Determined and stubborn. A beautiful combination.

The combination reminded me of my ex, though. She had been determined and stubborn. Strong and independent. Resolute to a fault. And she left me high and dry for one of my old SEAL buddies. It reminded me very quickly why I don’t mess around with relationships any longer.

And that was all it took to finally push Roxy from my mind.

  Roxy

  One Week Later

Clint was stubborn; I’d give him that. But, it was fun playing around with him. At least, for a short time, it was. No matter how many times I set off that alarm with punching in wrong passwords, he didn’t come down to face me. He didn’t grow a set of balls large enough to come stare me in the face after what happened the night of my birthday. However, as the week progressed, he became bolder and bolder.

And pretty soon, he started passing by my desk every morning in the most amazing suits I’d ever seen on a man.

  “Morning, Roxy.”

“Here, brought you some coffee from the lounge.”

“Don’t forget, you have an extra half hour for lunch. Don’t think I didn’t see you clock back in early yesterday.”

I knew he was taunting me. I knew he was wearing those suits just so I’d run my eyes over him. And damn it, it did the trick. Those suits clung to him in all the best ways, and I salivated over the muscles beneath the pristine fabrics. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop staring at him. I couldn't stop looking forward to seeing him every morning. And I sure as hell couldn't rid my nose of the smell of his cologne whenever I laid down at night. All week, he’d been torturing me. All week, he’d been driving me crazy. He knew it, too. I saw it in the smirk he gave me every morning whenever he walked through those front doors and stopped me dead in my tracks.

  Every.

  Single.

  Time.

Damn it. He’s sexy as hell.

Every time I turned around, I was making excuses for needing to go up and see him. Files I ‘needed’ to deliver myself. Signatures I ‘needed’ to acquire in person. Files that ‘needed’ to be pulled for new clients and cases. Anything to get the smallest glimpse of him and be in his presence for a little bit longer. I spent the entire week coming up with reasons to be near him. I spent every night fantasizing about him until I slipped into a fitful slumber. And I did absolutely nothing to stop my eyes from lingering on his body every time he walked by my desk.

It was pure and utter torture.

  And I loved it.

  “Roxy?”

Clint’s voice through the desk intercom pulled me from my trance, and I scrambled to answer him.

I cleared my throat. “Yes, Mr. Hearthstone?”

“Come up to my office, please. At your earliest convenience.”

  “Of course, sir. Right away.”

I stood from my desk and ran my hands over my dress. I slid my feet back into my heels and fluffed my hair out before reaching into my purse. I pulled out my compact mirror and did a quick check of my makeup, just to make sure I didn’t need to touch anything up. And after running a smooth layer of red lipstick across my lips, I started for the elevator, while trying to ignore the fluttering of nerves in my gut.

What did he want me for? Was something wrong? Did he simply want to see me? Was I in trouble for something? As I rose up the elevator, I wrung my hands together. There was no telling what he wanted, and I knew whatever he asked of me, the answer would always be ‘yes.’

Yes, Clint. I’ll get those files right away.

Yes, Clint. I’ll run out and pick up your lunch.

Yes, Clint. I’ll gobble down your cock for dessert. Whatever you want.

“Come on. Pull it together,” I breathed.

The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open, revealing the top floor. And as I gazed down the hallway at Clint’s office, I froze. I don’t know what happened, but I couldn’t move. Something held me in place as my breathing came in short spurts.

You’re being stupid. It’s only Clint. It’s only your boss.

It’s only the man I fantasized about every night for the past four nights.

As the elevator doors started to close, the jarring sound ripped me from my trance. I leaped off the elevator and started down the hallway before knocking softly on his door. I heard his voice call out for me to come in, and I slipped inside, quickly closing the door behind me. Like he always wanted.

And when his eyes rose to me, I saw them lingering against my chest for just a few seconds longer than they should have.

It filled me with a great deal of pride.

“Anything I can help you with, sir?” I asked.

He stood from his desk. “Thank you for coming so quickly.”

  “Of course. It sounded urgent.”

He walked from around his desk. “That’s because it is.”

My heart slammed against my chest. “What’s going on, Cli--Mr. Hearthstone?”

He chuckled. “It’s fine. Behind closed doors, ‘Clint’ is just fine.”

I smiled. “Good to know, Clint.”

He leaned against his desk. “I took another look at your resume.”

  I paused. “Oh?”

He crossed his arms over his chest. “Yep. And after reviewing it a few times over, I know why it’s been bugging me all this time.”

“I’m sorry, you called me up here to talk about my resume?”

He blinked. “What did you think I called you up here for?”

To bend me over your desk? “I just thought it was work-related. File-pulling, or something like that.”

He shook his head. “No, nothing like that.”

“Are you about to fire me? Is this because of all those alarms I--?”

He interrupted me. “I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re too qualified for the job you’re doing.”

I licked my lips. “But, you’re not firing me?”

  He shook his head. “Nope.”

“So, what are you doing, then?”

  He grinned. “I’m promoting you.”

  “To…?”

