When It Raines, He Purrs (Move Over Fate Book 2; Paranormal Dating Agency) Page 7

Kian's heart rate had started to spike as his cougar started to grow restless at the story.

"Is it wrong that a part of me was relieved? Until now?" she said.

Every word coming out of her mouth added one more chunk of coal under the fire already burning within him when it came to Raine.

"So who was on the phone Raine?"

Her eyes never met his. She looked everywhere but at him. "It was one of his brothers, or pack members, I’m not really sure what he is. But they think I owe them. They think that I belong to them. They've been stalking me for the last year. I've changed my number twice now and they still find it. They haven’t found my apartment at least."

  "Raine, look at me."

His index finger gently rested under her chin, coaxing her face to look at him.

"I want you to know that I would never do that. Know that when I say you are mine, I mean that you are my responsibility. You are my sanity. You are the woman that my soul craves and my cougar desires more than our next meal."

He paused, studying her. Raine didn't make eye contact until she seemed to cover every inch of the room.

Kian didn't like waiting, and waiting for her to trust him wasn't his thing. "Raine, you are my soul mate. I would die for you. No one, including myself would hurt you." He knew this to be true. Deep within himself, he knew he couldn't hurt her. His cougar knew who she was to them and that was all he needed. Too bad the niggling in the back of his head had him remembering his dad. Kian truly believed he couldn't hurt Raine, he did. But then again, his dad hadn't protected his mom.

Shifting position on the couch, pulling her onto his lap he pushed aside the doubt.

"Raine, when you agree to mate me, someday, when you accept me as yours, then I promise you will be safe always. My sole purpose is to protect you, and love you."

He nuzzled into her shoulder, kissing the space between her collar bone and her neck. "I will protect you now."

  He kissed her again. "Tomorrow."

His tongue slowly licked the place he'd just kissed. "For always. If you just let me."

She shivered. The sweet scent of arousal slowly replaced the fear lingering within the air.

The tension within her tightened muscles relaxed as she sank against him. Slowly, she seemed to allow him to kiss away her fears. He pressed a tender brush of his lips against hers and waited for her to kiss him back. Each tick of his heart had the confidence within him wavering until she responded to his touch.

He picked her up, repositioning them. Kian laid her down on the couch. Without breaking their embrace, he positioned himself over her.

His cougar purred as she pulled him down. His body pressed into her, Raine's heart a mirror of his.

Pulling away, she met his eyes. "I don't know that I believe in soul-mates yet, but I do believe that you are everything I want."

She paused. Her chest rising and falling beneath him. "You're everything I need."

Sitting up he took her in, the view of her a magnificent sight. She placed one leg on either side of him, he shifted, settling between them. Running his hands up her fully clothed thighs, he enjoyed the way her body reacted to his touch. Kian bent down, kissing the bare skin peeking from under her t-shirt.

She squirmed under him as he gripped her hips.

"You have an insatiable appetite," he said.

He glanced up to see her biting her lower lip, a sparkle of mischief on her face.

She wound her fingers into his hair as he kissed lower and lower. Biting at Raine's waist-band, he slowly pulled her pants down. His fingers taking over, feathering a trail down her stomach to her pelvis.

"Maybe you should start wearing more skirts." He winked at her.

Slowly, maybe too slowly if his dick had any say in it, he teased her. His fingers teased at the apex of her thighs, slowly playing with the soft skin.

He licked his way down her slit, slowly parting her lips.

  Fuck.

She was so wet; he nearly came in his pants.

Finding the bud just above, his tongue played until she was squirming for more.

  "Kian. Please."

He peeked up from between her thighs and gazed at her.

  "Please what, princess?"

He loved her moan and the way her hips squirmed under his touch.

  "Please. I want you."

He flicked his tongue against the small bud and smiled as she squealed.

Without a warning she grabbed his face. She set his nerves ablaze as she tried to pull him up. Curiosity got the better of him and he let her. Starved lips claimed his mouth and the animal within in him nearly won control as she challenged him.

Raine pressed her body against him, a move he didn't ignore and accepted. He allowed her control, just this once. She knelt next to him, and he cursed her pants imprisoning her ankles. He wanted her on his lap, riding him.

He followed her as she slowly slid off of the couch. He groaned at the pressure in his balls as he watched her ass while she pulled off her pants. A quick glance over her shoulder at him revealed the mischief in her eyes.

He followed her hands as they slid beneath the hem of her shirt while she slowly turned to face him. Inch by inch she gave him more and more skin until she finally pulled the damn fabric over those amazing breasts of hers. The way her nipples puckered at the chill in the air had him shifting uncomfortably. Shit was getting real, and his pants were in serious danger of popping a stitch.

Dropping her shirt, she came towards him. A flash of what his prey might feel like flashed before his mind. Kneeling in front of him she ran her finger over the bulge behind his jeans. His dick twitched. Clenching his teeth he bit back the next rumble.

His eyes nearly rolled back in his head as she pulled down the zipper of his fly. She smirked as his dick sprang free, greeting her at attention. Before his next breath, her warm mouth was on his dick. Her tongue worked him like he was a Popsicle on a hot summer day.

