According to Fangfang, Grandpa had late-stage cancer. It was too late for the doctors to do anything when he was diagnosed with it.

Grandpa had been a hard worker when he was younger, and his body was never in good health. The disease had caused him to be bedridden. Within a month, the cancerous cells had already spread throughout his body.

“Grandpa!” Ma Fangfang called out gently as she clutched the old man’s hand.

The old man did not move.

Tears welled up in Ma Fangfang’s eyes. She sat down at the bedside and started to sob quietly.

Very soon, the old man seemed to have perceived something. His eyelids fluttered and he mumbled something.

“It’s me, Grandpa!” Ma Fangfang called out.

However, the old man remained mostly unconscious and could not recognize her.

  Ma Fangfang sat down again.

“My Grandpa loved me very much when I was younger. I’ve been living here since I was a baby. I remember that every summer evening, Grandpa would place me on his lap and tell me stories while we enjoyed the breeze by the doorway.”

She started sobbing again as she spoke.

Tang Hao did not say anything.

He was not a stranger to death, which was why he felt sorry for her at the moment.

He walked toward her and patted her shoulder.

Then, he reached out to diagnose Grandpa Shunde’s condition.

  He furrowed his brows.

Grandpa Shunde’s condition was dire, even more serious than Old Master He. It was impossible to fully cure the disease. To do so, he needed to make some special pills, which he did not have the ingredients for.

However, his life could be extended, though not by very long. Grandpa Shunde had late-stage cancer, which was different from Old Master He’s condition.

When he treated Old Master He back then, he had not learned how to make pills. If he treated Old Master He now, he could have easily extended his life by ten years or more.

He thought for a while and decided on a plan.

Suddenly, a car horn was heard from outside. Then, there was a commotion.

He looked down from the window and could see that the steel gate was kicked open. A group of people was rushing in urgently.

The four people in the lead were two males and two females. They must be Ma Fangfang’s uncles and aunts. A few young men followed them from behind, after whom were several men in business suits and holding briefcases.

Following the group was a crowd of villagers eager to watch the drama unfold.

“Where’s Father? How is he now? Did he wake up? I want to ask him myself, how could he be so cruel to write such a will? Are we not his sons?” One of the men in the lead yelled. He had a hostile expression on his face.

“That’s right! This is unfair! Why didn’t I get anything?” The other man yelled.

“Cai Yourong, you despicable woman, you must have forced Father to write such a will when he was unconscious!” One of the women shrieked. “Let me tell you, the will is invalid if the person is unconscious when writing it. I’ve brought so many lawyers with me today. I’d like to see how you would argue your way out of this!”

Cai Yourong’s face was pale when she saw so many vicious faces as she stood at the doorway.

She suddenly realized that she did not recognize those faces at all.

Their savage gaze was like a sharp sword that pierced her heart.

Those two men were her brothers!

The other people were also her relatives.

She stood there, caught in a daze.

“Don’t you remember that we’re siblings, Yourong? How dare you set us up like that, are you even human?” The man with the hostile expression chided sternly.

“First Brother!” Cai Yourong called out.

“Don’t call me Brother! I don’t have a scheming, cruel sister like you. Let me tell you, I don’t recognize this will. I want Father to write another will,” Cai Youliang, Ma Fangfang’s first uncle, yelled.

“That’s right! Write another will!” The woman standing next to him shrieked. “How can you, a woman, inherit your father’s property? Father’s property should be split among your brothers.”

Cai Yourong was more stunned than ever. She opened her mouth but did not say a word.

“Hah! Are you feeling guilty now? Cat got your tongue?” The woman was unyielding. Her arms were akimbo and she looked like a shrew.

Behind them, the villagers were talking among each other.

“No wonder. I was curious about why Grandpa Shunde left everything to his daughter. She might have forced him.”

“That can’t be? I thought Yourong is a kind person.”

“Pah! You don’t know what money can do to someone. When the mansion gets demolished, they’ll get three million in compensation! Can’t you imagine that she would do anything to get that three million?”

“Right! Three million! She wouldn’t need to work for the rest of her life.”

“Ha, I should’ve known that Cai Yourong isn’t a good person. She’s only a daughter, but why is she so eager to please her old man? So it’s all because of money.”

“That jinx of a woman who caused her husband’s death can’t be a good person.”

Those words were like thorns in Cai Yourong’s ears.

She was merely performing her role as a filial daughter, but they had mistakenly thought she did all that for money. That could not be any farther from the truth.

She closed her eyes in agony.

“You’re still pretending? Stop pretending to play the victim. Step aside, I want to see Father! I want to ask him myself!” The woman shrieked, then stepped forward and pushed Cai Yourong aside.

She deliberately used a lot of force when pushing and Cai Yourong fell on the floor.

The group of people rushed up the stairs.

Ma Fangfang saw all that. She was trembling in anger.

“They’re all animals!” Her fists were clenched tightly.

The group of people stomped up the stairs.

