  I raised an eyebrow.

“Ok then…..” Logan trailed off, “THAT DOESN’T EXPLAIN WHY YOU’RE TOUCHING MY SISTER!!”

Rosalie and Shawn appeared out of nowhere.

  “Who are you?” Shawn hissed.

Rosalie looked at Max then at me then back and smiled.

“You must be Nat’s boyfriend!!” Max raised an eyebrow and I choked while Logan’s hold on me tightened.

“He’s not my boyfriend Rosalie. He’s just an acquaintance.”

Rosalie smiled wider and grabbed Max’s arm. “Come shopping with us. We could use another hand and this way you could hang out with Nat.” She winked in my direction.

‘SAY NO. SAY NO.’ Logan’s thoughts came through his head to me. I’m an Empath. I can feel people’s feelings and thoughts.

“Sure.” Max shrugged. “I don’t have anything else to do anyways.”

Shawn looked skeptical then looked over at me and Logan and smirked.

“Logan, we need to continue shopping. You can let go of Nat now.”

Logan looked down and I looked back at him sheepishly. He blushed.

“Sorry.” He let me go and walked away. I looked back at Shawn who had a knowing look in his eyes.

  I sighed. Everyone knows something I don’t.

  CHAPTER 5

  Dani’s P.O.V.

If there’s one thing I hate; it’s school. Well school and Jake but that’s not the point. Rai, Nat and I were going to different schools. Rai went a private school, Nat went to public and I went to school for the Royally Gifted. Royally Gifted my butt. We don’t get vacation. The only way we can be taken out of school is if our parents take us out, and mine would never do that.

“Okay class,” Our teacher whined, “We have a new student today.”

The whole class groaned knowing that he’s going to want one of us showing the new kid around. A boy with red-black hair and purple-pink eyes walked in wearing the school uniform. The uniform for the boys is cool and simple: A white shirt, black pants and a red and black tie. The girls have to wear a short red and black skirt, (it stops right under our butts) a white shirt, a purple almost black blazer and a red and black tie. That’s why all the boys were happy to see me here, just to see me in a short skirt.

Anyways, he walked in and gave the teacher a piece of paper. I don’t even know his name. The teacher I mean. I’ve been here all my life and I never once decided to learn his name. Oh well.

“Hi.” The new boy sat next to me. I sit in the back, mostly so I can sleep or slack off.

“Hey.” I replied looking straight ahead.

“You don’t remember me do you?” I shook my head and looked around the class. The Burgandic kids said up front while the Brutanic kids sat at the back. When they saw me sit here, they tried to kill me. I told them, if they touch me, they’ll go home losing body parts. They knew about my temper and my powers so they backed down and shut up. And to get in this school, you either have to be smart, beautiful, rich or royalty.

“Why do you sit in the Brutanic section?” He asked. I think I’m going call him Pinky cause saying ‘he’ all the time makes no sense.

“I sit wherever I damn well please.”

“And you were giving me grief about entering Burgandic territory.” Pinky chuckled. Wait? What?

  “Jake?” I whispered.

“Nice to see you remember me babe.” He smirked.

“What the hell? Couldn’t you go to another school?”

“And miss the chance of seeing you every day?” He looked at my uniform. “I don’t think so.”

I growled dangerously and the teacher looked up, “Miss Montana, is there something wrong?”

“No. I just need to leave.” When we say leave, we mean we need fresh air. Our classrooms are underground and have no windows or anything. We might as well be in a jail cell.

“Fine. But show Mr. Matthews around please.” I grunted and picked up my stuff and walked out. I am not going back in there for the rest of the day. Or week which ever.

“Hey, wait up.” Jake ran up next to me, “You’re supposed to show me around.”

“Our school is underground so there is nothing to show you. We don’t eat the same food, so I can’t show you where your cafeteria is. I don’t go to most of my classes so I can’t tell you where yours are. And that’s it; so leave me alone.” I picked up my pace and he grabbed my arm.

“You know, for a Burgandic, you’re not very nice.”

