  “Sounds good to me.”

They climbed onto the bike, Hunter handing Sarah her helmet. She put it on before wrapping her slender arms around his midsection. Just like last night, Hunter could feel her breasts pressing against him. He knew it was going to take some serious resistance not to give in to what he wanted.

Hunter pulled the bike out of the garage and they were off. He drove east, and after a time, the dense buildings of the city gave way to the towns of Long Island. They said nothing to one another as they drove, but Sarah’s arms remained tightly wrapped around Hunter. He felt like he could drive forever like that, her arms around him, her tits against his wide back.

This shit about alphas and omegas, he thought as they drew closer to the Hamptons. It’s no fucking joke.

Soon they reached the enormous estates of the Hamptons. Hunter wasn’t a fan of rich types, even though he had more than enough money to be considered one. He was more interested in the beach. Eventually, he arrived at one of his favorites, a private spot that he didn’t mind trespassing in. He parked and killed the engine, the soft sounds of the ocean carried on the breeze.

“Wow,” said Sarah, stepping off the bike. “It’s beautiful.”

The sun was beginning to set, the sky brilliant with oranges and purples. Together, the two of them made their way down to the sand. Hunter laid out a towel, and they both sat as he opened up his bag and pulled out a couple of beers.

“Cheers,” he said, handing one over.

She took it. “What are we drinking to?”

He laughed. “How about you not being locked up in Brandt’s penthouse?”

“I’ll drink to that,” she said. “I think.”

They tapped their bottles and sipped.

“OK,” said Sarah. “If you’re going to be my kidnapper, I want to know more about you.”

“About me?” he asked. “What do you care about that?”

“Call it curiosity,” she said. “How did you end up in New York? Let’s start there.”

He shook his head. “You got any idea how hard it is to explain a dragon’s life to a human? Not fucking easy.”

“I gave you a good place to start.”

“I ‘spose you did.” Hunter sipped his beer. “My brothers and me. We...had a rough childhood. We started off in Los Angeles, our parents two of the most powerful dragons on the West Coast. We were the Thorne clan, and no one could touch us. And me and Adrian and Jack, when we were kids—”

“And how long ago was this?”

“Fucking hell,” said Hunter. “Hundred years ago, easy. Me and the bros are still kid dragons in some ways—our kind can live for centuries.”

“Wow,” said Sarah, clearly impressed. “Go on.”

Hunter couldn’t believe himself. He’d been with scores of women, and all of them had tried to get him to open up. He never did. But with Sarah, it was different. Something about her made him want to pour his guts out, let down his barriers.

“Anyway, we thought we were untouchable, Los Angeles royalty. But it turns out that when you’re on top, you’ve got a big bullseye flashing on you twenty-four seven.”

He grit his teeth, preparing himself for what came next.

“My parents were killed. Fuckin’ assassination. A few of the other dragon clans had gotten together, planned the whole thing. Killed my parents, and then they came for my brothers and me. But an allied clan in New York reached out to us, gave us a place to hide out until it all blew over.”

“I’m...sorry,” said Sarah. “I lost my parents too. Car accident when I was five.”

“Fuck,” said Hunter. “It never gets easier, does it?”

“No,” said Sarah. “That’s how I ended up getting into crime in the first place. I went from foster home to foster home, and when I was eighteen, I was out on the streets.”

“Shit,” said Hunter. “I thought I had it rough.”

“I met Carter when I was nineteen. This cool, older guy who I thought had it all figured out. And he liked me. He started me out doing odd jobs here and there for his gang, and before I knew it, I was stuck in that life.”

  “What’d you do?”

“One night a week or so ago, he got a little too drunk again and took it out on me. He screamed at me about some job I’d done, saying I was a fuck up.”

Hunter’s blood boiled at the thought of any man treating Sarah that way.

“And he threw a punch. Didn’t hit me but put a pretty damn big hole in the wall right next to my face. That’s when I decided I was done. Got what little money I had and left for New York.”

