"Oh suck."
He rolled over, the sheet slipping around his hips and she instantly felt a hungry ache pulsing between her legs.
"Now, that I would be very willing to do. Bring that gorgeous body back over here. Still want me out?" He stretched his arms out, the sheet tenting from the apparent rise and shine of his other very large asset.
Frantically she looked around the room. Gran wasn't there, thank goodness. Dead or not, she might have a second heart-attack if she saw all that Kian had to offer. Plus, just ew. She did not need to share him or her sex life with Gran.
"Sorry. No. I wasn't telling you to go." His sleep tousled hair and the sleepy daze still in his eyes made it hard to remember what she'd just been talking about.
"Uh huh. Okay. You talk to yourself often?"
She shivered at the sound of his voice, gravelly from sleep.
"Get over here. You're shivering woman. I'll warm you up." He winked and the inner walls of her core contracted.
"Yes."
She took her time, admiring him as she walked back to bed. His hand snaked up her inner thigh, stopping as she crawled in next to him.
"If I go an inch higher can I stay?" he asked under half lidded eyes.
Her next breath caught. She bit her lower lip.
"You like that?" he asked.
"Mm hmm."
Kian propped himself up on one elbow started a trail, running his tongue along her stomach pausing to greet a nipple as he continued north. Her nerves were on fire and even the smallest attention had her nearly crumbling in anticipation.
"So eager. I like that."
She knelt next to him on the bed, bracing herself with one hand against his shoulder. His muscles rippled with each movement.
Finally he stretched up, moving and adjusting to sit on his haunches.
His arm held her tight, keeping her with him. Safe. With each kiss, he felt like home. She deepened the kiss, wanting to pull him in closer. His hand tangled in her hair as his kissing grew hungry. At each touch of Kian's lips, sparks of energy tried to start a fire within her, a vibrating need pulsed between her legs and a desperation within her pulled her closer to him. Each taste of his lips had a need biting at her soul stronger and stronger.
She needed him, she needed to be his.
"Please." She whimpered against his lips. His hand found its way between her legs and she pressed against his warm palm.
"So hungry." He whispered against her lips. Brushing her jaw line as he kissed down her neck, he moved so painfully slowly that it made her squirm. She wanted to smack him for the silent torture, except her brain started to misfire with the slightest change in pressure.
"Tell me what I want to hear and I'll do as you ask," he whispered.
Her words hiccupped in her throat as he stroked her. She knew what he wanted; she could hear his thoughts over and over. "Mine. Mine. Raine is ours."
She couldn't, wouldn't stop to think of how she thought she could hear him. She just knew what he wanted to hear.
"Yes. Yours,” she said.
Drawing in a breath the words on her tongue nearly started a chant with each stroke. "I'm yours. Yes."
"Mine." He growled out the word. "You're mine."
With an almost inhuman motion he turned her around, her ass against him as he kissed her shoulder and his hands kneaded at her breasts. She closed her eyes at the myriad sensations. His fingers stroked her, bringing her closer and closer. As she thought she would splinter into a million pieces of herself he guided her forward. She put shaking arms in front of her as he grabbed her waist and before she could catch her breath he thrust into her. The burning sweet pain of being stretched over and over had her body shaking. She sucked at her lower lip biting back screams of pleasure as he thrust again and again, almost primitive in nature.
God she needed him. His hips pushed against her, his dick deeper, until the world around her was static. With each thrust reality fell away.
Oh she was his. Every time his dick pulsed within her, stroking a spot only he seemed to know, she was his.
"I'm yours," she whispered to the air as she closed her eyes.
Raising her hips she met him thrust for thrust.
There was no turning back.
The scent of him, rustic woodsy invaded her senses as he pleasured her body. Her heart beat thrummed through her ears as she came closer and closer.
"Don't stop."
He grabbed her hair, his lips suddenly by her ear.
"Come for me."
Turning her head to the side, he kissed her before he pulled back, his hands back on her hands controlling her. He was taking her to the edge where she didn't know if she would survive the fall - her body started to quake pulling from him everything she needed. This was the point of no return.
He rolled over, holding her as their breathing slowly returned to normal. His dick still in her had her nearly jump at each movement, her body sensitive and sated.
"Wow," was all he said.
She nodded against his chest. "Mmmm. Yeah."
Closing her hand over the arm he wrapped around she wanted to stay there always.
"You are perfect," he said.
"Right now I am not even going to argue. Just shut up before you screw this up."
His chest vibrated with laughter. "What were you saying about your dead Gran? I think that had more potential of rui-"
"Oh my God. She better have disappeared.” Jerking up, Raine rolled to the side and looked around.
"Relax princess. I don't think your Gran would have stayed for that little show. Although had she, I am pretty sure she'd be impressed."
Leaning over, Kian kissed her, freezing her errant thoughts in their tracks.
He was right. Who cared. Gran was a grown woman. Granted Raine knew her Gran would never do that to her. Instead Raine tried to lose herself with each caress of his lips.
Right as she was about to push aside every worry she had, Kian's phone chirped.
