Destroying Dominic (Genoa Mafia Series Book 3)

“This is Jasper. Jasper, this is Jackie. She’s a reporter at the Globe.”
“Oh yeah? I have a few stories to tell.” Jasper placed a hand on the table. “Let me buy you a drink and I’ll tell you a few.”
“Maybe next time. Thank you for the book, Miss Barclay. I look forward to reading the story and setting up an interview.” Jackie nodded to Jasper and walked off.
“Well, that was rude.” Jasper frowned.
“She’s a reporter. Probably a good thing you don’t tell her any of your stories,” Stephanie tried to console him.
“What’s up?” Dominic held one of her books in his hands.
“Jasper struck out with a hot redhead,” Stephanie teased.
“She wasn’t that hot.” Jasper pouted but his eyes kept following the one they talked about around the room. “Maybe I should give her another chance. Make her feel better.”
“You do that.” Dominic smirked and gave his friend a shove in her direction. Yes, they were friends now. They’d had him over a few times to eat and Stephanie encouraged them to go out for beers now and then when she needed time alone to write. “How’s it going?”
“It’s amazing. I can’t believe all these people showed up for this.” She smiled from ear to ear.
“Well, your dad’s been telling everyone in town about it. He’s very proud of you.”
“He’s making up for lost time and I’m so glad to have him here.” The man stood at the bar talking to Arlo. Arlo was the only one who didn’t look happy that night. Rumor was he’d been spending too much time with Layla, Madison’s sister, and their father sent him back to Genoa.
“Got enough ink in the pen to sign another one?” Dominic handed his copy of her book across the table.
“Anything for you.” She smiled.
“I hope so.” Dominic shoved his hands in his pocket and rocked back and forth.
“Uh, okay.” Stephanie opened the book he gave her and her heart stopped. It was already signed. By him. In bright red letters. It said, “Will you marry me?”
“Wow.” She was stunned.
“I hope that’s a yes. I had our names engraved on that wedding sword I made. It’d be a shame to waste it. It’s hanging on the wall at home right now.” The man wasn’t fond of talking yet he was rattling on and on.
Stephanie closed the book, stood up, and walked around to stand in front of him. “That story’s over with.” Stephanie cupped his jaw with one hand and nodded to the table piled high with books. “But this one is just getting started.”
“Is that a yes?” Dominic arched an eyebrow.
“A huge yes.” Suddenly, she was lifted off the ground and swung around.
Maddy and Valentina rushed to her side. “Is this what I think it is? Are you two engaged?”
“Yes.” Dominic finally set her on the ground so her friends could hug her.
Tears streamed down her face, so happy everyone was there, especially her new fiancé. “I finally have the happy ever after that I always wanted.”

Note From the Author…
I love to write stories that take place in my home state of Wisconsin. The inspiration for the setting of this story is the beautiful tourist town of Lake Geneva. I changed the name to Genoa for the story but forgot that there is a real town called Genoa in Wisconsin. Both are beautiful places to see, so if you ever travel to Wisconsin, make sure to visit both. I hope you enjoyed this Caponelli family story as there is more to come.
