Asher’s lip turned up. “Right there is the reason I made a call to President Tucker.”
“He’s going to let us run a mission in Russia.” I had no doubt. Asher nodded. “Do you think it’s safe to go back to Russia? I’m pretty sure there are some people in the Meknikov family still watching for you.”
John and Antonio assisted one of their friends on a mission to Russia to bring back a woman's child. They killed a couple of high profile members of the Meknikov family.
“I’m going,” Abe said next to me. “Jayden and Mia are going too. Mia’s still pissed she got shot and plans to deliver a little revenge if needed.”
“You better stop her from taking out everyone that looks at her wrong in Russia," Asher grumbled.
Brock groaned. “I’m going to have to hire a cleanup crew just to follow her around.”
Everyone laughed, and for the next couple hours, we all sat around the fire, talking about everything except work. Moving to Florida was the best decision I ever made. Cruz and Lena had become close and when we moved to Florida, they moved into the same house. A twinge of jealousy coursed through my body. Axel whined next to me.
When our guests decided it was time to go home, we said our goodbyes and Abe led me to the living room. Axel laid down on the floor next to the couch.
“How are you doing?” Abe searched my face. “Did they stay too long?”
“I told you earlier, if it got too much, I would go inside. Axel picked up my change, and our friends picked up on his whine."
Abe’s face turned a little red. “I might have told everyone if Axel whined they needed to leave.” Abe watched me for a second.
“I love you.”
He let out a sigh and pulled me into his side. "I love you too, Addie. I wanted to ask you something."
“Ask away.”
“How do you feel about moving in together?”
He was my life, and I couldn't imagine spending any more time apart. "I would love that. I thought you’d never ask. Now, why don't you take me to our bed?"

Deep in the night, I poured myself another shot of whiskey. I was waiting for the usual call I hid from my wife. Keeping the secret from Patty was eating away at me. The second I knew how to solve the problem, I would.
On my desk sat two monitors, one hovering over my precious little girl and the other showing my beautiful wife in bed. She would kill me if she knew there was a camera in the bedroom. Another secret I was keeping from my wife. There were so many secrets.
When I agreed to move to Shalia and help Patty run the country, I expected it to only be for a couple of months until her dad came back. The dad she thought I couldn't find. Instead, I was waiting for our nightly call. There was only so much longer I could keep things from Patty before she figured out what was going on.
I knew I had to keep all communications with her father off any electronic devices. My lovely fiancé was one of the top hackers in the world. That was the other reason she was frustrated she couldn't find her father. She didn't understand how he wasn't using money, but he was. I set up a private account for him.
A weariness invaded my veins as the clock clicked past midnight. The call was late. Movement on the back yard camera caught my eye. The nightly meeting wasn’t going to be happening via a call. It was time for a sit-down meeting with my future father-in-law. I downed the remaining dark liquid in my glass before filling it back up.
There was only one reason her father was back.
Eve was in trouble. Eve was in danger. She might not want his help. But she would get it. It was time to protect his wife.
Whether she wanted it or not. Time seemed to slow as I watched her father make his way to my office. The office used to be the King’s.
King Beckett walked in and sat down in the chair across from me.
“Sir, it’s good to see you. I’m surprised you’re here.”
He eyed the bottle on my desk before reaching across and taking a swig right out of the bottle. “It’s taken care of.”
For the past year, King Beckett worked to find everyone involved in kidnapping Jessica and torturing her. He felt like it was his responsibility to avenge his daughter. Shalia had other problems over the year that the King wanted me to clean up.
"I'm not sorry you had to kill those men. Now you’re back, and you can take over again."
King Beckett ran his hand over his face. "Over the past year, I've had a lot of time to think. What you've accomplished in Shalia in the past year is more than I did since I took over.”
“You know our wedding is in three weeks? I’ve told you this almost every night we’ve talked.”
“Yes. I think Patty should take her place as queen before the wedding.”
My stomach turned. All the secrets I kept from my wife were about to come out in the open.