Hunter had a hard time saying anything. All he could think about was taking apart piece by piece any prick who dared try to lay a finger on Sarah.

“But you got sucked right back into it,” said Hunter.

“Yeah,” said Sarah. “This time with dragons. Just when I thought my life couldn’t get any stranger.”

Without thinking, Hunter reached over and took Sarah’s hand. He surprised himself doing this, and even more surprising was that she squeezed his hand right back.

They turned and looked into each other’s eyes. As he focused on her gaze, Hunter realized there was no escaping the pull of an omega. She was beautiful; she was strong. And she was meant for him.

He leaned forward, and Sarah did the same. She closed her eyes and prepared for his kiss.

But before their lips could touch, Hunter felt the presence of someone else. Or several someones. He quickly turned and was greeted by the sight of three men, all dressed in dark suits, sneers on their faces.

“There’s our man,” said the one in the middle. “And there’s our girl.”

“Who the fuck are you?” growled Hunter.

The men looked at one another before turning back to Hunter.

“Brandt sends his regards,” said the man on the right. “And we can’t wait to bring him your head.”

  CHAPTER 14

  SARAH

Sarah let out a scream as the men approached. Hunter whipped his head around, his eyes glowing a deep red.

  “Sarah! Stay the fuck back!”

He didn’t need to tell her twice. Sarah rose and hurried away towards the shore, the three men all regarding her with the same expression of intensity, smirks on all of their faces. They were Brandt’s men, and they’d come for her.

And more than that, they outnumbered Hunter three-to-one.

“All right, motherfuckers,” said Hunter. “You’re gonna get one warning—turn our sorry asses around and go back to wherever the fuck you came from or die right here and now.”

The man in the middle grinned. “Pretty confident for someone in your position.”

Hunter was fearless. “Far as I can tell, you assholes are the ones in the bad position. That was your only fucking warning. You gonna do the smart thing and take it?”

The men said nothing, each of them closing their eyes at the same time. This was their answer, and Sarah knew what would come next. Each of the men shifted, all taking the forms of dragons with oak-brown scales. They were smaller than Adrian’s dragon form, and the thought occurred to her that they might be less powerful. But there were still three of them, and she knew that in a fight, she’d be useless.

Hunter shifted next, changing into a massive red dragon. His sized dwarfed the other three, and Sarah could sense his power as if it were in the air.

The four dragons stood still, plumes of smoke puffing from their nostrils. Sarah held her breath, waiting for one to make the first move.

Hunter stepped forward, his huge claw kicking up sand. The three dragons jumped back, clearly startled by the huge dragon’s quick movement. Hunter took advantage of the confusion, rushing towards the leftmost dragon and leaping onto him.

The smaller dragon let out a roar, his claws flying through the air. One of them managed to connect with Hunter, cutting a deep groove into his fire-red scales. But if Hunter was in pain, he didn’t show it. Instead, he pinned the dragon down by his
chest, leaned down, and let out a massive jet of fire directly into the brown dragons’ face. His body went still, his head charred ink black.

Sarah was in awe of Hunter’s power. She knew little about dragons, but there was no doubt in her mind that he was one to be feared. The other two brown dragons stepped back, realizing that their number advantage had been reduced. Sarah’s heart pounded—the fight was far from over.

The middle dragon turned towards the other remaining brown and raised his claw towards Sarah, letting out a roar. The other dragon turned toward Sarah, and she knew what this meant—he was coming for her.

Hunter seemed to realize this and rushed towards the middle dragon. The two grappled fiercely, but Sarah didn’t have time to watch the fight. The other dragon hurried toward her, the ground shaking as it ran.

“Get the hell away from me!” she screamed. But the dragon continued to cut the distance between them, and soon he was right on top of her.

Sarah knew her life was in his hands. The dragon leaned down until his face was mere feet from hers. His reptilian mouth formed into a tight smile, hot breath engulfing her. He had her right where he wanted her.

