“It’ll be hard, and I don’t know anything about being an alpha.”

Adalyn kissed her cheek. “I’ll be right by your side, baby to tell you when you’re messing up.” She smiled teasingly. “But you’ll be fair and firm.”

Mallory laughed. “Oh damn, now I’m just plain jealous over here. Stop with the sappy,” she joked.

“We need to talk about this, Addy,” Sam said. “Being an alpha is going to affect you too.”

She shrugged. “I’m not scared. I like a challenge.” She beamed and Sam chuckled and kissed her.

“You must really love me to be willing to give up your fabulous career,” Sam teased pulling Adalyn onto her lap.

She wrinkled her nose. “I’m just using you for sex, but I’ll need something to do in between sessions.”

  Sam laughed. “Woman, you’re crazy.”

“So, it’s set, then,” Mallory said. “I hate to lose you Adalyn, but you can’t dance at the club anymore. You’re going to be a liability and a distraction. Plus Sam could use a secretary.”

“Maybe,” Sam said. “But you’re right. It’s all set. Are you bringing in the wolves?”

“I’m meeting Jenner later to talk. Doesn’t matter what he decides, we’re taking down the hyenas and Oaklyn.”

  “Game on,” Sam said coldly.

Mallory got to her feet. “I’ll be expecting a formal announcement about you and your mate soon.” She smiled. “Welcome to the pack, Adalyn.” Mallory hugged her.

  “Thanks.” She hugged her back.

Sam walked Mallory out and returned with a smile for her mate. “Your life is about to change, darlin’ and it won’t always be safe.”

Adalyn shrugged. “My life hasn’t been safe in years, Samarra. First I was a punching bag and then I was on the streets. I’m a survivor.”

Sam pulled Adalyn into her arms. “I love you, Addy,” she murmured. “No matter what happens over the next several months that’s the one thing that won’t change.”

“I’m counting on it.” She wrapped her arms around Sam and hugged her tight.
