The Stargazer

"Our ancestors had no other options. They left their ships and jumped into the water and lost consciousness. When they woke up, our ancestors found themselves floating on the water but something had changed. Their skin tone became blue, gills appeared on their arms; in short, the humans turned into mermen."
"The legend said that there was one man who was floating on the water when our ancestors came to themselves. That man called himself Ianto, he introduced himself as the one who transformed humans into mermen. Our ancestors wanted to worship him like a god but he refused. He said that he was just passing by and did not need such a small group of people to worship him because he already had the stargazers to do so."
"This is the story of how humans turned into mermen. Since that day, our ancestors have been looking for those stargazers but have yet to succeed. You have to be careful. I don't know what happened with that Alexander but he is definitely not weak!"
Aila quietly listened to the story. It was the first time she was actually interested in the stories of one of her pursuers. "Alright, I will be careful but that Alexander is already biased against me. If he comes for me, what can I do?"
"Stay on the island where you are safe. I will go and look for him. If he really is a stargazer, then my people will naturally be interested in meeting him," declared Keran with a thoughtful expression.
"How are you planning to find him? The entire world is looking for him and has yet to find him," argued Aila.
"As long as he touched the sea, I will be able to trace him back to the coast. In the sea, mermen are second to none. Don't compare us to the humans of this planet. After all that time, they have yet to discover our existence. Furthermore, they still believe that only three rifts have been opened on their planet. They boast the development of their technology but cannot even find the rift at the bottom of the ocean? We stalked them for years and they did not even notice; that is pathetic. To top it off, they even thought that the rise in water level was due to the melting of the icebergs; they don't even know that it is was just the water from our world that was flowing in."
Aila lightly laughed. "Then, it would be great if you find him. If you do, tell him that I am sorry and that I did not mean to find his secret."
"Don't worry. I am sure this is just a misunderstanding. But If he turns out to be a stubborn man, then I will have no choice but to get rid of him before the council discovers his existence."
