  “P-pregnant?”

  I nodded.

“I took a test the day we were taken. I know it’s not the right time…”

He didn’t let me finish, capturing my lips with his and drowning out anything else I was going to say. I melted against him, clinging to him as he kissed me over and over, wiping away weeks of no contact other than sex in an instant. Everything was going to be okay. I could feel it in my bones.

Jaxon finally pulled back, pressing his forehead to mine.

  “A kid? Really?”

“Yeah,” I laughed, breathing him in. “I couldn’t believe it either.”

“Shit,” he said softly, a chuckle in his voice. “I guess we can’t start over then.”

I smiled, knowing what he was saying. Our lives were forever entwined now, and we would have to figure out it as we went along.

“Are you… I mean, is this okay?”

He pulled back and I saw tenderness in his eyes, something I hadn’t seen before.

  It took my breath away.

“Yeah,” he finally said, pulling me close. “This is more than okay. Hell, the Morrison boys must have some good swimmers.”

  Chapter 20

  Jaxon

  Two Months Later

I gazed down at the small baby in the carrier, wrinkling my nose.

“Damn, man, they are so small. How the hell do you not lose them?”

Brendan chuckled as he touched his son’s downy cheek.

  “Dude are you serious?”

  I shrugged.

“I mean, aren’t you scared to fucking death now that he’s home?”

“Yeah I am,” Brendan replied with a sigh. “Laura tells me not to worry, but I already bought one of those expensive ass cameras that will watch his breathing and shit. I mean, how do people get through this?”

I laughed and slapped my brother on his back.

“You’ve been shot twice and survived. I’m sure you can figure this out.”

We stood in the kitchen, on baby duty, while the Faye helped Laura get settled in the bedroom. Matthew Jonah Morrison had appeared a month early, and though he was small they had gotten to bring him home. Brendan was also still recovering, though I was starting to see more of my brother with each passing day. While he would always bear the scars of his near-death experience, I knew that my family was safe.

  Including Faye.

“You know that this will be you in seven months or so,” Brendan remarked as he walked over to the fridge, grabbing a couple of beers before handing me one. “You think you got your shit together right now? Just wait until they give you a baby to bring home.”

I popped the top and clinked the can with his before taking a long drawl. I wasn’t going to admit it to him, but I was scared shitless at the thought of having a kid. I had no idea how to hold it, much less help raise him or her into a functioning adult.

“That’s what Faye is for. To make sure I don’t screw it up.”

  Brendan laughed.

“You got that right. At least Colby has to go next.”

I thought about our brother and his wife in Florida, who was due in the next few months herself.

“Maybe he can give me some pointers.”

“Hell, I can give you better ones,” Brendan said with a frown. “What’s wrong with mine?”

“You’re drinking in front of the kid,” I said, arching my brow. “That’s what’s wrong.”

Brendan leaned into the carrier, a soft smile on his face.

“You are looking at the next President of the Reapers there. By the time he gets old enough, it will be the biggest club on the west coast.”

I grinned. These days the club was good, growing steadily now that the Eagles had been dissolved. While Brendan had tried to keep the Eagles going, Moose had decided that he would rather join the two clubs together to ensure that there would never be another war in Alaska. Now the numbers had doubled in size, and, since I was still groveling to Faye, I had relinquished my rights as vice president to the former Eagle.

Besides, he had more time than I did. We were in the midst of renovating the cabin where it all started, attempting to make it baby-friendly. Every day I woke up I couldn’t believe that I was no longer a bachelor, but a man in love with his soon-to-be fiancée.

That is, if I could drum up enough courage to ask her. Hell, I carried the ring around every day, waiting for the right moment.

“Alright,” Faye announced as she entered the kitchen. “Laura is all good. Says it’s time for feeding.”

  Brendan grabbed the carrier carefully.

“I guess I should take the little man in there then. See you later.”

I watched as he left, before grabbing Faye by the waist, pulling her against me.

  “You ready to go?”

“Yes,” she breathed, placing a kiss on my lips. “Let’s go home.”

Together we walked out to the truck, and I helped her in, my palms starting to sweat as I climbed inside as well. I really needed to ask her before I chickened out again, but… in the truck? What the fuck was romantic about that?

So, I waited until we were home, walking in the cabin as the sun started to set in the distance.

“What do you want for supper?” she asked.

I cringed. Faye was attempting to cook, devouring cook books in search of good meals. So far, everything she had cooked had either been runny or burnt.

  “Pizza?”

  She eyed me.

  “You don’t like my cooking.”

“It’s not that babe,” I said, walking over to her. “I just want us to celebrate.”

  “Celebrate what?” she asked.

I grinned as I got down on one knee, seeing the surprise in her eyes.

  “Our engagement.”

“Jax,” she breathed, as I reached into my pocket and pulled out the ring.

“Faye, I love you more than anything on this damn earth, and I can’t imagine not having you in my life. Will you marry me?”

“Y-yes!” she said, pulling at me.

I stood and slid the ring on her trembling finger before gathering her close, pressing a kiss into her hair. I’d had no doubts she would say yes, and now I wondered why I had waited so long.

“Oh my god,” she breathed, looking at the ring. “Are you sure about this?”

“Yes,” I said with a laugh, pressing a kiss on her lips. “More than sure. Just don’t make me wear a damn tux, and we will be just fine.”

She laughed, and I felt my chest tighten at the sparkle in her eyes. Her body was starting to change with the pregnancy and so were her hormones. Hell, she wore me out in the bedroom.

  I fucking loved it.

Faye’s hand slid down the front of my shirt, and I felt my cock harden as I saw the look on her face.

“Care to make this official?” she asked saucily as her hand cupped the front of my jeans.

“If I must,” I said jokingly, reaching for the front of her jeans. “How would you like it, the future Mrs. Morrison?”

“Oh, I like that,” she breathed, tugging on my jeans. “Hard and fast please.”

I tugged her jeans down over her legs, and she stepped out of them, watching as I removed my pants as well. My cock jutted out from my body as I raked my eyes over her body, seeing the subtle swell of her stomach that housed our kid. God, I was a lucky, lucky man.

“Come here, future husband,” she said, pulling me toward her.

I went willingly, capturing her lips with mine as we backed up against the couch, my hands on her growing breasts. She moaned in my mouth as her hands reached for my cock, stroking it expertly. I wandered a hand down the front of her body, pausing ever so quickly over her stomach before sliding between her legs, finding her already soaking wet and ready for me. Faye gasped as I found her hard clit and rubbed her to an orgasm, shattering in my arms.

  Damn, I was good.

  “Now,” sh
e said urgently, grabbing at me. “Now, Jax.”

I grinned and picked her up, carrying her to the couch and laying her on it before sliding deep inside her.

  “Like this?”

“Yes,” she groaned, her fingers clawing at my back. “God, don’t stop. Right there.”

  I did as she instructed.

After all, isn’t that always the right way to do it?
