Drake covered his face with his hands. His shoulders rose and fell.

Dani looked at Jake. He shrugged slightly and shook his head. She bit her lip. “I know how much this means to you. I really hope you find your sister.”

Drake dropped his hands by his sides. “Thank you. And thank you for making this possible. This chance…it’s more than I could have hoped for.”

“It was fun.” Dani laughed. “Well, mostly fun.”

Drake nodded. “And you think this is secure enough? I know how powerful this is, and I know certain groups would like to have it.”

“It’s true. It’s a very valuable tool and a lot of people would like to get their hands on it,” Gage said as he walked by Dragan and Jake. He stood in the doorway just behind Drake. “But these facilities are damn hard to get into. Armed guards, bullet proof glass, retinal scans. It’s really state of the art, and at this point there is nothing else that even comes close.” Gage stopped next to Dani.

“Is it safe from hacking?” Drake asked.

Jake snorted and Dragan cracked a grin.

Dani glared at the two of them before she answered Drake, “Nothing is unhackable unless it’s off grid in a closed, clean room.” She shrugged. “Someone somewhere might be able to get in, but then they’d have to be good enough to get by all the security I’ve enabled, which is as close to ironclad as you can get. And if the hack is that big, if they get that far, we’ll know about it.”

Drake nodded again. “And Gage, you’ll go with her and protect her while she installs this?”

It was Gage’s turn to smile. “I don’t plan on leaving her side.”

Heat crawled up Dani’s cheeks. She knew what the wicked gleam in his eye meant, and she had no doubt so did all the other men in the room.

“Drake, since I’ll be gone and Mitch is already in Africa, Dragan and Jake will stay with you. They will be your personal security and organize anything else you might need. The Triads know about the software, and even though you managed to get a lot of them jailed both here and in Macau, I think we need to keep security tight around you and your businesses.”

“Agreed.” Drake glanced at Jake and then Dragan. “I’m sure these gentlemen are up to the task. Callahan Security has not let me down yet.”

“Um, I think we’re good to go.” Dani stood up and closed her new laptop. She ran her hand over the stickers. Frozen and Star Wars. Who knew Gage would be a Sci-Fi fan?

“Okay. Here you go.” Drake handed Dani a USB stick.

  Gage frowned. “What’s that?”

Dani shook her head but Drake didn’t see her. “It’s the money I owe Dani for all her work. It’s in bitcoin and this is the key.”

  Gage glared at Dani. “Bitcoin?”

“What? You didn’t expect me to pay tax on this did you?” she asked with a grin.

Gage shook his head and Drake laughed. “Good luck with her.” Drake clapped Gage on the back. “You’re going to need it,” he said as he walked out of the security cage. Jake and Dragan fell in step with him, and they disappeared around the corner.

“Yes, I am,” Gage said and then swooped in for a kiss.

  Callahan Security Book 1

Callahan Security is on the brink of disaster. Mitch Callahan pushed his brothers to expand the family business into private security, and their first major client is a complete pain in the ass. It’s no wonder the man has a target on his back, but nothing could prepare Mitch for how seductive his adversary is.

Love hurts. No one knows that better than Alexandra Buchannan, so she uses her talents as a thief to equalize the scales of romantic justice. Your ex still has your favorite painting? Not for long. Alex’s latest job is her biggest challenge yet. Her target just hired a new security company, and the team leader is as smart as he is sexy.

Mitch knows he’s jeopardizing not only this job but the future of Callahan Security. If only he didn’t find Alex so damn irresistible. Soon their game of cat and mouse explodes into a million pieces. Unbeknownst to them, there’s another player in the game, and his intentions are far deadlier.

  About the Author

I grew up in a house filled with books and readers. Some of my fondest memories are of reading in the same room with my mother and sisters, arguing about whose turn it was to make tea. No one wanted to put their book down!

I was introduced to romance because of my mom’s habit of leaving books all over the house. One day I picked one up. I still remember the cover. It was a Harlequin by Janet Daily. Little did I know at the time that it would set the stage for my future. I went on to discover mystery novels. Agatha Christie was my favorite. And then suspense with Wilber Smith and Ian Fleming.

I loved the thought of combining my favorite genres, and during high school, I attempted to write my first romantic suspense novel. I wrote the first four chapters and then exams happened and that was the end of that. I desperately hope that book died a quiet death somewhere in a computer recycling facility.

A few years later, (okay, quite a few) after two degrees, a husband and two kids, I attended a workshop in Tuscany that lit that spark for writing again. I have been pounding the keyboard ever since here in New Jersey, where I live with my children—who are thrilled with my writing as it means they get to eat more pizza—and my very supportive husband.