His leg quivered as her tongue stroked the vein running from base to tip.

A breath hissed through clenched teeth.

Kian felt his balls tighten at the play of her fingertips grazing the skin. He gasped as her pace changed

  Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

"Shit princess. What are you doing to me? Get up here."

Pushing away she stood away from him, just out of reach. His dick twitched at the sight of her hourglass figure. Her full hips curving down to his favorite treat.

Taine giggled as she finally teased him. Running her hand down her neck, across her full chest to her belly button she stopped above the of her legs.

  "Hey big guy, up here."

He looked at her face and damn near laughed. "You're kidding right? I love your face, but you have the most amazing breasts I have ever seen."

He liked the way she seemed to squirm under his gaze.

  "Good enough for me."

Games aside, she put one knee on the couch then the other, straddling him. She was in control. His woman was not one to sit back and let him control her and this was her way of reminding him.

She slowly leaned back, settling herself onto his rock hard dick, the hot wet heat of her meeting the sensitive head as her tight muscles stretched around him, letting him press deeper and deeper into her. Without another thought, he grabbed her hips and closed his eyes letting his head fall back onto the couch. She started to ride him, and fuck he'd let her until her core convulsed and milked him for all he was worth. She could have him any way she wanted him.

Raine leaned against the wall of the gym. He body was hungry for more. She could smell him all over her and she couldn't get enough. The scent of him made the muscles between her legs clench. She needed to focus. She needed to calm her heart rate, she was supposed to be working.

"Gran? What am I doing?" she said to an empty room.

Gran floated one way and then the other as Raine sat at the gym waiting for her students.

"You've been having a lot of hanky pa
nky if I'm not mistaken. I've had to go find other people to bother." The smirk on Gran’s face said all Raine needed to know.

"Yeah yeah. I know that look. Don't take too much credit. Gerri is the whole reason I gave Kian a chance."

Raine looked at the wall clock. Apparently three older woman wanted a private session and had asked for Raine specifically, according to the owner. So, here she was. Waiting.

She'd had to leave the warm arms of Kian to come to work earlier than normal. Squirming from memories of last night had her pressing her back against the wall and biting back a moan. Her body ached in a whole new way. She hadn't slept much the last twenty four hours and yet she didn't notice the exhaustion, not while she was on a high. That small fact had her wondering if she could maybe understand her ex’es addiction.

  "Oh, there she is."

A familiar voice broke Raine's daydream. She looked over to the ding of the door and three women walked in. Older was how the owner of the gym had described the students asking for the private session. Raine took in Gerri and her two companions, all of them looked like time had frozen. Apparently being a shifter meant gravity didn't seem to affect your body the same.

"Hi Gerri. Are you the one who requested a private class?"

She smiled. "Of course. I have to keep this figure up now don't I?"

Raine nodded and shrugged "I suppose so. You guys do look great."

Gerri walked up to Raine. "You are positively glowing. So, are things working out with Kian?"

Raine's face burned. "I. Uh. Yeah. So far."

Gerri stepped back. "You're holding back still though aren't you."

Raine looked around and was disappointed to see that Gran had disappeared again. That woman was never around when she needed her lately.

"I. Uh. Well, no. I like him."

Gerri stood with hands on hips. "The sex is good isn't it? Better than anything you've ever had."

Raine nearly choked on her own spit. "I. Why would you? How did you?" she Sighed. "Yes."

"And the man is just as fierce a protector as he is a lover. But he wouldn't be that way for anyone but you. I'm never wrong. You stop over thinking things and go with your gut"

Raine wanted to. She really wanted to just give in and see how it all turned out.

  "Geri?"

As the women put their shoes aside and came over to the training mats, she smiled.

  "Yes dear?"

"He is hiding something. I can feel it. I don't want any more secrets. I can't have more secrets."

Geri nodded. "My dear girl. Your last boyfriend didn't have a secret; you just didn't want to see that he was an addict."

Raine swallowed down the fact she wanted to say no. The thing was her Gran had pointed out the fact a few too many times. She couldn’t ignore it.

"Fine. But, that doesn't really stop the fact that Kian is hiding something. You can see it in his eyes. His body language."

Geri laughed. "Oh, stop looking for reasons to make this not work. The man knows what he needs and you're it. He won't jeopardize that. Now you just admit that your body knows what you need, even if your head isn't working in its favor."

The confidence within Raine took a small trip out to sea as she tried to wash away the niggling feeling she really did know. What would she do if she'd finally found 'the one?'

"There's the look. Now Raine, get out here and show some old women how to take control and hurt some people."

"You have a way with words Ms. Wilder. Alright, let’s go."

Geri had a presence, and Raine found herself slightly intimidated.

Raine looked around for Gran to give her a quick little don't worry dear or something. Her lack of presence a cold reminder that Gran seemed to be around less and less these days.

"Are you teaching us how to kick some ass or are you just going to stare at the gray walls all night?"

Raine turned her attention back and smiled. "Hold on there killer. Like you really need these lessons."

The three women were obvious shifters, but this wasn't the first time she'd taught paranormal beings. Everyone needed to know the basics of self defense.

