  For just a moment I felt every muscle in my body tense and even now I’m not sure what would’ve come next. But my dad put his hand on my shoulder, shook it a bit and said, “Cole, come on inside and get a cup of coffee. You need to hear what’s been going on here for the last week.” He was obviously excited, which made the moment even more surreal in light of the ugliness oozing out the church doorway, so I just kept my mouth shut and followed the family parade into the house. The ogre and her shadow didn’t join us.