“If you thought I was nice, you’re mistaken.” I pulled away and kept walking.

“If I didn’t know you, I’d say you don’t like me.”

“And If I knew you, I’d tell you, you know why.”

He grabbed my arms and pushed into a locker. “What is your problem?”

“You’re my problem!! My life is already screwed up; I don’t need another reason to want to die!!! So just leave me alone and go about living your awesome life!!!”

“I’m just trying to be your friend,” He said quietly. “Why would you even want to die?”

“I don’t need any more friends. And it’s none of your business.”

I slipped out of his grasp and walked home. He followed me silently.

“You should be at school.” I said monotonously.

“So should you.” He replied in the same tone.

“I already told you; I don’t go to most of my classes.”

“So if you don’t, why should I?”

I shrugged and he chuckled. I opened my front door silently because if any of my parents were home; they would kill me… literally.

Jake stood outside awkwardly and I stepped aside so he could come in. He looked surprised but stepped inside all the same and kept silent as if listening to something.

“What?” I asked. He grabbed my hand and pulled me upstairs quietly. At the top of the stairs, I heard moaning. What the-?

“It’s coming from there.” He pointed at my parents’ room. Well if they are in there doing what I think they’re doing…. I shuddered as I trailed off. But wait- My mom isn’t home. If she was, I would have smelled her.

I walked slowly and quietly to my parents’ door and opened it. A woman with white silver hair screamed and hid under the covers.

“Mom?” Jake asked, “I thought you were dead.”

The woman got up and smiled sheepishly, “No honey. I’m alive.”

“Marie, this is your son?” My father appeared naked and looking disheveled.

  “Dad?” I asked disbelievingly.

“Daniella, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at school?” His face went from shock to anger in a couple of seconds.

We Montanas are known for one thing, our tempers. And out of all of us, my father has the worst temper. I’m right under him in the temper category.

“Don’t you turn this on me!!! You’re supposed to be at work and you’re here cheating on mom!!! The same woman who wanted to be turned to a vampire so she could spend more time with you!!!”

Jake and his mother fell silent as my father put on a pair of pants and walked over to me.

“Don’t tell me what happened with your mother, I’m the one who turned her.”

“YOU’RE A HYPOCRITE!!” I shouted feeling my anger rise. “SHE’S IN LOVE WITH YOU AND NOW I KNOW WHY LATELY SHE HAS BEEN ANGRY AT THE WORLD!!! BECAUSE YOU’RE CHEATING ON HER!!”

“YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME DANIELLA!! YOU’RE JUST A PAWN!!! A LOVE CHILD!! YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE BORN!!” He shouted back his face turning red with anger.

That burned. More than the zombie and werewolf attack when I was 3, more than seeing Nat’s mother on her death bed but I kept the same face.

“I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BORN!! JUST NOT TO A BAKA LIKE YOU!!!”

He slapped me in my face and my head turned to the side. But I continued.

“My mother loves you and she would do anything for you. She even changed her whole culture and clothes because you wanted it. Sh
e wanted us to stay the family we always were. That’s why when I asked what was wrong, she told me “nothing” and left. She loves you and lately she has been acting more angry and harsh and cold and indifferent. ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!!!”

“Your mother chose that. I didn’t choose it.”

“You’re a filthy bastard and I hope you rot in hell.” Another slap to my face. Jake pulled me back and stood in front of me ready to attack my father. His mother jumped in front of my father ready to attack Jake if he touched him. She would hurt her son because of my father?

I shook my head and glared at my father. “You’re the reason the Burgandic Vampires are so messed up, you’re the reason some turned Brutanic, when you’re evil yourself, you’re the reason so many people don’t look up to you anymore. You’re the reason why I don’t make any more friends. You’re the reason why they hate mom and stay away from me. YOU’RE THE REASON WHY EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY DAMN LIFE I WANTED TO DIE!!! And I swear, if you ever touch or hurt my mother again or even come around her again. I will kill you with my bare hands Edward. I. will. Kill. You.”

