The Fog of Dreams

Louisa's fingers smacked across the keys lightly as she hunched over her keyboard, squinting at the monitor in front of her. If she spent 75% of her time writing reports, she spent at least 20% of her remaining time on the Internet doing case review or research. As time went on, police work felt more and more administrative and less like justice, at least for those in charge.
She plucked a few fingerfulls of French fries from the wet and wrinkled paper bag on her desk as she continued hacking away with her right hand, then stuffed the starched and fried potatoes into her mouth. Another crappy lunch eaten at her crappy desk while she desperately multi tasked to try and make it through the day. As she thought back to her vicious physical endurance training at Quantico she shook her head sadly at the reality of police work in small town Vermont.
The FBI had been her dream. She excelled at Quantico and had craved working as a Federal agent almost more than life itself?but not more than her love for Julietta. She followed her to this no-name town as she worked her residency at the local hospital, but kept an eye towards getting back to Washington. Truth was, if Norwood hadn't offered her the Chief's position, she probably still wouldn't have followed her love here, but the surprise offering of the top cop spot drew her in and now she was stuck.
