Loved by the Alpha Wolves

I reached over Landon to get to my phone and quickly sent Jasper a text message. Soon enough, I heard footsteps growing closer across the wooden floor and spied him in the doorway. I couldn't tell if he was perturbed that I had disturbed his cooking or annoyed that the three of us were still in bed, sleeping in. I gestured for him to come back to bed, which he stubbornly refused. But all it took was a small pout for him to relent, and he shed his sweatpants as he crawled back into bed with me. He fit snuggly again my side, between myself and Xavier, and rested his head on my ribs.

"Won't be long now," he whispered, his hand drawing circles around my protruding belly. "How many do you think there will be?"

"If we are lucky, three. One for each of you so they can keep you out of my hair," I joked as I ruffled his hair.

"Hmph. It will likely end up being me taking care of all of them, given your lack of responsibility."

  "Excuse me?!"

"That was a joke, Kiara. You should know by now I think you highly capable of caring for children, especially your own."

He said it so deadpan that I couldn't be sure whether he was really joking or not.

"Well, you should have learned by now how to tell a joke because that wasn't funny," I teased.

He nestled against my side with a hmph and I pulled the covers up around us to bring back the warmth we had lost.

It had been painful to walk away from the fame, especially after all the hard work I had gone through. Walking away from Madeline without a reason as to why I was no longer in the singing business. She had her questions, of course, none of which I could answer. But being out here with the Fat Bastards after they had said yes, forming our own pack in the secluded wilderness, had definitely been worth it.

I hadn't felt this happy before, not even with my own pack.

Saying yes had definitely been the right thing to do and now I got to reap the rewards of it all. I smiled and rubbed my belly, and the warm hands all reaching out touching me.

Life and Fate were finally giving me the chance I deserved.
