Unexpected Alpha (Gay M-Preg)

When he realized exactly what they were doing, it brought tears to his eyes. They distracted him so much that he didn’t panic and pace the room endlessly because he was worried about Josh. Indeed, even if they didn’t manage to calm him down completely, he felt much better because he didn’t have to wait all alone.
Finally another nurse opened the door. “You can see him now. He’s fine, and the little one’s also fine. You have a healthy son.”
Anthony closed his eyes for a moment then nodded. A huge weight fell from his shoulders, and he followed the nurse back to the room where Josh had been lying. He was still a little pale, and it was obvious he’d been given painkillers, but he was responsive. “How are you feeling?”
“Like I’ve been cut open.”
Anthony grinned. Josh had his sense of humor again, so he wasn’t too bad. He stepped up to Josh’s bed and looked at his partner. Next to him, wrapped in a blanket, lay a small bundle with a furrowed face.
Their son.
The son they’d made together. Even though he loved his two adopted children as much as he did his own, this child stood for something he’d never believed he’d have.
He stood for his love for Josh.
Anthony closed his eyes as he pressed his face against Josh’s neck while carefully tracing his fingertips over his son’s cheek.
“Have you thought about a name yet?”
Josh shook his head. “No. I’ve had so many ideas, but I didn’t find anything really fitting.”
“I think we can still figure it out. Right now, I’m just happy to have you back. And just to be clear, there’s not gonna be another one. I can’t stand worrying about you.”
Josh laughed and then made a face. “Ouch. It’s okay. I’m happy with one, too.”
“Then we’re in agreement.” He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. “Let me take a quick picture. Our friends all texted me to distract me. I just want them to know that everything’s fine.”
“The way I look?” Josh wrinkled his nose.
Anthony grinned at him and took a picture of his son and his fiancé. “Just like that. Because it’s perfect.”
Epilogue
A few years later
* * *
It was time for the monthly barbecue at their house. They took turns organizing these parties. Josh was sitting in a deck chair, his youngest daughter on his lap. Contrary to Anthony’s declaration after Levi’s birth, they’d had two more children. Another son and, finally, a daughter. Anthony watched her like she was a treasure. Josh had thought he was over-cautious with Hanna, their eldest daughter, but it was nothing compared to how he dealt with Jane, the youngest. She was already one year old and had her father wrapped around her finger.
It was always funny to see Anthony come home in the evening, being immediately stormed by the kids. He played pony with them and carried them around on his back for hours, he fought with them, he taught them how to hunt as a shifter and everything else they needed to know – or not.
The pack had changed fundamentally since Anthony had taken over. They had made themselves a home, and even if it meant he wasn’t living so close to Ash anymore, it was best for his family. The laws had indeed been changed and they no longer had to hide. It had taken time, but finally they’d won. Now all their children were completely legally recognized – with two fathers.
Anthony kept an eye on the grill as he tried to teach his two eldest sons how best to build hamburgers. They seemed more interested in building towers with the patties to see who could stack them higher before they fell over. Barbecuing wasn’t really interesting. Typical boys that age.
“Cut the bullshit or you’ll just have salad later.”
The boys pulled faces and decided they’d rather see what else there was to do.
He looked around, seeing his brother with his kids.
After two pregnancies, D had sworn that it was over. After three, D had become very vocal about a fourth pregnancy, something along the lines of: when hell freezes over.
So, when they announced pregnancy number four, the whole group had been speechless. Nobody had expected it, but everyone was sure they’d make it with eight children.
It remained to be seen whether D would stop after this pregnancy…
Anthony didn’t trust him yet.
He and Josh didn’t want any more, but they already had five children. That was more than enough.
Alex looked around happily, rubbing his rounded belly. He’d never expected to see that many kids around them. It had all started with Angela, who was now almost a teenager. She and Lucas were the eldest in their group. Smiling, he looked up and watched Angela playing with Ash and D’s oldest twins. He and Sam had told Anthony some time ago that they’d also love to have another child. An adoption was possible but expensive, and although both of them were working, they couldn’t and didn’t want to afford it at this time.
But somehow, Luis had found out. This had led to them being called to the palace for an appointment where Luis and Gerome had explained to them what they were planning.
This gift had been the most generous he had ever received and had completed her family.
Of course he hadn’t been in bed with Gerome. None of them would have wanted that. Gerome had agreed to donate his sperm to him, and so, after several unsuccessful attempts, they’d managed to conceive another child. It had been nerve-wracking months until it worked. Finally, however, they’d managed, and now they’d have a family of four.
They were the couple with the fewest children, but he couldn’t imagine having as many as everyone else. Only Lindsay and Jeremy had remained completely childless, but they both stressed they didn’t care about having kids either, as they were babysitting for Josh and Anthony a lot.
Besides, they were both on the road a lot when they didn’t stay at home in Anthony’s pack.
Sam handed him a plate with a burger. “Everything all right?”
Alex looked at his husband. “More than good. I was just thinking about how much has changed in recent years.”
“You can say that again. But it’s turned out great.” Sam bent over to him and pressed a kiss on his lips.
“And it’s gonna get a lot better when I can move without waddling.”
Sam laughed and placed one hand on Alex’s stomach. “I love your baby belly, but you already know that.”
“I know. And I know that I love you.”
“I feel the same way.” Sam lifted his glass and Alex followed him. All together they drank – most of them with soda – to their perfect lives.
Thank you
Thank you for supporting me those last few years. I had so much fun writing the Unexpected books, and I’m sad to see this series coming to an end. It is, however, time to move on to other things!
I may visit the guys in the future to get a glimpse at their family lives, but they’re all happy now, so my work is done.

I couldn’t have done all of this without your support, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.

Lots of love,