“This is my house and what I say goes. You will not tell your mother about this.” Edward warned. He can’t tell me what I can and can’t do. F-

“No she won’t.” I was cut off from my thoughts by a female voice. “Cause I already know.”

My mother was standing there in a red shirt and a pair of black jeans and red ballet flats.

“I have known for a long time. I just didn’t say anything because Dani loves you.”

“Past tense mom. Loved him.” I hissed and Jake pulled back trying to calm me down.

“Because she loved you.” My mom’s face turned from happy to bloodthirsty. “And I told you, if you ever hurt her; there would be hell to pay.” She charged her hands and went to attack but I stopped her.

“He isn’t worth it mom. Let’s just leave.”

She looked at me, then glared at Edward then nodded. Jake left with us after glaring at his mother.

“I’m sorry.” I muttered walking next to my mother. She sighed and looked up.

“I guess I should’ve seen it coming you know?” She looked down at me, tears glistening in her eyes.

“But it doesn’t stop it from hurting.” She sat on the grass and put her head in her hands. I sat next to her and hugged pulling her to my chest. She shook with each sob that escaped. Jake stood there glaring at something behind us. Then said, “I’ll be back, I have something to do first.” He ran off and my mom looked up at me and smirked

  “New boyfriend?”

I choked and looked at her surprised. “No he is not. He’s just trying to be my friend.”

“Yup, your Boyfriend.” She expressed the ‘boy’. I swear sometimes she acts more like my best friend than my mother. She’s even the same height as me.

I smiled seeing her a bit happy. “We’ll get through this mom. We just have to find a place to stay.”

She nodded and laid her head back on my shoulder.

  Rai’s P.O.V.

I sighed and dropped my school clothes in their bag.

“Rai, your mom’s here.” My dad appeared in the doorway trying to hold back tears. Even though this has been happening since I was 4 and they divorced; he still cries seeing me leave. My father is an awesome dad and my mom is the best but her family isn’t. I nodded and walked downstairs leaving everything behind. I have two sets of everything; two sets of clothes, two iPods, and two beds, two of everything. One at my father’s, the other at my mother’s.

I hugged him and walked downstairs and climbed into my mother’s car. My dad is human, my mom is a vampire.

“So how was your week?” She asked sniffling.

I looked at her questioningly. “It was fine.”

She nodded and sniffed again. “Mom what’s wrong?”

She stopped the car and looked at me; tears rolling down her cheeks.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” She sobbed.

“What? Why didn’t I tell you what?” I asked.

“That he raped you. Why didn’t you tell me you had a child?”

I looked out the window. “I didn’t wanna bother you.”

“Rai! You’re my daughter and my brother raped you and you didn’t tell me. You didn’t even tell me when you had a child.”

“Mom… You were busy with everything. I didn’t want you to think less of me or hate me. I just didn’t know how you’d take it.” I replied.

She hugged me. “I don’t think less of you or hate you. It’s not your fault.”

I nodded and she started the car and drove home.

  ***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---**

“So this is your house?” I jumped and landed on my floor in a heap. A chuckle followed. I looked up to see a boy with black hair and red eyes sitting in my window.

“Who are you?” I was in vampire form because I was at my mother’s. If I was at my dad’s I would be human.

“I moved in next door yesterday. Who are you?” He jumped off the window and landed next to me.

“I asked you first.” I replied and went to my closet.

  “Name’s Dai. Yours?”

I looked at him shocked. “Seriously?”

“Yeah, why is that hard to believe?” He asked looking confused.

“My name’s Rai.” He smirked and looked me over.

“So it would be pretty stupid to turn down my offer then.”

  “What offer is that?”

“Go out with me.” I laughed and shook my head. He kept the same face.

“Oh, you’re serious?” He nodded and I opened my closet door.

“No thanks. I have enough on my plate.” I opened the door hidden in my closet.

“Wow you’re rich. That’s why you won’t go out with me? Because I’m poor?” He scoffed disgusted.

“No, I’m not going out with you because I don’t know you.”

