The Psionics Guild Page 5

Cai stood and bowed. “Thank you, Guildmaster. We will await your decision.” He paused then added, “Our marriage was legal, Guildmaster, we both consented to it, and it was a well-witnessed event.”

“I’m aware of that already,” Ashad said before he swept out of the room.

Nick came back in when the guildmaster left and sat beside Cai. “Well?”

“In a day, we’ll know,” Cai replied.

  “Know what?”

“If I am still an Astrogator.”

“Why wouldn’t you be?” Nick’s tone was shocked until Cai told him what the guildmaster had said. Then, he pulled Cai into his arms and held him. “If you’re cashiered, I’ll resign my commission. Just think, we could live on my family lands, in the mountains. I could work as an ecologist—that was my original major, before the Academy.”

“That’s a nice dream.” With his eyes closed and his mind in tune with Nick’s, Cai could see the land Nick spoke of. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Perhaps it wouldn’t be too bad to be removed from his position, but he’d always miss the stars.

  * * * *

Midafternoon and Cai was fretting himself into a nervous frenzy awaiting Ashad’s call. Nick did what he could to calm him, but nothing worked until he dragged Cai into the bedroom. Cai’s lovemaking had a urgency to it that Nick accepted. He knew how much Cai loved to fly, and so, he knew what Cai was offering in sacrifice to keep him. It was truly humbling to him to think that Cai would give up being an Astrogator to stay with him.

He put his love and his passion for Cai into every stroke and caress, every lingering kiss, and Cai responded to him with an equal outpouring of love that left him breathless. They sank into the bliss of loving one another and came out the other side even closer than before. Nick lay sprawled on his back with Cai atop him, and he stroked Cai’s soft skin as the Gator rested in their post-climatic haze.

That’s when the bell chimed, indicating an incoming call. Cai murmured, “It’s Questral.”

“Take it in here,” Nick suggested.

Cai shook his head and slid off the bed. He donned a silken robe as he padded out into his main living area. After a moment, Nick followed, putting his own robe on out of a sudden sense of modesty. Cai had just reached the console when Nick emerged. “Questral, this is Cai.”

“Astrogator, Guildmaster Ashad will meet with you in one hour if that is acceptable to you.”

“That is acceptable. One hour. Thank you.” Cai closed the connection. “Just enough time to shower, shave and dress.”

An hour later, Nick and Cai stood to greet Guildmaster Ashad as the man walked back into their conference room. This time, two other men accompanied them, and Nick looked at them worriedly. Were they there to remove Cai? Would Cai survive the removal? He knew Laughing Owl wouldn’t, but that was a minor issue at this point.

“Greetings, Guildmaster,” Cai said politely. “Have you reached your decision?”

“I have,” Ashad replied. He glanced from Nick to Cai and stopped torturing them. “I have decided to uphold your marriage. It was, as you said, legal, but more importantly, you both meant your vows. You, Astrogator, were willing to give up the stars for your captain. You, Captain, were willing to give up your life for your Astrogator, as you proved on Hevetich when you refused to give yourself to Perad. I commend you both and wish you both the best of fortune and what happiness can be found in this universe.”

Nick closed his eyes as a wave of relief washed over him, and he almost smiled as he realized much of what he felt wasn’t from himself but from Cai. That helped him calm down, and though he wanted to dance for joy, all he did was rest a hand on Cai’s shoulder. “Thank you, Guildmaster,” he said, speaking for them both. His gaze slid to the other two men then back to Ashad. “I must admit, your friends here made me nervous.”

“I can’t imagine why.” Ashad’s smile admitted to the tease, but he was quick to clarify, “They’re here to assist Cai in selecting his new adjuncts—the available blanks are being brought aboard as we speak.”

Cai set his hand atop Nick’s. “I am ready to view them,” he said with surprising mildness. Nick knew how off-balance Cai felt with two of the six adjuncts missing.

Guildmaster Ashad stood and offered them both a short bow. “I shall return to Questral, then. Once your selections are made, Cai, I will meet with you one last time before we depart back to the Guild Halls.”

“Of course, sir, thank you.” Cai returned the bow, as did Nick, and they remained standing as the guildmaster swept out of the conference room.

“The blanks are ready for viewing,” stated the older of the two men. “We’ve set them up in cargo bay three.”

“Very well,” Cai replied shortly, and he turned to the exit, leading them to the cargo bay by the shortest route.

Nick followed close beside him, with the two guildsmen trailing. Their presence kept him quiet though he wanted to know if Cai was as thrilled as he was that the guildmaster had ruled in their favor.

“Yes,” Cai said quietly. “I am.” He glanced at Nick and winked. “Later, I’ll show you just how thrilled I am.”

Nick blew him a kiss in reply.

There were eight canisters lined up in the bay, each with an attendant console beside it. The canisters were dark, opaque, so that nothing of the contents could be seen. Nick looked over the set up with interest—he’d never seen anything like this and suspected it was considered a Guild secret. The guildsmen hadn’t insisted that he leave, though. Cai strolled up to the first canister, and the surface of it turned transparent as the internal lighting flared up, revealing a naked male body nestled within. Cai considered the body for nearly a minute before moving to the next canister. Nick wondered how Cai determined which ones were the ones he wanted.