“To the assistant manager of my foremost security team.”

My mouth went dry. “Come again?”

He stood up, slipping his hands into his pockets. “Roxy, you’re good with people. You’re good at figuring out problems and dealing with their shit while still putting them in their place. You’re headstrong, not easy to manipulate, and you’re independent. I know that even if I didn’t set out a schedule for you, you’d still abide by one. It’s just how you work.”

“So, how does that make me qualified to do anything with your security teams?”

“The men I hire are ex-military and very stubborn. They need someone who’s more available than I am to give them what they need, whether it’s time off, or more hours, or a stern talking to. You’re good at that kind of stuff. You have a mind for organization, and you don’t have the stomach for anyone’s crap. Those are two necessary components for this kind of job that not many people have enough of, in my opinion.”

“So, you want me to manage one of your security teams.”

“Well, I technically manage all of them. But, you’d be assistant manager for the only team I hire full-time.”

  I nodded slowly. “Right.”

I wasn’t sure where all of this was coming from. I mean, I hadn’t worked very much in my life, which was obvious on my resume. The damn thing was only three or four lines with a bunch of filler to beef it up. But, I wasn’t going to question things. A change of scenery would be nice, especially if it came with a pay bump.

And now, I wouldn't have to lie about things in order to crane my neck just to catch a glimpse of Clint whenever I wanted.

He cleared his throat. “There will be a raise, of course. And an increase in benefits. You’d be doing more work, possibly even taking some of it home. So, that would be compensated accordingly.”

  I nodded. “Okay.”

  “But, sh
ould you choose to take the job--.”

  I smiled. “I accept.”

He paused. “Well, good. I’m glad. Because I already have your first assignment.”

“Shouldn’t I meet the team or something first?”

He reached around and plucked a file off his desk.

“One of our bigger clients is a casino here in Vegas. They employ my full-time security team, so this job will technically introduce you to them. The casino has asked that I personally install a new locking device on their safe beneath the casino. I want you to come along with me so you can meet the team you’ll be managing, and so you can survey some of the work we do on a regular basis to keep things running smoothly.”

“So, it’s common practice for someone to ask for something like this?”

He nodded. “Yep. We don’t just track down bad guys and shoot them in the head. We deal in every kind of security our clients might need. From around-the-clock interpersonal security to installing security systems, to safe implementation and maintenance, we do it all. This happens to be a maintenance call, and I want you to ride with me on it. You up for the task?”

Anything to be near you. “Of course. But, who’s going to run the front desk?”

“Don’t you worry about that. I’ve already got it covered. A new gal will be taking your place tomorrow morning.”

  “Right. Gotcha.”

He walked over and handed me the file. “Read through this while we’re riding over there. It’s about a fifteen-minute drive, so I expect you to have it--.”

I took the file from him. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just lead the way.”

I distracted myself during the entire ride with the file in front of me. I looked over schematics. I didn’t understand and familiarized myself with the names and faces of the five men on this security team. I was familiar with the casino, though. It used to be Kelly’s favorite spot. The Wild Coyote was known for its spectacular drink specials, gut-bombing food, and crazy concerts. It was a hell of a place to be at any given hour, but especially on the weekends.

“Tell me what you would do first,” Clint said.

I looked up from the file. “What?”

He pulled in behind the casino. “Tell me what you would do first if you were installing this yourself.”

I looked over at him. “Uh, are you kidding me?”

  He parked. “Nope.”

“I’ve got no idea what to do first.”

He turned off the car. “Look through the file while we get into the basement, then I’ll ask you again.”

I sighed. “All right, fine. I can do that.”

I followed him mindlessly through the back entrance of the casino. A guy I recognized as ‘Bart’ from the file led us down a flight of steps. I followed the sound of Clint’s footsteps as I looked over the schematics again. It all looked like rubbish to me, until I saw the notes in the margins.

  “Oh,” I said.

Clint chuckled. “What do we do first?”

I looked up. “We have to disable the cameras. The facial recognition program is going to set off the alarm if it clocks our faces.”

  “Exactly. Give me one second.”

I looked up at the massive facade on this safe and felt my jaw slowly unhinge. Holy shit, this thing was massive. And I looked over at Bart to see if he was this impressed. I didn’t see him, though. I looked around to try and track him down so I could introduce myself, but I didn’t see him anywhere.

Clint and I were down here alone.

  Oh, boy.

“All right. Can you tell me what to do next? Did you get that far?” Clint asked.

My eyes fell back to the file. “We’re good to get this thing open. It looks like there’s some sort of… maintenance code? Is that what this says?”

I heard the massive door lurch open. “Yep. I just wanted to see if you caught it. Now, it’s time for us to get to work.”

“The locking mechanism we switch out is on the inside?”

He walked back up to me. “It is, yes.”

  I sighed. “Wonderful.”

Walking into the safe felt like I was walking into some sort of cathedral. I mean, my entire apartment could fit into this damn thing and still not fill it up. My eyes cased the walls and the ceiling while I heard Clint working behind me. And even though I knew I needed to be paying attention, I was much too distracted.

