“You don’t know me very well at all, Shawn.”
Milton shifted an inch to his left, pressing his cheek closer against the rifle.
“You want to settle this?” Drake said. “Tell me where you are. I’ll come to you.”
Milton ignored the offer. “You’re all on your own now.”
“How do you work that out?”
“Rodrigues is dead.”
“So I heard. I underestimated you.”
“And Sophia’s gone.”
“Yeah? You speak to her?”
“Didn’t need to. I watched her pack up and leave. Just like you’re doing now.”
The scope was powerful. Milton could see Drake’s horrified reaction as he realised the danger he was in.
Too late.
Milton emptied his lungs with a long, even breath and squeezed the trigger.
