The Godsend Backfire: The Beginning

“I could have gotten that ready myself,” I said and tried not to sound rude.

“It’s just the way it is,” Yura said and smiled.

  “Thank you!”

Her eyes sparkled a little bit when I said that, then I walked down to where the bath was at. The room was steamy, a fire was roaring under the big stone basin. There was a set of clothes and a three-foot long, rectangle cut, piece of fur next to the clothes. The fur was beige in color and short-haired instead of fluffy. I walked around to the steps of the basin, took off my clothes for the first time in a long time and stepped in. The warmth was immense and relaxing. The basin was deeper than I expected, I was leaned up against the edge and water was up to my chest. I let my legs and feet float to the surface. I shut my eyes, I relaxed and in deep thought, when I felt something soft on my chest. Naturally, I jumped and grabbed whatever was touching me. I looked up and Yura was leaning over me, a concerned look on her face. She had a washrag of sorts and I think, was attempting to wash me.

“I’m sorry, is it custom for the females to wash the males?” I asked.

“No, it was more of a want, than a custom,” Yura said, catching me off guard.

I released my grip on her hand and she slowly dipped the cloth into the water and began washing my chest and shoulders. She pressed on the nape of my neck with one hand and tilted my head back with the other. My head rested on the edge of the basin as she carefully poured the hot water into my hair. She then used some of the soap to wash my hair. It was one of the best feelings I had felt in a long time. She used her nails to gently scratch my scalp and scrub. Once again, I shut my eyes and started to relax. After she washed my hair, she started washing my chest again, then she moved down to my ribs. She rubbed back and forth above where Lucifer’s horn was at.

  “That feels different?”

“Remember when I told you I killed Lilith?”

  “Yes I do.”

  “That’s Lucifer’s horn, that’s what I killed Lilith with.”

Her hand slightly moved away from it and moved down. She washed my stomach and then grazed my groin, I tensed up as she brought the washcloth back up. I didn’t realize it, but her breasts were resting on my shoulders. Yura picked up on my distress.

“Calm down dear, I’m just washing you off, that’s all. I know you don’t like me that way, I’m not Kallik,” she said, and I could hear the disappointment in her voice.

Her scent filled my nose again, it was calming, “I never said I didn’t like you,” I tried to reassure her.

She rested her chin between my right shoulder and neck, then quickly kissed my neck, “You never said you did like me either,” she said then tossed the washcloth on my face. I pulled it off and she was standing at the door way, looking back with a raised eye-brow and half a smile. Then she left and I was left to finish washing myself

The short-haired fur, acted as towel, it beaded the water off instead of absorbing it. The clothes that were set out, were a little big, so they had to have belonged to Mylicious. They were the typical, beige color, made of the hide of some animal. There was different colored, bone beads that acted as buttons on the chest. The top button was black, the middle blue, and the bottom red. The shirt felt clingy at first, but I got used to it quick. The only thing I didn’t have was a pair of moccasins, I wore my old sandals.

I walked out of the tunnel to meet a tasteful glance from Yura and smile from my brother, “You look like one of the pack,” Mylicious said.

“I wish he was,” Yura mumbled, but I heard her all too well.

That comment didn’t sit well Kallik, who looked wore out, but wasn’t too tired to give me another hateful look. I just smiled at him and he stormed off. Mylicious smiled as Mila gave him a playful smack on the shoulder. Tarkik laughed and looked at me.

“He just doesn’t like you for some reason, I, on the other hand, think you’re a good person,” he said, his skinny face, lit up with a smile.

“Thank you, same goes for you,” I said and walked out into the main room. It was then, I noticed Mila staring at my feet.

“You’re right, he needs moccasins, those won’t last long here. Come here and have a seat,” she said and guided me over to seat by the fire. She took a piece of rope and measured my foot from the heal to the toe. Then measured around my foot, “You’ll have a pair by tomorrow morning.”

“You don’t have to, I’m fine with what I got,” I said and wiggled my toes.

“No family member of mine is going to be walking around with their toes sticking out,” Mila said, she got up and disappeared down the center tunnel.

“She will stay up all night working on those,” Tapeesa said and it was then I caught her scent, it wasn’t so floral as Mila’s and Yura’s, but pleasant, nonetheless. It was then I caught Tarkik giving me an odd look.

He walked up to me and put his arm on my arm and pulled me close, “Please don’t take her from me.”

“What? I’m not here to take anyone,” I said.

“You caught her scent though, I could tell by the way you crinkled your nose,” he said concerned.

“Trust me, I have no intentions of taking anyone, away from anything,” I said, and I could see a look of relief on his face. The moon made the wolves very moody. The men were over protective, and the women were too nice.

Mylicious walked up to me next, “Now tomorrow night might get a little strange for you. I will show you in the morning where I work at. I will give you detailed list on what to do. You can partake in the activities if you like, my children won’t be attending and usually Yura, since she has no interest in Kallik, keeps an eye on them. Once the transformations take place it might a little uncomfortable for you. Yura will transform as well, but my kids will not. As I’ve learned, born werewolves don’t transform until later in life. Now they will get feisty and crave the blood, but other than that, they’re just normal wolfen children.”

