“I know,” Tom replied. “Listen, I better go.”
“And I. I would suggest you change my display, if that partner of is getting suspicious. What does it even stand for anyway? F for Father or F for Thomas Frost?”
“Either. I’ll change it though. Love you, Dad.”
The phone went dead as Thomas Frost hung up.
Tom sighed and put the mobile back in his pocket. One day, he thought, one day, he’d say it back.
He turned to walk back to the house, but he had barely begun to move when a large heavy object came flying down at his head.
The loud thud echoed dully around the otherwise silent street as Tom was struck and immediately sank to the ground. With his head throbbing in pain, he tried to look up and see who his attacker was, but they were already running down the street.
As Tom’s eyes closed, he felt the blood from the wound on the otherwise dry ground. Then, everything went black. He remained still on the ground, illuminated only by the moon that was shining bright above him.
