Down Too Deep

“We’ll be fine,” I told her.
“I’ll remember you said that when you’re complaining about not having any room.”
“I’d never say that.”
“What about the noise…three under the age of two?”
I grinned at her.
She giggled back. “You love that, don’t you? You can’t wait.”
“I don’t want it quiet in here. You know that.”
“They’ll all eventually grow up and move away…It won’t always be like this.”
Jenna was right. It wouldn’t. Everything was temporary. I was scared of losing this. I always would be. And I was fine with that.
I would be fine with it until the day I stopped being scared.
“We have years until that happens,” I said, voice breaking with a yawn. I hugged Matthew closer.
“What do you need, Nathan?”
My mouth twitched.
We still asked each other that question, and most of the time, our answers were the same.
I looked over at Jenna. “Right now?”
“Right now.”
Between us, our family dozed.
“Nothing.”

About the Author
J. Daniels is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Alabama Summer, Dirty Deeds, and Sweet Addiction series.
Best known for her sexy, small-town romances, her debut novel, Sweet Addiction, was first published in 2014 and went on to become an international bestseller. Since then, she has published more than ten novels, including the Dirty Deeds series with Forever Romance.
Daniels grew up in Baltimore and currently lives in Maryland with her husband and two kids. A former full-time radiologic technologist, she began writing romance after college and quickly discovered a passion for it. You’ll still catch her in scrubs every now and then, but most of her time these days is spent writing—a career she is eternally grateful for.
Always an avid reader, Daniels enjoys books of all kinds but favors romance (of course) and fantasy. She loves hiking, traveling, going to the mountains for the weekend, and spending time with her family.