"Shit. Hold on. I have to make sure it's not the station."
She gave a half hearted smile. "Sure. I didn't even think to ask if you worked today."
He slid off the bed and turned in a circle.
"Do you see my pants?" He lifted his shirt and tossed it aside and then rose, holding up her panties by one finger. He flashed her a devious grin before flinging them at her.
She should have probably paid attention to his missing pants before the ringing stopped, but she couldn't stop watching the muscles along his back ripple and bulge with each move.
"Ah found them." Shuffling through a pocket he pulled the trilling device out. It had stopped ringing, but a chirp followed shortly after. Riane wanted to ask what the face he made meant a second before he clicked a button holding to his ear.
The grin of a second ago faded and the fire in eyes dimmed.
"Who was it? Is everything okay?" she asked.
Sitting up, she leaned forward with a sheet clutched to her chest.
"I." He ran his free hand through his hair as he dropped the hand with his phone to his side
"You what?" Dropping the sheet, she moved to her hands and knees and crawled to the end of the bed. "You can tell me. I promise."
He shook his head and for a moment she didn't think he was going to talk to her.
"It's my dad. Or well the call was from my mother. She took my dad back. She doesn't talk to me for years and now all this. She calls to tell me that she's back with a man that enjoyed abusing his family."
"I'm sorry." She wanted to stop the pain etched across his face.
"No. It's fine. I guess I always knew she'd take him back."
Absently he came over to the bed, sitting on the edge. "I." Raine's eyes watched as he flexed his hands.
Instinct drove her to comfort him. Placing her hand on his shoulder she felt his muscle taut and rigid. As if she could feel what he needed, like his cougar could talk to her, she straddled him, taking his face between her hands.
As he turned to look at her, his eyes were all animal.
"Are you going to be okay?" she asked.
"I. Yes. I just need to go. I need to go run or punch something."
His muscles were strained, the veins lining his forearms standing out.
"Let me help you." As she studied him, she saw the predator within the man. She could see the animal. The hunter. Instead of turning away she started to kiss his shoulder. She didn't know why, but she wouldn't back down from a fight. And somehow his fight was her fight.
His skin was hot to the touch as her fingers stroked down his shoulder blades and along his spine.
He sat there. Not moving. She didn't stop.
"Kian, you need to let me in."
She placed a kiss on his cheek. A kiss on his nose. A kiss on his forehead.
She held him. Somewhere she'd read that pressure can help people deal with anger.
Finally, after what felt like forever he finally moved.
Without warning he flipped them over and she was suddenly under him.
His lips were on hers before she could let out a squeak.
As he pulled away for moment, she started to question what she offered him.
"You don't want to be a part of this mess."
She didn't what he meant, but if it was Kian, then she wanted it. She wanted him. She wanted to make everything better.
"Kian, I'm yours no matter what."
His body nearly vibrated with power.
The pain within him clouded the air around them, thick and heavy.
"What do you need from Kian? Take it," she whispered.
He paused long enough for her to take it back. When she didn't he responded with a touch rougher than she'd expected, but one that commanded her to do as he needed.
The next time he looked up at her there was no human lust present, rather she saw the animal need within him.
She could feel the tip of him rubbing along her entrance. He was so close. And she wanted him.
"Yes," was all she whispered as if giving the shifter side of him permission.
He claimed her mouth as he thrust inside her. Her body convulsing in pleasure before he'd started. He was hungry. Everything about this was primal need. His thirst ran deeper and each thrust pulsed with more and more purpose.
Her body coiled, winding tighter and tighter as if each time he pushed into her she took some his pain until she could no longer take it.
Just as she thought she would break, he shuddered within her and with her and for one single moment it was as though she could feel his agony, his fear, his heart.
Her soul was his.
Kian sat on the couch, her legs draped over his lap. As long as he could touch her, his body seemed to work normally. She was the air in the room around him. He watched her lips as she picked a grape from the bowl, he watched her suck at it.
Fuck. This woman had a direct line to his dick.
A movie was playing in the background, who the hell knew what movie it was. Kian needed to not think of his mom. He needed to not think of his asshole father. The only time he seemed to distract himself though was when he was with Raine.
Demons pushed their way into his mind though. The years that his mother hadn't talked to him she'd been safe and he'd had his anger to displace any feelings of hurt. Now though, the muscle memory of fear was trying to come back. He'd thought that part of him was dead, but knowing she'd taken his father back at the fear trying to bubble back up.
The damn was cracking as the frustration started to build. It stayed there though, splashing around behind the wall and seemed to sit just below the surface finally not in control of him. He could breathe.
As he sat there, he forgot all about the movie. Somehow Raine quieted the rage within him. A strange change really, normally he'd have been at the gym ripping a heavy bag to shreds or finding some underground fight. There was never a lack of angry or violent paranormals within the city. Not today though. No. All he apparently needed was her. Her and that amazing body of hers. He shifted as the bulge in his jeans grew uncomfortable. God he needed to mark her. He needed to make her his.
"Raine?"
"Hmmm?" she murmured as she popped another grape in between her beautiful pink lips.
