. But I’ll try my best to find a way.”