The middle-aged woman looked around the room. “Oh, Fangfang is here too! Who is he? Your boyfriend? Why can’t you be a good girl instead of dressing up like a sl*t?”

“You…” Ma Fangfang was livid. She glared at the woman.

“Tsk! Do you want to argue with me, little girl? You are still too young for that! Get lost now. I want to see my father.”

Her expression immediately changed. She fell onto the bedside, put on a sorrowful face, and clutched the old man’s hands while wailing loudly.

“Oh, Father! You can’t be so cruel! You must have been deceived by your daughter. She’s not a good person! Our Haijiang married her for a few years and has gone missing. She must have jinxed him again.”

As she wailed, she kept pushing the old man on the bed.

Chapter 338 - Grandpa Is Awake

“You can’t be that cruel, Father!”

Cai Youliang and Cai Youtao fell next to the bed and cried pretentiously.

Behind them, the young men also crowded around.

Ma Fangfang watched impassively at the scene. “What a bunch of ingrates!” She cursed softly.

Tang Hao furrowed her brows. The ‘Haijiang’ that the woman mentioned must have been Huang Haijiang.

‘So, that bastard Huang Haijiang is from her family. No wonder!’

The woman must have introduced Huang Haijiang to Ma Fangfang’s mother. That was like throwing her under the bus, and it had harmed Ma Fangfang as well.

Tang Hao’s expression grew even colder as he thought of that.

  “What are you doing?”

Cai Yourong arrived from downstairs. “The doctor said that Father won’t make it. He isn’t going to wake up anymore and he might leave us any time. You’re only hastening his passing by pushing him!”

Cai Youliang and the others were shocked. They stopped wailing immediately.

Their sad, agonized faces became cold and impassive.r />
“So, he’s not waking up anymore! I shouldn’t have cried so hard then!” First Aunt Huang Lili chuckled.

Cai Youliang looked at the old man on the bed. A hint of sorrow flashed in his eyes.

The old man was his father after all. He must have felt a shred of empathy.

However, his gaze turned impassive very soon.

He felt more anger than sorrow for his father. According to tradition, an old man’s inheritance was supposed to be split among the sons. A married daughter had no right to any of it.

Not only the daughter was included in the will, but she had received the entire share. The sons did not get a single cent.

That was more ridiculous than anyone could have imagined.

“Looks like he can’t write another will,” he said impassively. He seemed frustrated.

The easiest way would have been for the old man to write a new will. They would need to go to court if they wanted to contest the will.

“Brother, if you have any grievances, we can go downstairs and talk through it. Can’t you give Father some peace?” Cai Yourong sounded as though she was begging.

“Hmph! He’s almost dead, does he need any peace?” Huang Lili mocked.

“That’s enough. Let’s go downstairs,” Cai Youliang said with a low voice. He led the way downstairs.

  “Are you alright, Mom?”

After the others went downstairs, Ma Fangfang asked her mother concernedly.

“I’m fine. I’m not hurt, but my heart hurts!” Cai Yourong sighed. She seemed tired.

Then, she held Ma Fangfang’s hand and went downstairs.

Tang Hao stood there and sighed. Fortunately, the old man was unconscious and did not hear all that. Otherwise, he might have vomited blood out of anger. The old man was unlucky to have two ingrates as his sons.

“Whatever. I’ll just treat it as helping Fangfang. I’m not too happy with those bastards anyway.”

Tang Hao mumbled. He flicked his hand and two pills appeared in his palm.

He quickly walked forward, prised open the old man’s lips, and inserted them into his mouth.

“Tang Hao!” He heard Ma Fangfang calling him from downstairs.

  “Coming!”

Tang Hao clapped his hands, went downstairs, and followed Ma Fangfang to the front yard.

Can Youliang and the others were gathered in a corner, talking to the men in business suits.

A while later, they came over with hostile expressions on their faces.

“Let me tell you frankly, Yourong, both our families will not agree to the will. We will fight it until the end, whatever it takes.

“The lawyers have already said that as long as we can prove that Father is not of sound mind when he wrote the will, the will can be overturned. We have also asked the doctor in the hospital that he says that Father has been losing consciousness since the day before he wrote the will.

“If the doctor can bear witness, the will can be immediately overturned. You won’t even get a single cent if that happens.

“How about this. You can voluntarily give up your inheritance so that it’ll be split among us brothers. After the mansion is demolished and we are compensated, we will give you some of the money. What do you think?”

  Cai Yourong hesitated.

Before she could say anything, Huang Lili shrieked. “You still want to give her some money? Does she deserve even a single cent?”

Cai Yourong looked sorrowful. She sighed and opened her mouth.

Ma Fangfang pulled her hand. “Don’t agree to their demands, Mom. These ingrates are bullying you. How can you yield to them?”

“Adults are talking here. Don’t interrupt, little girl!” Huang Lili shrieked.

Ma Fangfang was instantly livid. “Shut up, Huang woman! Who do you think you are? You’re old, ugly, and cruel!”

