It’s been two weeks since Doctor Connors let me leave the hospital against her recommendation. In those two weeks, a lot has happened with not just me but the club.

When I woke up the morning after coming home, Jerod was already gone, although he left me a sweet note on his pillow letting me know how beautiful he thought I was when I was sleeping in his arms, and that he would see me later.

Later that day, when he returned, he didn’t look too happy. He pulled me into his arms, kissing me hard before locking himself and the rest of the members in the room where they held church for hours. The moment they all came out of the room, you could feel the tension fill the room. No one spoke as they made their way to the bar.

Seeing that Jerod hadn’t come back out, I went to look for him, finding him sitting at the massive wooden table I’ve only seen once with his head tilted back and eyes closed. Knocking on the door to gain his attention, I wait for him to say it’s okay to come to him.

“Come here, baby,” he says not bothering to open his eyes.

“What’s going on?” I ask moving to sit on his lap.

“Club business, Izzy. I can’t tell you anything other than we’re all going on lockdown. Unless you have a doctor’s appointment, you won’t be leaving this clubhouse. That means no going outside, period. I don’t want shit to happen like last time when you decided to go get some fresh air by yourself. You need to do that then you fuckin’ come to me or one of the brothers and we will see what we can do then. Got me?” Ouch, I knew he would be bringing that up sooner or later. I don’t intend on going against him when it comes to my safety again.

“I promise, I won’t go outside without you, Jerod,” I whisper.

“Good, now hop up, I wanna show you something. Normally, we don’t let women in here, but the brothers agree that you need this,” Jerod says taking my hand and pulling me out the back door toward the shed I know is off limits.

The moment I step through the doors, I gasp at the sight in front of me. Against the back wall is none other than Logan. I’d wondered what happened to her and whether or not I’d get the chance to beat the hell out of her. Now I know.

“I planned to wait for this until after your cast came off, but I know she fucked with your head even though you don’t admit it to yourself, baby. This is for you to get it out of your system, and this is the only time you will be in this room. Do whatever you want to now,” Jerod says squeezing my hip. “After you’re done in here, we’re putting all the past shit behind us, your parents, Terrance, all of it. Now, have fun, baby.”

I don’t know what to say to him right now. Doing the only other thing I can to show him my appreciation, I lean up, giving him a kiss.

Turning back to the woman who drugged me, I move to where she’s sitting. “Why?” I simply ask. When she doesn’t answer, I kick her in the legs. “Why the fuck did you drug me?” Screaming, I kick her again. At her smirk, I use my good hand to slap her with enough force to send her head sideways. “Answer me, bitch.”

“Why should I answer you? You’re going to kill me anyways, cousin,” she laughs at the astonishment on my face. “What, you didn’t know?”

“I don’t have any cousins. Neither of my parents has any siblings.”

“Oh, that’s priceless, Elizabeth.” I gasp at the use of my real name. No one calls me that ever, aside from Jerod and a few others. After moving, I had it legally changed to Izzy. “Yeah, I know your real name, wanna know how? Because your mom was my dad’s sister and your man over there killed her right here in front of me. Just wait until my dad finds out what you all have done.” She continues to rant about how her dad would come for her. We would all be dead soon.

Questions run through my head at everything she just said. Looking back at Jerod, he nods his head, confirming my unspoken questions. Logan is speaking the truth. She is my cousin; anger consumes me with the knowledge my own fuckin’ cousin drugged me, and then proceeded to touch me while informing me of what she wanted to do to me. That’s not family. If I truly admit to myself, I didn’t know what a real family was until the Devil’s Riot MC. Yeah, I had my brother and he will forever be my family no matter where he is. But the rest of them, fuck them. They can rot in the pits of hell.

I don’t speak another word to the bitch as I turn to my man. “Can I please have my gun?” I ask nicely.

“No, you can use this one, your name isn’t connected to it,” he says pulling a gun out from under his cut. Taking the gun out of his hand, I notice it’s the same as the one I’d bought. Looking up at him, frowning at the smirk he’s giving me. “What, I figured I’d have one on hand in case you ever needed it. I don’t want you killing someone and it comes back to you. This way, it’s not.” He shrugs like it’s no big deal.

Smiling, I turn back to the pathetic excuse of a woman, pointing the gun at her head. I don’t even blink when I pull the trigger. Turning back around, I hand him the gun.

“I love you, Jerod, now take me to bed. I want to get to work on starting a family with you. No more waiting,” I say, wrapping my arms around his neck.

Jerod throws the gun on a table behind him before wrapping his arms around me and lifting me up. I wrap my legs around his waist as he carries me out of the shed and into the clubhouse to our room, where he continues to make love to me the rest of the evening, into the night.

The next morning after waking up, I told Jerod that we needed to go to the grocery store to stock up since we would be on lockdown until further notice. After getting dressed, he took me to the store followed by several other members of the club. I don’t know what’s going on that’s club business, but I trust that if I need to have so many guys with me, I’ll take it.