“MOMMY!!!” Isabella ran up to me and held onto my legs.

“Hi Izzy.” I picked her up. Dai walked up right behind me.

“Hi. Who are you?” He touched her nose.

“I’m Izzy.” She replied in a small voice.

“I’m Dai. I’m your sister’s friend.” I shook my head.

“She’s not my sister.” Izzy got down and grabbed my hands.

“Come mommy. Come and play.” I smiled. Dai looked at me incredulously.

“She’s your kid?” I shrugged and nodded.

“How old are you?” I sat down on her carpet and picked up a stuffed bear.

“I’m 15. Believe me; I didn’t get her on purpose.” I looked at Izzy as she started playing with the bear.

He stood up at the door and kept silent.

“You’re going to leave now aren’t you?” I felt my heart sink. Everyone that knows about Izzy leaves and never comes back. That’s why I kept her a secret.

He smirked, “I can’t leave because I didn’t get my answer.”

“What answer?” I looked down at Izzy who was bringing me a book to read to her. I picked her up and put her in her bed.

He came next to me and pulled my head in his direction so I was facing him.

“Rai, will you go out with me?” I blinked. Damn he doesn’t give up. I sighed.

  “When?”

“Friday night. 7:00 p.m.” He smiled and kissed Izzy on her forehead and left. Izzy giggled.

“Mommy,” I looked down at her, “Is he my new daddy?”

“Not yet.” Dai’s voice sounded from my room. I shook my head and walked to Izzy’s door where he was by my door smirking at me.

“Bye Dai.” I slammed the door. Five minutes later, I felt bad so I opened the door and he was gone. Great, now I’ve hurt his feelings.

“Mommy?” I closed back the door and went to her. I picked up the book. I nodded and started to read.

  Chapter 6

  Nat’s P.O.V.

  “Dad!! Where’s my jacket?!” I
heard Rosalie shout through the house.

“I don’t know Rose.” My father appeared at the bottom of the stairs wiping his hands on a cloth. “Check Nat’s closet in case.”

“Found it!!” She came out of my room and ran downstairs. “Bye.” She ran out the door and into her friend’s car.

My father chuckled and returned back to his cooking. I don’t know how he does it. I mean, being a human and taking care of…. four different vampire teens? I would go mad after the first. But then again, the first two are his.

“Don’t fall Nat.” Shawn kissed me on my head and left the room. I smiled.

  “I won’t.” I was currently sitting on the banister Indian-style. I won’t fall unless….

I jumped down and landed on the carpet below.

  “Shawn!! You sold me out!!”

“No I didn’t. I just told her not to fall.” Shawn’s voice sounded from the kitchen.

I glared at Logan. “You were trying to scare me.”

“And I would’ve too; if it wasn’t for that meddling kid.” I shook my head. He watches way too much TV.

“Go to sleep Logan.” I grabbed my jacket. “Dad!! I’m going to Dani’s!!”

“Have fun and be back before dinner!!”

  “I will!!”

  ***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---***---

I knocked on Dani’s basement and climbed in.

  “Dani?”

“Over here.” I walked over to her where she was lying on a mattress next to her mother.

“What happened? Why are you not upstairs?” I whispered. Apparently there was a reason she was down here.

She sighed before telling me the whole story.

“Oh my God. What are you going to do?”

She shrugged. Then I got an idea.

  “Let’s go to Rai.”

  She nodded.

  Rai’s P.O.V.

  I’m so bored.

“Good thing I came then?” A voice said from behind me and again I fell to my floor in a heap.

“Do you do that every time you hear my voice?” Dai chuckled.

“Well maybe if you stop scaring me every time you see me. That wouldn’t happen.” I replied getting up from the floor.

  “I’m sorry.” I apologized.

  “For what?” He asked.

“Slamming the door in your face.”

He snickered. “Do you apologize every time you think you’ve hurt someone’s feelings?”

  I looked away. “Pretty much.”

He pulled my face in his direction. “Then we’re going to have to work on that.”

  I raised an eyebrow. “We?”
