Spring Tides at Swallowtail Bay: The perfect laugh out loud escapist romantic comedy for summer! (Swallowtail Bay, Book 1)

by Katie Ginger

Down on the beach, the tide rolled in and screams and yelps carried on the breeze from Ralph and Taylor who were running along with Frank, chasing the seagulls and arguing over who got to hold his lead. Lexi was still working in the café and doing some cleaning in the holiday lets while she tried to get her vintage clothing business off the ground. She, Stella and Miles had been working on a business plan and it wouldn’t be long, Stella was sure, before Vintage Designs would be taking Swallowtail Bay by storm.

‘Hang on, kids,’ Lexi called, and Ralph and Taylor came back up to the promenade to where Lexi and Will had stopped. When Stella and Miles caught up with them, they all took a moment to admire the commemorative bench and the beautiful silver-plated inscription. As soon as Vivien’s money had come through, Lexi had arranged for the bench to be installed and had worked with Miles on what the plaque should say. Every time Stella read it a smile came to her face. It summed up the old woman so wonderfully and contained all her joy and love of life. Below her name and the dates of her birth and death, it simply read:

‘He was madly in love with me, you know.’

Will wrapped an arm around Lexi’s shoulders and they carried on towards the pub. Ralph and Taylor sped back down towards the sea with Frank beside them and Stella took a huge breath in as she snuggled into Miles. Swallowtail Bay was well and truly her new home and as a great ray of light shone out from behind a passing cloud, it seemed Vivien was smiling down on them all yet again.

I’m so thrilled to be launching this wonderful series with HQ Digital who are, without doubt, the most insanely talented bunch of people you’ll ever come across. I really can’t thank them enough for all the hard work they put in on my behalf, helping me make my dreams come true. It’s such a pleasure working with you all, especially the lovely Abi Fenton who always helps in figuring out the bits that aren’t quite working and most importantly, gives me the courage to fix them! I’d also like to thank one of the sweetest people, ever, Vikki Moynes, who has now moved to another publisher but was instrumental in the first round of edits for this story.

It’s also time for a huge shouty thank you to all the amazing readers and book bloggers who have been so kind as to read my books. There really is nothing better than reading a review and knowing that someone enjoyed your story. It makes all the self-doubt and days spent thinking I’m the worst writer in the world all worthwhile!

And finally, I really need to thank my family for constantly supporting me. My kids put up with me writing away in the corner during school holidays, and my husband, parents, and in-laws are always there with words of encouragement when it’s not going well. I love you all millions!

  Hi, lovely readers!

Can you believe we’re here at the exciting launch of this new series: Swallowtail Bay? How did you find your first visit? I really hope you enjoyed it. The second book in this series, Summer Strawberries at Swallowtail Bay, is out in June, so I hope you’ll come back and meet some new residents and see what they’re up to.

In the meantime, it would be lovely to connect on social media if, like me, you prefer procrastinating instead of doing actual work. My website’s: www.keginger.com; or I’m on Facebook at: www.Facebook.com/KatieGAuthor. And I’m still wasting far too much time on Twitter too where I’m @KatieGAuthor.

See you again soon and happy reading!

  Best wishes,

  Katie