“I don’t think there is anything normal about wolfen children,” I said and laughed a little, probably not the best comment to make.

“You are right, there,” he chuckled, “I’m off to bed brother, I have Jorgie berries to smash up in the morning for my drink.”

“I can’t believe you drink that stuff and enjoy it.”

  “It’ll grow on you!”

“I doubt that,” I said, not ever wishing to drink that stuff again.

With Mylicious off to bed and most of the pack as well, it left me with Kallik, Yura and Amaruq. They were messing around by the fire, cleaning out the pan-like stones used for the fish. Yura stayed away from Kallik but he always moved closer to her and she would move further away. I think finally, he had enough.

“Why won’t you mate with me? You walk around here spreading your scent around,” he spoke loudly, tossing his hands up in the air, “for who though, if not me? That thing?” he said and pointed to me.

“I’ve told you more than enough times, I’m not interested in you, you’re not one to settle down. You’re always off to the main land and you seem to have no issues mating with wolves from other packs,” Yura said, keeping her voice down.

“Why would I want to settle down? Mylicious should have stuck with the pack and not had a family as well,” Kallik said, I sensed a lot of jealousy.

“The pack is the family, he simply just added to it. Do you think he loves you any less because he has childeren?” Yura’s eyes squinted a little.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kallik raised his voice a little. Amaruq looked scared, then scurried down the center tunnel.

“I’m sure I do, you let your emotions show way too easily. I have no time in my life for an angry, soft, little boy like you in my life,” Yura got up in his face and a look of fear came to his eyes, “and if you don’t leave me alone about it, I will let Mylicious know you’re bothering me again and out you go!” she said with a little growl. I was impressed.

Kallik stormed off and Yura turned around, she looked at me, then wa
lked over and sat down next to the fire, she patted the empty spot next to her. I didn’t want to sit next to her, but I didn’t want to offend her, so I made my way over and sat down. She leaned her head up against my shoulder, her scent filling my nose. She put her beige hand on my, pale, marble hand.

  “Thank you!”

  “For?”

“Being here, if you weren’t, something bad could have happened.”

“I think you handled it fine yourself,” I said, then something sparked in us, but I immediately pulled away and looked at her, she looked upset, I could feel her heart racing.

With a quick movement, she threw her legs over me, then dug her nails into my shoulders and forced me back in my seat. She was strong, I liked it, but I wasn’t there for that. I tried to get up and she forced me back down again, her eyes raged purple as her breathing took on more of a growl. She dug in harder with her nails. I winced in pleasurable pain, as she broke through my shirt and skin. She kissed me again, with much more force this time and this time I kissed her back.

Then, I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and looked. Mylicious was leaning up against the wall, naked, a big grin on his face. Yura’s eyes caught Mylicious as well, she had a scared look on her face and then took off past Mylicious, who started laughing. Then he walked over to me and sat down.

“It appears she likes you, which is odd, Yura doesn’t like any men around here, I was starting to think she wasn’t into men.”

“Ahhh, Lilith’s free love exists even over here,” I said.

“It’s nature brother, I’m sure over time it will be more accepted, but people have such and issue with it now. You’re going to hurt her when you leave you know?”

“It’s not my fault she likes me,” I said, not wanting to think about Yura.

“I think it is, you have a charm about you, Jehovah took to you, Lucifer took to you, even that demon Lilith took to you and now Yura. This saddens me because I was hoping she would have found someone, and she found you and you don’t want to stay here.”

“I’m sorry brother!” I said, feeling like a total piece of shit.

He patted my leg and got up, “So am I brother, so am I.”

I was left alone for the rest of the night. At one point, I swear I heard sobbing coming from the middle tunnel. I wanted to get up and go console Yura, but I didn’t want to give the wrong message. I didn’t know what was wrong with me, why I was afraid to love? I thought about how Lilith, still after all these years, had me messed up. I was afraid that night, that Lilith was going to be my only ever sexual experience and that was out of forcefulness and hate.

I kept the fire up for them, leaving at one point to get more wood. The Northern Lights were out and about, the moon almost full, the stars brighter than I have ever seen them before and all I could think about was heading back to the cliff where Mylicious found me. I felt miserable and, on my way back down with the wood, I slipped and fell. The wood I was carrying landed on my face and I slid down the rest of the steps. I laid there for a good thirty-minutes before even attempting to move. I finally, got up and picked up the wood. I was glad no one was around to see it; my pride was destroyed.

It didn’t seem like that much longer that the den, so to speak, started to stir. Amka, Mila and Amaruq were the first ones up. They cooked up some meat, for the rest of the pack, offering me some, which I declined. The rest of the pack, minus Yura, came out. They seemed different, they had a different look in their eyes, they were glassy, almost if high on a drug, except for Amka and Amaruq, they just had smiles on their faces as they helped.

Mylicious had a large grin on his face, larger than with his human face, almost as if just his mouth had taken on the transformation. He would stare at Mila and sometimes at Tapeesa, but the stare he gave Mila was the same stare I’d seen on the faces back in Gomorrah, on the bright side, he wasn’t looking at me.

