Well, let me start by introducing myself. I’m Opal. And I’m not just a collection of thoughts that Adelle’s mind spontaneously generates, or creates under various circumstances. I’m a separate feature; a spirit that has been banished here on Earth. I’m using this contest to transfer into a physical body, one which I can control, and won’t have to share with Adelle.
She and I met when Adelle was just a child, at the age of four. She knows when we first met, but doesn’t associate that moment when I presented myself to her, as it relates to our introduction.
Drawing Charlie close has been an eight-year project for Adelle and me. During flight training together, Charlie had issues keeping him from giving in to us wholeheartedly.
One of those major roadblocks was his ex-wife, Becky. Having to meet with her regularly, so they could exchange custody of their 8 year old daughter Morgan, was a conflicting situation. Adelle and I thought it over for a while, questioning how we were going to make Becky’s death appear accidental. Charlie and Adelle would have to be deployed when it happened, to avoid speculation that the two may have had a direct involvement into Becky’s death. But that leads to another problem. Then Morgan would have more time to spend with Daddy when he’s back home. That’s the other distraction which needed to be resolved.
The transitional stage went very well. Sure, Charlie may carry emotional scars from the loss of two close family members. But Adelle continues to fill that emptiness in their absence. And because of it he grows closer to her. He seems to have buried their memories along with them, and dedicates his focus on our future together, which is necessary, because right now we need him in tune to what we expect of him.
One thing I can’t get past…is when his constant love and affection gets me agitated. When he tries forcing his love on me, and I’m with my thoughts, the stomach Adelle and I share feels nervous. My temperament becomes short, and the skin of our body crawls from wanting him away from us. But you can’t go through life on your own. There comes a time when you need an assistant. I do look forward to the day when he’s finally gone for good.