“I just know,” Cai replied to his thoughts again, from halfway down the row. “I want this one.”

Nick moved to get a better view. The selected body was tall and muscular, with a red-brown hue to the skin that reminded Nick of copper. Like all adjuncts, it was hairless, but Nick would bet the hair had been black, as black as the open eyes which were staring blankly straight ahead. The gaze was creepy. “Do they all have their eyes open?”

“Yes,” Cai said shortly, most of his attention was on the console beside his selection. He rested his right hand, palm down, to engage the crystal on the receptor pad.

The two guildsmen were fiddling with the console also, and Nick nodded to himself as the lines on the display suddenly made sense. They were brainwaves, and the blank adjunct’s brainwaves were being tuned to match Cai’s. He looked at the body again, this time avoiding the eyes, and his gaze fell predictably on the body’s crotch. Oh, my. He’d never seen an organ so large. Flaccid, it reached halfway to the knees, and was as thick as Nick’s wrist at the base. The balls were like a pair of large, ripe peaches—each one was big enough to fill the mouth completely. Nick almost jumped when the lid of the canister swung open and the adjunct stepped out. His gaze was locked on the swaying trunk between the adjunct’s thighs until one of the guildsmen pulled the customary robe over the naked body.

He looked away in time to meet Cai’s amused, thoughtful gaze. To distract Cai, he asked, “He’s all tuned up to you?”

“Yes. He is my new Fi-em. Now for the other one.” Cai turned back to the canisters, ignoring the ones he’d already viewed in favor of the ones he hadn’t seen yet. When he reached the second to the last, he stopped again. “This one.”

This time, the body of the adjunct was average—very average–and Nick was able to pay attention to the process of tuning this time. The expression of extreme concentration on Cai’s face as he first matched then assimilated the new adjunct was interesting. Nick hadn’t really thought about the difficulty inherent in turning another brain into a subset of your own. The adjuncts were Cai in a fundamental way, but they maintained separate bodies and functions, and could even operate independently of Cai’
s consciousness at times.

The second adjunct stepped out and was dressed in the same manner as the first. Cai leaned against him, almost limp, and Nick asked, concerned, “Are you okay?”

“Just tired, it’s hard work to tune new adjuncts.” Cai stroked his hand and added telepathically, Don’t worry, I’ve still got enough energy to put you through your paces.

When they reached Cai’s chambers, Nick stripped, placing his clothes in a small cabinet Cai had placed by the door for him. It was just the right size to hold his clothes and shoes and served as a place to store his collar when he wasn’t here. He put the collar on once he was naked, stroking the leather as it encircled his neck and marked him as Cai’s property in a far more overt manner than did the ball-cuff. He also caressed the cuff, grateful that Cai had returned it to him, though with the new stipulation that it come off whenever he left Laughing Owl for any reason.

By the time Nick was done with his transformation from captain to slave, Cai had vanished from the main room. That wasn’t unusual. What was unusual was the way the six adjuncts were surrounding him, looking at him, and as soon as the collar was buckled, touching him. He looked into their eyes and found Cai looking back at him. Cai was all around him, leading him into the back areas of the chambers, where the adjuncts made their home, and Nick responded to their hands, Cai’s hands, his many, many hands and mouths and tongues. They laid Nick on his back on a bed but didn’t tie him; there was no need since there were enough of them to hold him open while others of them stroked him and licked him.

Nick moaned in pleasure as part of Cai swallowed his cock and another part of Cai tweaked his nipples. More of Cai stroked him, kissed him, and fingers probed into him, pumping and stretching him open. Tongues followed the fingers and Nick pumped his hips as he was reamed, the greedy mouth slurping on his cock adding to the hedonistic pleasure of being taken by the multiplicity of Cai. He could sense Cai directly sharing the senses of his adjuncts, controlling them as extensions of himself to give Nick pleasure, and he lost himself in the glorious sensations they were evoking from his body. He orgasmed once, and then again, from the mouths and tongues playing on his cock, his balls and in his ass, before a single one of the adjunct’s cocks ever came into play.

There was a pause in the action, which caused Nick to open his eyes, and he drew in a sharp breath as he saw Fi-em between his widely spread legs, the enormous cock jutting out like the battering ram of a warship. He was well-stretched and perfectly lubed, but he still groaned as the mighty ram pressed into him. Tongues swirled around his opening, easing the passage of the thick tool as it sank into him millimeter by exquisite millimeter, causing him to feel so full he thought it might split him in two, but it wasn’t painful, just incredibly intense.

Cai whispered in his mind, You can do this, I know you can.

Nick looked into the black eyes of the adjunct and saw Cai’s love for him brimming there, and he relaxed himself down there, allowing the remainder of the cock to enter him. He rode Cai’s cock with love, accepting it as the gift it was meant to be. Cai’s thrusts were gentle, for with the size of the spear impaling him, power was unnecessary. Nick’s back arched, and he cried out as an orgasm, more intense and powerful than any he’d ever known, swept him from head to toe. In the aftermath, he felt Cai’s arms around him, everywhere cradling him and stroking him, and knew himself treasured and loved in the deepest of ways.