She raised her palm as if to block him. “I said, get the fuck away from me!” She swept her hand in front of her face.

Sarah couldn’t believe what happened next. As if pushed by some kind of invisible force, the dragon stumbled backward. Sarah rose to her feet, looking down at her hand. Whatever she’d done, the dragon had been hurt.

“Get away!” She swept her hand again, the air moving in front of her. Another invisible force pushed the dragon back even further.

She was now able to see the fight again, just in time to watch Hunter sink his teeth into the other dragon’s neck and bring him to the ground. Sarah swiped again, pushing the dragon even further back. This time, Hunter noticed. And he acted.

The red dragon rose into the air with a bat of his wings, flying fast and landing on the last dragon, grabbing him from behind. Hunter opened his mouth and let out another plume of fire, this time totally engulfing the dragon in flames. He roasted and fell.

The three dragons were dead. Hunter quickly shifted back to his human form and hurried over to Sarah, clapping his hands down on her shoulders.

  “Are you OK?” he asked.

“I’m...I’m fine.” She glanced down, seeing that the cut from Hunter’s dragon form had remained. A deep gash cut through his chest, blood seeping into his shirt. “But you’re not.”

“Don’t fucking worry about me. We need to get the hell out of here, right now!”

  “But—”

“I said, don’t fucking worry about me! Come on!”

Hunter didn’t give Sarah a chance to respond. He took off past the bodies, towards the motorcycle. Sarah had no choice but to follow him. They were soon on the back of the bike and off.

The drive back was as different as could be from the drive there. Sarah’s arms were wrapped around Hunter, but now they were applying pressure on his wound. His blood was hot and sticky on her skin.

They soon reached Queens, then Hunter’s apartment. He pulled open the door and shut it hard as soon as they were inside.

“Fuck...fucking hell,” said Hunter. His already fair skin was a lighter shade of white.

“Do you have any medical supplies here?” asked Sarah. “I’m no doctor, but I picked up some stuff taking care of stabs and gunshots for Carter’s crew.”

He let out a wry chuckle. “Figures. Yeah, I’ve got some shit in the bathroom. Under the sink.”

Sarah didn’t waste a second. She hurried up the stairs and into the bathroom. Beneath the sink was a medical kit. She grabbed it and rushed back down to Hunter.

“Take off your shirt,” she said.

“Bossy girl,” he said with a grin.

“I’d hit you for that,” she said as she opened the kit. “But you being a wiseass means you’re not about to die.”

  “At least that’s something.”

  “Now, the shirt.”

Without another word, Hunter grabbed his shirt by the hem and lifted it off his body. Despite the blood, Sarah still found herself swallowing out of nervousness at the sight of his bare upper body. The man was sculpted like a god.

Sarah dabbed a cloth with the contents of a nearby bottle of vodka and rubbed it on the cut.

“Ah, shit,” hissed Hunter. “Fucking burns.”

“Don’t be a baby,” she said with a small smile.

“I’ll be a baby if I want to. Figure I’ve earned it after wasting three dragons.”

“Thanks for that, by the way,” she said as she cleaned the blood from the wound.

“My fuckin’ pleasure. Save you, take out a few of Brandt’s goons in the process. What’s not to like?”

Sarah smiled again as she finished cleaning the blood. “Looks like it’s not too deep. Just a flesh wound, as they say.”

“Stings like a bitch, though. But good to hear it ain’t shit.” An expression of focus appeared on Hunter’s face. “Wait a sec, that shit you pulled back at the beach. How’d you do that?”

Sarah had almost forgotten what she’d done. “I...don’t know. I just moved my hand through the air and some...force or something pushed the dragon back.”

Hunter’s eyes went wide. “Fuck, I know what it is—your omega powers. You can’t shift like us, but you can do...I dunno, other things.”

  “Like read minds?”

“Human minds,” he said. “No omega’s ever been able to read the minds of a shifter, let alone a dragon. But yeah, moving things without touching them, that’s omega power.”