  “Roxy?”

  “Huh?”

  “Are you watching?”

I slowly turned to face him. “Sorry, I just didn’t expect this place to be this…”

  He smirked. “Big?”

I felt a shiver work it way down my spine. “Yes. Big.”

He motioned with his head. “Come here. Let me show you something.”

I walked up to him. “What is it?”

He chuckled. “You’re going to have to come closer if you’re going to watch me rewire this thing.”

I set the file down onto the floor and slowly walked up to him. I peered over his arms while he worked, and he seemed to be focused. His hands seemed so steady. While I was practically sweating between my thighs because I was so close to him, he didn’t seem the least bit bothered.

That was until he reached across my body for something and brushed his arm against my breasts.

I looked down at our connection as his arm froze. My eyes slid up his arm, up his shoulder, all the way up his neck until our eyes met. I didn’t know what to do. I sure as hell didn’t want to move, but this certainly wasn’t professional. So, I waited for him to move. I waited for him to jerk away and command me to get out of the safe so he could work.

But instead, his eyes grew dark.

  “Roxy?”

  I swallowed hard. “Yes?”

“I really am sorry about last weekend.”

I felt my hopes deflating. “Oh. It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

“You deserved better for your birthday.”

  I shrugged. “It’s okay. I’m over it.”

He licked his lips. “You know what I’m not over, though?”

  My heart came alive. “What?”

Then, his body turned to me. “You.”

Before my brain kicked into gear, I felt my body fall against his. I felt his arms catch me around my waist as I gripped his suit, practically pulling myself up to his mouth. I needed to taste it. I needed to taste him. And when our lips finally connected, I felt my soul light up.

  Oh, fuck, yes.

  “Damn it,” he growled.

His hands gripped my ass cheeks before he hoisted me against him. I wrapped my legs around his body, climbing him like a damn tree before they locked around his waist. I felt my back fall against the cold, unforgiving safe wall. And as our tongues dueled for dominance, I felt his hand shoving my dress up my legs.

  “Clint. I need--.”

He sucked on my lower lip, pulling a guttural groan from my gut.

“I know exactly what you need,” he grunted.

I heard his belt buckle falling to the floor before my panties slid off to the side. I was already dripping wet as his lips fell down to my neck, kissing and sucking and nibbling. His teeth raked against my pulse point. I threaded my fingers through his hair. I felt his throbbing cock falling between my pussy lips, and my eyes bulged at his girth.

  “What the fuck?” I breathed.

He kissed my shoulder. “Trust me. I’ll make it fit.”

The sentence terrified me, yet filled me with passion. I pulled back, gazing into his carnal stare as he pulled his hips back. I felt his tip catch at my entrance, and I braced myself, ready to be spread as if I were still a virgin.

And when he pushed into me, my head fell back against the wall.

  “Holy fucking Christ,” I groaned.

  He hissed. “Shit, you’re tight.”

My eyes bulged. “Oh, right there. Oh, God, yes.”

  “Not done yet.”

I panted. “Fucking hell, how big are you?”

  He chuckled.
Big enough.”

With every inch that sank into me, I clung tighter to him. Now, I understood the rumors. Now, I understood why the women of the office called him ‘Big Stuff,’ or ‘Big Guy,’ or ‘The Big Head Honcho.’

I didn’t think he’d ever stop filling my pussy.

Until our hips finally bottomed out together.

  “Holy shit,” I panted.

He captured my lips. “You’re so wet for me.”

My forehead fell against his. “I’ve been like this for days.”

Then, his lips moved to my ear. “Happy birthday, Roxy.”

He pulled his hips back, snapping them against my own. And as my walls fluttered around him, I clung to his suit. I buried my face into the crook of his neck, feeling my clit pulsing for attention and feeling my body surging with electricity and feeling my heart in a state of shock as this perfect man filled me to the brim. I rolled my hips against his. I slid my hand between our bodies. I slipped my soft fingers between my lower lips, finding that swollen little nub that ached for attention.

But, before I could really get myself going, Clint ripped my hand away.

He pinned my wrists above my head.

  “Clint, please,” I whimpered.

His hand fell between my legs. “Only I will give you what you what. Understood?”

I nodded quickly. “Yes. Yes, I get it. I get it. Please, just--.”

  He stroked my clit. “Yes?”

I moaned. “Oh, fuck. Just like that.”

I lost myself in him. I lost myself in the pounding and the tickling and the growling and the kissing. I lost myself in the way his fingertip worked my clit with effortless perfection. I lost myself in the way his cock felt sliding against every single part of my pussy at once. I lost myself in his smell, and his sweat, and the way his cologne invaded my nose.

I never wanted the moment to end until I felt my walls squeezing his dick.

“That’s it. Milk me, princess. Give Daddy what he wants.”

My eyes whipped open at his words as my body jumped, my tits bouncing against my body. Did he just say what I thought he just said?

  Thank you, Jesus.

  “Oh, Daddy,” I moaned.

He growled. “There it is, princess.”