As Raine went through the motions she couldn't shake the feeling that although everything seemed fine it wasn't going to stay fine.

Raine needed Gran. She needed to tell her she’d been right, and that Kian was okay. That she finally knew he wouldn't hurt her. She told him she didn't believe in true love, or at least love at first sight. The thing was, if the quivering in her belly was any indication she was already so far into him she couldn't walk away if she wanted to.

The thud of the women connecting with the pads was her only anchor to the moment. "Alright ladies. Let’s use the bags now. Pretend they are someone you can't stand."

One of the older woman spoke out of the side of her mouth, "that would be my ex-husband."

Raine paused. "Although that’s funny, and the right idea, I thought shifters knew their mates? Why are you divorced?"

Geri turned around. "Because she didn't listen to me. Besides, not every shifter listens to their inner selves. The animal that knows what they need. Everyone can make a mistake. Not you though dear. Well, you won't as long as you don't do something dumb. To be fair, he'll get the same speech. I am never wrong."

They all turned around and took a ready stance. On Raine's command they all started to scratch and knee the bags in front of them.

The hour passed fast and soon the children were showing up. Gerri and her friends packed up as she instructed all the younger kids to stand on the mat

She turned back as Geri spoke.

"Remember dear. A man like Kian only comes along once in a lifetime. He might need some polishing, but you won't find anyone more loyal to you. I know these things."

Raine couldn't turn away as the three left.

"See dear. You just need to have faith." Gran popped out of nowhere.

Whispering she said, "where do you keep going? I need your support and you keep leaving."

"Now sweetheart, I've got things to do. I can't just haunt you all day."

Raine wanted to argue with her, but she had work.

"We will talk about this later Gran."

Her wispy figure smiled and went to sit above one of the heavy bags. Gran would always be there when it matter, Raine knew that.

Seeing the image of Gran though, she realized she was starved for physical companionship. Kian spoke to a side of her she hadn't known existed until him. Correcting a little girl’s stance she absently walked past the kids, giving commands. Raine knew that deep down she didn't want to be alone, she wouldn't have gotten into the mess with her last boyfriend had she been a functioning adult.

She felt as if a dam had just cracked and started a flood of thoughts piling high: his smile, Kian’s laugh, the way he moaned at her touch, and the vulnerability of him the other night. Maybe hiding behind her walls didn't make any sense, not when he was right there.

Raine's thoughts ran together, but the site of a little girl kicking a heavy bag and it swinging back had Raine focusing on the here and now. She laughed as the little girl gave the bag a dirty look. "Sophie, what have we said about pushing the bags? Why do we do train?”

Her little voice boomed. “To keep us safe ma’am.”

“Very good. And is pushing the bag going to keep you safe from an attacker?”

“No ma’am,” the kids said in unison.

“Nor will it keep you on your feet," said Raine.

The next forty minutes were going to be long since Raine couldn't stop thinking of Kian. She wanted him beyond just what he could do to her body. He made her smile, and he felt - well what exactly did he feel like?

Looking around at her students, she smiled. They trusted her to teach them. They trusted her to help them learn how to be safe and have confidence. She could teach herself all those things as well, in fact since her ex she had become slightly obsessed with it. Kian though, he wasn't something she could control and yet she
felt safe.

"Alright guys. That’s all for today. Line up."

The bell on the door made a ding and she looked up. Butterflies danced around her stomach at the sight of him. He was all man. He commanded the room with each step, with the confident swagger of his gait as he came in. Her eyes flicked down his body knowing it was hard and muscled only to get caught at the bulge in his jeans.

Gran whispered in her ear, "you've got it bad sweetie."

Her face heated. Raine didn't bother responding to her. She did. She had it so bad she couldn't see herself ever wanting it to end.

He waved from the doors as she saw off her kids. He stood with one hand in his pocket, relaxed.

He would be relaxed. She was so wound up that her body was damn near vibrating at the energy pulsing through it.

"Hey. I didn't expect you," she said.

He stood toe to edge of the sparring mat.

"I felt a lot safer meeting you. It's dark out and I don't have to be at work until tomorrow. This is technically my Saturday I guess."

She eyed him. "Okay. Suit yourself. As soon as all the students are gone, I just need to grab my stuff." She nibbled her lip at the memory of the last time he'd met her. Her breasts throbbed and her nipples hardened just at the memories of his mouth on her.

He cocked his head. "What are you thinking about there Raine?" He smirked at her as he pushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"I. Uh. You damn well know what I am thinking about you ass," she whispered.

He chuckled. "Go get your stuff. That’s the last kid.” He hitched his thumb over his shoulder as the door closed.

  "Oh. Right. Thanks."

"Sure. I'll be right back," she said.

Padding across the room, she flicked off the lights.

"I like him Raine. He's perfect. Don't you dare question Geri."

Shaking her head she said, "yeah Gran. I know. I think I have it figured out by now."

"My dear girl, you never have it all figured out. I'm glad to hear that you aren't arguing with me though. It gives an old woman some peace. I can't be here forever you know."

Raine stepped into the closet, just to be halted by that thought. "What do you mean you won’t be here forever? You're dead already. You said that when you were alive and look at you now."