  “Am I...going to get more?”

  “Probably. How old are you?”

  “Twenty-three.”

“Guessing you were around twenty-one when you started to be able to read minds.”

  “That’s right.”

Hunter nodded. “That’s about when they start. But being able to move things with your mind...that’s rare as shit.”

Sarah didn’t know what to make of all this information. At that moment, she was distracted by so much, not the least of which being Hunter’s body. She continued to clean him, and despite the context, she found herself growing more aroused by the second. Adrenaline coursed through her body, and her fingertips seemed to crackle with electricity every time she touched him.

After the blood was cleaned off, she applied a large, white bandage to his wound.

“There,” she said. “Good as new.”

Hunter narrowed his eyes at her, a small smile forming on his lips. Before Sarah could react, he slipped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his lap. Sarah’s heart raced. She knew he shouldn’t be touching her like that, but she couldn’t resist.

“Now,” he said. “I want to give my little nurse a proper ‘thank you.’”

Without thinking, Sarah placed her hand on one of his solid, square pecs. Her chest rose and fell at his nearness, at his touch.

She knew there was no resisting this alpha. And with each passing second, she knew she didn’t want to.

Hunter gave her what she was craving. He ran his hand through the back of her hair and pulled her in close, kissing her slowly, deeply. Just how she wanted.

  CHAPTER 15

  SARAH

She knew it was a bad idea. But just like with Adrian, she couldn’t resist. She wanted Hunter, and with his hands all over her, she knew there was no denying how she felt.

Hunter kissed her deeply, their tongues flicking together and his rich, musky taste filling her mouth. His hands stayed on her hips, rubbing her curves. She sighed through the kiss, a sense of satisfaction running through her that she could hardly understand.

But she knew there was only one thing that would truly satisfy her. Sarah reached down and took hold of Hunter’s cock through his jeans. He was hard as steel, and as she moved her hand along his length, she felt her pussy soak through her panties.

“Damn, girl,” he growled, his voice lo
w and sexual. “You’re not fuckin’ around.”

  “Wasn’t planning on it.”

She felt him grin through the kiss. “I’m gonna tell you what I want.”

  “Let’s hear it.”

“I want those luscious fuckin’ thighs wrapped around my head. I want to bury my face in your pussy and eat you like you’ve never been eaten before. And I want to feel you cum on my mouth while I lick your clit.”

Sarah’s eyes went wide. But she realized she shouldn’t have been surprised to hear a man like Hunter talk to her like that. And more to her surprise, it turned her on like crazy.

“Then quit talking about it and do it,” she said.

He laughed. “Gotta love a woman who knows what she wants.”

They continued to kiss, Hunter pulling Sarah’s shirt over her head and exposing her blue lace bra.

“Been thinking about fuckin’ the hell out of you from the moment I saw you,” said Hunter as he reached around and unclasped her bra. Once it was undone, he slipped it off, Sarah’s breasts falling out, her pink nipples already stiff.

Hunter leaned in and brought one of them into his mouth, sucking while lashing it with his tongue. Sarah moaned, his beard bristling against her skin. She worked the zipper and button of his jeans, pulling the pants down as quickly as she could. Underneath, Hunter wore a pair of jet-black boxer-briefs, his cock straining against the fabric.

He returned the favor, slipping off Sarah’s jeans. Her matching blue thong was soaked through, the material dark with wetness in front of her cunt. At the same time, the two of them reached into each other’s underwear, Sarah’s hand wrapping around Hunter’s cock, his finger’s slipping into her pussy.

He fingered her furiously, moving in and out of her and bringing Sarah closer and closer to orgasm by the second. But true to his word, Hunter wasn’t satisfied with making her cum with his fingers. He picked her up by her hips and brought her over to the couch, grinning broadly as he made his way down between her legs.

“Bet you taste like fucking heaven,” he said once he was close to her pussy.

  “Find out.”