They are more like beasts as usual, nastily slopping the food around in their mouths. They made slurping noises, I was disgusted by the actions, but they were, in fact, beasts after all.

I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and when I looked over, Yura sat down beside me, her scent stronger than ever. I looked over at her for a second and when I looked back at the rest of the pack, Kallik was glaring at us. Then, Yura leaned over, put her head on my shoulder, glared back at Kallik, then suddenly, grabbed my crotch.

“What are doing?” I asked as she laughed. Kallik got up from his eating area and stormed off.

“It’s so enjoyable making him mad. He’s even more upset because no one from the mainland will come back to mate with him this time,” she explained, keeping her hand on my crotch. She finally realized it and removed it, but kept her head on my shoulder.

“Well I don’t want to make anyone mad at me, I just want to get this boat made and get back to where I’m from,” I said, thinking about approaching Mylicious about the plans on the boat making.

“What’s so special about your land, what’s wrong with staying here?”

“More color, everything here is plain, white, not soothing to the eye. I don’t have to travel to see a whole new land.”

“That sounds nice,” Yura sighed, “Maybe I will come with you.”

“That will be up to you and Mylicious to decide.”

“It’s not Mylicious’s decision if I leave or not,” she said sharply, “I can leave whenever I want.”

She got up and stormed off just like Kallik. I didn’t know if I could deal with the moods around there, so I got up and approached Mylicious, “Can you tell me how to start making the boat, so I can get started,” I said rather rudely.

His grin disappeared and he nodded, then got up, “Follow me,” he said, and I did. I was led down the down, the mysterious, center tunnel. It was longer than any other, with multiple rooms, with doors made of wood, with the hinges anchored in ice.

The tunnel came to a split and we took a right. We walked down two more rooms and he opened the door. All the wood from the night before was in there. There were tools all over, saws of sorts, chisels, a weird tool with two handles and a blade between them.

“The wood needs split in half, do your best to make sure it’s equal. I will show you how to do one, take your time, and don’t use your quickness to hurry,” he instructed. He then grabbed a small hatchet, with a large, flat head to it and large mallet. He put the blade of the hatchet in the center of the log and started tapping it with the mallet. The wood started to crack and splinter in the middle. He got so about three-fourths of the way through and moved down, he repeated this process until he was done with the log.

“Once you’re done this, you come to this room,” he said and went into another room, in which I followed him. The room was large, with posts set up. There was a front and back center post with two post on each side, it almost looked like a cat’s eye. “You will have to build a fire over there and put ice in the cauldron. You bring all the wood in here and let it sit overnight. In the morning, you can shape it on the post using a method that I will show you tomorrow. You will have to keep coming back tonight to add ice to the cauldron, it’s crucial, we want the wood to bend, not break, you understand?”

“Might be too hard for me to do,” I said with sarcasm in my voice.

Mylicious just stared at me, “Then after tomorrow, will head back to your land, seeming that you’re still not going to help me with Derium.”

“I’ve told you where his head is at, all you have to do is find it.” I said, not really wanting to hear the Derium shit again.

Mylicious said nothing and walked out, I then started to tend to the log pile. I took his advice and worked slow, maybe too slow, but I didn’t want to mess up the wood because I wanted to get out of there. I gently tapped the flattened part of the hatchet with the mallet and, slowly the wood started to split. Now keep in mind, these were long logs, basically the whole tree, everything we cut down from the day before.

After a few hours of work, my ha
nds were covered in sap, so I stopped and went in the main room where there was hot water going in the cauldron already. I dipped my hands into it, it was hot, but it was needed to get the sap off, even though I had more work to do.

The place was empty, I heard nothing from within, even Kallik and Yura were gone. So, I went back to work and it took a few more hours to finish the rest of the wood pile and I got twice as much sap on me. I decided to start a fire in two cauldrons, one in the room where the wood was going and one in the bathroom. By the time I got them both going, got the wood moved into the next room and had water hot enough to wash off with, I heard howling coming from outside. The moon was shining through the hole in the ceiling over the fire again.

Amka and Amaruq came running by, giggling and laughing, oddly brought a smile to my face, even though I didn’t like the brats. Then came Yura, she was half-changed, walked upright, down the steps. She looked at me with her purple eyes, her breasts were visible and covered in hair and she had two extra sets. I heard some popping as she shifted her weight and dropped to all fours. She finished transforming in front of me as Amka and Amaruq acted like nothing was out of the ordinary.

She turned her attention away from me and I turned my attention to getting a bath going. I ran out, not paying much attention to howling and the odd noises behind me to get two chunks of ice. I ran back down and put one in the basin in the bathing room, then the smaller piece in the cauldron. By the time I got back to the bathing room, it was nice and steamy, and the water probably would have burned the skin off a lesser being, but it felt good to me. I lathered up, getting the rest of the sap off me. I then leaned back, this time I let my head go under the water and laid there, with my eyes open, blinking here and there.

I thought back to my days of Noemi, thought back to the day I died and to the day she died. I don’t know how long I was under, but a shadow casting off the wall caught my attention and I raised my eyes slightly above water to look around. I saw Yura in wolf form, walking around the tub.