While in the store we ran into my counselor Sarah. She took notice of Jerod and instantly started flirting with him, ignoring the fact I was standing next to him. The bitch didn’t even take the hint when my man moved back a step.

“Bitch, back the fuck off. Do you not see that my ol’ man doesn’t want you?” Finally having enough of this shit, I step in front of Jerod.

“Oh, Izzy, I didn’t see you there. You’ve missed the last several sessions, so I assumed you moved or something,” Sarah says sweetly.

“Or something is right. Just be prepared to hear from my lawyer for your ethics as a counselor. You don’t deserve to help people if you speak to them as you spoke to me, on top of trying to make me feel inferior to my own family, and having them walk on eggshells around me like I’m crazy for what I tried to do. I needed help and you did nothing but make things worse. What? So you could convince my man to leave me?” I say quietly, not trying to start a scene in the middle of the grocery store. That’s the last thing I need in a small town like this.

“I did no such thing, Izzy, and if you felt they were walking on eggshells around you then maybe you need to be put on meds to help with anxiety.”

“That’s enough, bitch, I won’t have you talking shit to my fiancée. The only one that needs help here is you. You took advantage of a woman who was seeking help so you could try to fuck her man. You’re nothing but a stupid, dumbass, cunt if you think I’d go for anyone’s pussy but my woman’s,” Jerod’s growls out interrupting Sarah. I can’t help the giggle that comes out at his words. “Let’s go, babe, we can get what we have now and send the prospects for the rest later if we need to.” He takes my hand as he guides the cart with his other hand.

“Okay, Twist, I think, for now, I might need to go shopping over in Holland. The stench of skank is all over this place,” I say loud enough for Sarah to hear me, causing Jerod to chuckle.

Life couldn’t be more perfect than it is right now. I’ll take on the whatever comes my way, no matter what. I’ve survived drowning in the depths of grief and pain, all thanks to my man— Jerod, my Twister. He’s the reason I’ll always be a survivor. I’m stronger, more now than ever, because of him, and I can’t wait to start our family.

Dragons Fire MC have declared war on us. The funny thing is it didn’t even start over Ratchet’s sister or even his daughter’s death. Hell, the other prez didn’t even ask for their bodies back. No, what he’s declared war over is the docks I refuse to share with him in order for him to transport women. I believe it’s not just about women. I think it's more or less they want us out of the way period.

They attempted to hit several of the brothers on the last run we made to pick up the shipment of guns. No one was badly hurt this time. However, next time may be another story.

Sitting at my desk, I’m trying to figure out a plan. We can’t stay on lockdown forever. A knock on the door to my office draws me from my thoughts.

“Come in,” I call out. When the door opens, Rage comes in looking pissed. “Hey, man. What’s up?”

“Prez, I need to go to Stoney’s charter for a few days. Mom called and told me about some shit I need to go sort out,” Rage says.

“Not a problem, take Hades and Burner with you. I don’t want anyone riding by themselves until the shit with the Dragons Fire MC is taken care of,” I tell him. Rage gives me a stiff nod before moving toward the door. “Brother, you okay?” I call out to him before he opens the door.

“Yeah Prez, nothing I can’t handle. I’m going to get my woman. I shouldn’t have let her leave in the first place,” he says grimly.

“Rage, man, you can’t blame yourself for letting her go. She needed time away from here, from this place. You go get her, bring her home, and show her just how much she means to you. Don’t let all the shit from the past stop either of you. She’s not your sister. Cleo is stronger than you think. She’s a survivor, you just have to show her what she can’t see for herself yet,” I tell him as I stand, moving around the desk to him.

“Thank Prez, I’ll be back in a few days with Cleo.” With that, he walks out of the room making his way toward the bar to tell Burner and Hades what the plan is. I’ll wait until they get back and lift the lockdown from the club. If nothing happens while they’re gone, we’ll go from lockdown to keeping watch on everyone. Life goes on even in the middle of a war.

Speaking of life, I make my way to my room finding Izzy coming out of the bathroom looking down at something in her hands.

“Hey baby, what do you have there?” I ask looking at her with a knowing look.

“You knocked me up, Jerod,” Izzy says smiling showing me the stick reading positive.

“Fuck yeah, babe.” Smiling, I pull her into my arms. “Now, you’re mine forever,” I say against her lips, kissing her gently.

“I was always yours. Thank you for saving me that night from myself,” she whispers when I pull back.

“I’d do anything for you,” I say. Kneeling in front of her, I lift her shirt and place a kiss where my baby is. “I can’t wait to meet you; I’ll love you until my last breath as I do your momma,” I whisper against her belly, placing a kiss right in the center.

“I love you too, now when are you going to marry me?” Giggling, she kneels down with me.

“Baby, I told you to name the time and date, I’ll be there.” I give her a stern look.

“Well, big boy, you better be prepared to marry me tomorrow. I don’t want to wait another day to be your wife.”

“My wife, I like the ring of that,” I say leaning over her. I strip her clothes off and show her just how much I love the sound of it.

My wife. My ol’ lady. My Izzy. Mine always, now and forever.