"How long will it take you to figure out that you're made for me?"
She rolled her eyes. "I don't really believe in love at first sight. Maybe you should consider taking me on a date though."
He caught the touch of a smile playing on her lips.
His brow furrowed."What was coffee? How many dates does a human need to figure out who their mate it?"
She stopped what she was doing and looked over at him. "You do realize some humans go an entire lifetime without figuring it out, right?"
Disgruntled he let out a grunt. "I don't have forever. I am going to go insane long before-"
Raine's phone rang. She put the bowl and looked at the screen.
Kian could smell the change on Raine as a sour scent wafted to him - fear. He knew fear. Any predator knew the scent. Only why was she afraid?
"Well. Let me get this." Her shoulders slouched as she let out a breath.
He nodded. He already missed the weight of her legs on him as she pulled herself to a full sitting position.
"Hello?"
Kian's hand found her thigh as she moved to get up. Something was wrong and he didn't like it one bit. If she was afraid of whoever was calling she wasn't leaving his side.
"Stop calling me."
Kian had incredible hearing, but he had to strain to hear the voice on the other end of the line.
"You owe us. Bitch. We own you," is what Kian heard. His hackles raised.
"No. I don't. I don't owe you anything. Stop calling me."
Before Kian could listen for anything else, Raine hung up and practically threw her phone across the coffee table.
He pulled her into his lap. Jealousy pooled around his stomach. She was his. His cougar had awoken, sitting and waiting just under the surface ready to either fight or mark her. He wasn't going to let anyone take Raine from them.
"Raine? What was that?" he asked.
"It's. Uh. Well, remember how I said I really didn't want a shifter?"
He nodded, although internally he patted himself on the back for changing her mind.
"It's," she sighed. "It's because of my ex. There's a million things different from you and him, but needless to say he really screwed me up. Gran hated him, and I should have realized sooner she was right."
Kian held her tightly, his head resting in the crux her neck breathing in the sweet scent of her mixed with the fear he wanted to wipe away. Gently his kissed behind her ear. He didn't want to stop her from talking.
"He, well he overdosed. He was an addict, only I didn't really know that for the first few months. Gran had just died and I was really lonely. My parents haven't been in the picture for a really long time. Gran was everything to me." She shifted, relaxing into him. "He was really good at reading me. That's the scariest part. He treated me like I mattered. He knew I needed to feel wanted. Like I belonged. He knew what I needed and I played right into it."
Kian took a long breath. "Let me guess, a pack animal? Wolf?"
She gave a small nod. "Yeah. But why was that your guess?"
He made absent little circles around her lower back. "Feeling like you belong usually means a group. Don't get me wrong. There are some great packs out there, I'm just more of a loner. Groups give me the creeps."
Her body slowly molded into his embrace as she chuckled.
"Yeah. Well all shifters freaked me out until you. It still scares me that you are just making me feel what I need, and that maybe at some point ..."
Her voice died off.
"What Raine? Tell me what you think of me."
"I. I don't know. Just that. That you'll leave me or use me."
An arrow to the heart wouldn't have hurt any worse than her words.
"Raine? You don't truly believe that o
f me, do you?"
She shook her head. "No. Not really. I can feel it, I can feel you. I know you wouldn't."
Kian didn't like that she doubted him based on some other assholes mistakes. "I wouldn't. That’s for damn sure. So, what this prick, he overdosed? So was that him? What did he recover and expect you to wait for him? That was him tying to get you back?"
Wringing her hands he watched her jaw muscles clench and unclench. "No. He died."
Her body sat rigid. Raine might have been right next to him, but she might as well have been miles away. He pulled her closer, and she didn't fight him.
The predator in him rejoiced that the competition didn't exist. He wasn't ready to add murderer to his list of problems; not after he narrowly escaped that predicament with his dad. She wasn't done yet though.
"The phone calls. They are, well that was his pack. They uh, they split from a larger pack a few years ago and are trying to increase numbers. When you talk about a mate you seem to believe with your whole being I am the only one. With them, I'm not sure they believe that."
Sitting in silence for a moment Kian finally spoke.
"Raine, that’s not a pack. That’s a few rouges that happen to think the more of them that are around, the better. I don't know that much about wolf packs, but I know rouges. I fight enough of them."
She turned to look at him, and he didn't like the look one bit. The woman was thinking.
"Yeah. I'm not sure how I feel about you fighting anything. Let's revisit that in a minute," she said.
He squirmed under her scrutiny.
A moment longer and she went to studying an invisible spot on her pants. "About these guys and the fact their brother overdosed they blame me. I tried. I really tried to get him to stop. I begged him to stop. A part of me loved him, and he filled this hole in my life."
Both Kian and his cougar stirred at that. No one was allowed to fill any holes of hers, figurative or literally. He had that covered. She was still talking, even though he'd just blanked out in anger.
"Kian? I swear that was all he was - and once I realized I was just another woman they wanted to control, or I should say they realized they could control I left. He's the reason I started the self defense classes. When I went back because he begged me, I found him laying on the floor, unresponsive and pasty."