“You…” Huang Lili nearly jumped. Her face was contorted viciously.

“Let me ask you all. Where were you two families when Grandpa fell sick? Who paid for his hospital fees and medicine? How often have you returned to visit Grandpa?

“When Grandpa fell sick, none of you were contactable. None of you paid a cent while Mom has paid for all of Grandpa’s expenses. She had to dig into her savings to pay for Grandpa’s hospital fees. How about you?

“Now that Grandpa is almost gone, you come out of nowhere and demand your share of the inheritance. Don’t you know any shame?

“Are you… Are you even human?”

  Ma Fangfang yelled hysterically.

The front lawn descended into silence when everyone heard her voice.

Even the villagers outside fell silent.

However, Huang Lili started laughing. “Ha, little girl! You have a sharp tongue!

“But I think we all are clear about what the truth is! Your mother is so eager to please Father. Isn’t that because of money? You sound as though she’s so kind and filial, but she’s actually underhanded and cruel.

“It’s not that we don’t want to pay any of her medical fees, but your mother is so eager to pay for it anyway, we don’t have a say in it!

“Also, our families are different from yours. You are the only daughter, and you don’t need any money. We are different. I have two sons and they need money.

“If your family can afford it, then it’s natural that you should pay for it! What’s the problem?”

Second Aunt also stepped in. “That’s right. Our families have sons, and they inherit the family name and honor our ancestors. They are true-blooded Cai family members. The two of you are already not considered Cai family members, yet you still want a share of the inheritance? What a joke!”

The villagers started talking among each other. They regarded Cai Yourong and Ma Fangfang differently.

“You… how shameless!” Ma Fangfang gritted her teeth in anger.

“The truly shameless ones are you two. How dare you take away what should belong to our families?” Huang Lili smirked. “Let me tell you, Cai Yourong, it doesn’t matter if you agree to it or not. If you don’t agree, I’ll drive the two of you out of Cai Village today, and you won’t have a home to return to.”

Cai Yourong became more dejected than ever. She was almost giving up.

“Don’t agree to it, Mom. Even if they manage to overturn the will, the law says that you have the right to the inheritance. They’re lying to you, they only want you to agree to their unfair terms!

“Do they want to drive us away? Then we’ll leave. This village is full of ingrates anyway. There’s no point in staying here,” Ma Fangfang said indignantly.

“This… Sigh!” Cai Yourong sighed, “Let’s agree to it, Fangfang! I don’t want to be involved in this anymore.”

Huang Lili and the others were ecstatic when they heard that.

“Quick, get the lawyers over here! They won’t be able to go back on their promise once the contract is signed!”

The people excitedly called the lawyers over.

Suddenly, they heard stairs creaking in the house.

Chapter 339 - All of You, Get Lost Now

The people outside the house froze.

The sound of creaking stairs meant that someone was walking in the house, but… no one should be in the house! There was only Grandpa Shunde lying on the bed on the second floor.

Grandpa Shunde was close to death, so how was he able to walk?

“Did someone go into the house earlier?” Huang Lili asked, confused.

To her, someone must have either gone into the house, or there was a ghost in broad daylight!

“We’re all here!” Everyone was confused.

“Don’t tell me that the old codger is only pretending? Someone must’ve gone inside…”

Then, she prepared to go into the house.

However, everyone heard an elderly but angry voice from inside.

“Hmph! So you’re calling me an old codger behind my back. Are you all so eager for me to die? Do you want to drive my daughter away from Cai
Village too? You bastards are so brazen!”

Everyone was dumbfounded when they heard that voice.

Then, their faces turned pale. Some people even began to panic, as though they had seen a ghost.

That voice belonged to none other than Cai Shunde, the patriarch of the Cai family!

  How was that possible though?

Grandpa Shunde was already unconscious from his incurable disease, so how was he able to get off the bed and down the stairs?

Unless… he already died and his corpse was possessed?

Cai Youliang and the others were terrified because of their guilt.

They quickly retreated toward the gates, trembling.

  “Grandpa Shunde is possessed!”

The villagers shrieked in panic and stepped back.

“Bastards! All of you are bastards!”

They could hear the old man’s voice coming from behind the door.

They heard the thud of a walking stick, and an elderly figure walked out of the house. He was none other than Grandpa Shunde.

  “Father!”

Cai Yourong was stunned. She looked at him incredulously.

Next to her, Ma Fangfang also could not believe what she saw.

“I’ve heard everything earlier, Yourong. Sorry for bringing you so much trouble!” Grandpa Shunde said sorrowfully. Then, he straightened his brows and displayed a stern expression.

He pointed his walking stick at Cai Youliang and his gang.

“You two bastards, I regret giving birth to the two of you. And you too, all of you are ingrates. Especially you, Huang woman, you’re the most disgusting one of all.

“Have you bastards ever taken care of me? It’s always Yourong taking care of me. Every time I fall sick, it always feels as though I only have one daughter and no sons at all.
