In the Beginning

Nyela walked into the house behind Synn and paused when he did. All of the lights were off, and as he flipped the switch, none of them came on.
“What the hell is going on now?” Maleiha questioned.
“Maybe a fuse was blown,” Emery spoke.
“Where’s the box? I’ll go check it.” Nyela volunteered.
“It’s in Synn’s workroom,” Ashton answered. “I’ll come with you.”
“I don’t need an escort.” She responded before heading down the hall after taking her phone out and turning her flashlight on.
“I hope she falls and breaks her neck on the way.” She heard Kylen say, and she rolled her eyes.
Nyela made her way through the house and out of the backdoor. It was locked. So, that let her know that no one had come in the house that way if it was more than a simple fuse being blown, since the door locked from the inside and couldn’t be unlocked without a key.
She made her way to Synn’s workroom. Opening the door, she stepped inside and flashed her light. She didn’t see anything or anyone, so she made her way over to the breaker box that was in the corner.
Opening it up, she held her phone over the controls to see what the problem could have possibly been. She was just about to flip one of the switches when she felt an arm come around her neck and begin to cut off her airflow. What the fuck?
Nyela was pissed at herself. She hadn’t heard anyone approaching her, which could only mean the person was extremely light on their feet.
“Who are you?” The question was asked lowly, and she was having a hard time placing the voice.
Nyela elbowed them in the stomach, and she heard them grunt as it caused them to release her. Turning around, she swung out at the silhouette of the person. She had left the door open and could make out a bit of them from the moonlight shining in.
She connected, and she watched as they stumbled backward before getting their footing. Once they did, they charged at her. Nyela was prepared, grounding herself. She threw a left, but it didn’t land. At the last minute, they ducked and pivoted, hitting her with a right to her side.
Nyela hissed out in pain, but she didn’t get to dwell on it long as an elbow jabbed her in the back, sending her forward. She tried to shake it off, turning around and throwing a punch of her own only for it to be blocked and a blow to land on her stomach.
She doubled over, holding her stomach as she gritted her teeth. Who the fuck was this person? To say that Nyela was not amused was an understatement. She felt a hand grip her hair, and she took the opportunity to land her own punch to the person’s stomach, forcing them to let her hair go and stumble backward.
Nyela knew the smart thing to do would be to wait and contemplate their next move. It was clear to her that this was not an ordinary person. However, she was pissed. It had been a while since someone had gotten the best of her in an actual one on one fight, and she was not about to let that shit slide.
That’s what had her charging at the other person, but they sank down, sweeping her legs from under her. Nyela felt herself tumbling backward, and her back hit the floor hard. It was only a second later that she felt a shoe on her neck and slight pressure being added.
“Let’s try this again.” The voice started. Still as low as before. “Who are you?”
“Who the fuck are you?” Nyela pushed out, which was incredibly hard in her current position.
She heard footsteps coming towards the workshop, and at that moment, the lights came on, and she could make out the person standing over her.
“Mom?” She heard Kylen question, and the woman that had her pinned turned her attention towards the doorway.
“My baby.” She stated with a smile.
“Sweetheart.” She then heard, looking over to see an older man standing with everyone else. “Let her up.” He then spoke and signed, and Nyela noticed the hearing aid in her ear.
The woman looked down at her as if she had forgotten that her foot was currently cutting her air supply and about to crush her trachea. She removed her foot, and Nyela stood up as Synn came over to her. He cupped her face to look at her neck as she rubbed it.
“Well, she didn’t die like I wanted, but you kicked her ass pretty good, Mom,” Kylen spoke, and Nyela threw him a glare.
“Where are our manners?” The older man stated, coming towards her and Synn. “I’m Graesyn, and this is my wife, Emilen. We’re responsible for those five. So, apologies.”
“Don’t apologize for our greatness, old man. Especially to her.” Kylen scoffed.
“I really hate you,” Nyela stated under her breath. Not wanting to offend his parents, but definitely feeling some sort away about Emilen at the moment.
“You didn’t tell us why you two were here so early,” Ashton spoke.
Nyela watched as their father, with eyes that were probably bluer than Grae’s turned to them. “It seems you have a problem that you’re taking your time to handle, and I didn’t raise you to be incompetent. So, one of you,” He stated, looking between Synn and Grae. “Better start explaining. Now.”
Nyela watched as Synn raised an eyebrow, and Grae crossed his arms over his chest. She had a feeling that these three Amato personalities were about to clash…hard.
