“Because I wanted to, because you’re beautiful, because you’re still my girl.”

“Oh, Luca.” My heart melted with love for him. I knew that this was the wrong place and time to get sentimental, but I couldn’t stop myself. I reached up and stroked the side of his face. “You’re more handsome than I remember you being, you know?”

  “Oh yeah?”

  “Yeah. You’re a man now.”

“What are you talking about? I was a man then.”

“No, you were a boy then. You’re a man now.”

“I’ll show you how much of a man I am.” He laughed and his hand reached out to my ass and squeezed.

“Luca, we can’t do this now.”

“Well, let’s get a cab and maybe we can have some fun there.”

  “Luca, we can’t.”

“We can’t what? I just said we can have some fun. I didn’t say what sort of fun.”

“Luca, don’t go getting any ideas.”

“What ideas. Come on.” He pulled on my arm and we headed toward the main street. I wasn’t sure where we were, but he seemed to know where we were going.

We walked across a small park and then came out to another main street. There were a lot of taxis going up and down and he looked left and right before he ran out and put his hand out. A cab pulled over to the side and he looked at me. “Where are we going?”

“We’re going to the Upper East Side,” I said softly, not sure if I should give the full address. How did Luca know if this taxi driver was even safe? Now I was nervous. What if this was a setup? What if Enzo’s people had found us already and the guy in the cab worked for Enzo?

“Ma’am, the Upper East Side’s a really big place,” the taxi driver said with a deep New York accent. “I need to know exactly where you’re going. What are the cross streets please?”

“Um, I have to text my friend and get them. Can we just head that way and then I’ll let you know?”

“Sure. Get in the cab. Let’s go.”

Luca opened the door and I got in first. And then he slid in behind me. I looked over at Luca and I whispered, “Do you think this is okay?”

He nodded. “Yeah. He’s not one of Enzo’s men.”

  “If you’re sure.”

I pretended to pull out my phone and text. “Just one second, sir.” As I sat there, looking at the screen and pretending to wait for my friend to text me back with the address, I felt Luca’s hand on my leg, crawling up. “What are you doing?” I whispered over at him.

“Nothing,” he whispered quietly, laughing as he spoke.

“Luca!” I said as his fingers trailed up my thigh toward my pussy. “You cannot do that.”

“Cannot do what?” He leaned over and nuzzled my ear, his hand now in the middle of my legs.

“Luca!” I pushed him away and he laughed. “Okay, sir. Hold on. She just texted me the address. We’re going to Madison Avenue and East Eighty-Third Street, please.”

“Okay. Gotcha,” the taxi driver said, and he was off.

I looked over at Luca, who was grinning. “Why are you laughing?” I said.

“I’m not laughing. I’m just smiling.”

“Why are you smiling? We don’t really have much to be smiling about right now.”

“I’m smiling because I’m here with you.”

  “Luca.”

“Okay. I’m smiling because I’m excited about what’s going to happen next.”

“What are you talking about? What’s going to happen next? I mean, hopefully we’ll be okay. Hopefully Matteo will have some answers for us, some help to give, because I don’t know how long we’ll be able to stay in that apartment.”

“Shh.” Luca slid over to me. “We can worry about that in thirty minutes. Let’s have some fun.”

“Luca, no,” I whispered at him, looking in the front to see if the taxi driver was paying attention to us, but he was busy talking on his phone to someone as he drove. “Luca!”

“Get on my lap,” he said softly.

  “Luca, I can’t.”

“Yes, you can.” His hands slid over my breasts and I could feel his palms rubbing against my hardening nipples.

  “Luca,” I whined. “You can’t.”

“We can. Get on my lap.” He picked me up slightly and positioned me on his lap. And I leaned back. I could feel his hardness between my ass cheeks.

  “Luca.”

“Slide your panties to the side,” he whispered.

  “No, I...”

And then his hand came down between my legs and he rubbed my clit, sliding my panties to the side for me.

“Oh Luca.” He rubbed gently and groaned as he could feel my wetness.

“I want to be inside of you. I need to be inside of you again, Anabel. Please tell me it’s okay.”

  “Fine,” I moaned.

And then I felt him unzipping himself. “Lean forward,” he whispered in my ear and I bent down slightly. He then pulled my hips back and positioned me over his cock. Before I knew it, his large cock was sliding into me and now was inside of me. “Move back and forth,” he exhaled. “Gyrate your hips.”

“Luca,” I said, but I couldn’t stop myself from doing just what he asked. I moved back and forth, riding him. I could feel him getting harder and harder inside of me. His hands reached up and caught my breasts as I rode him in the back of the taxi. I was so scared that the taxi driver would realize what was going on, but a part of me didn’t care. Soon, I was riding him with abandon, fucking him hard, bouncing up and down in his lap, driving the both of us crazy.

“Oh fuck!” he said, and all of a sudden he held on to my hips and bounced me up and down on his lap until he was exploding inside of me. I hadn’t come yet and he must have realized it because he reached his hand between my legs and he rubbed on my clit. He rubbed and rubbed and rubbed until I couldn’t take it anymore and I exploded down on him.

“Oh my gosh,” I moaned. And then pulled off of him slightly. He zipped himself back up and I repositioned my panties so that they were covering me properly.

“Now that was hot,” he said softly. “Don’t you think?”

“It was okay.” I laughed, feeling dazed and confused. What had I just done? I just had sex with this man twice in one night. And I hadn’t even seen him before a couple of weeks ago.

“We’re going to have to talk, you know?” he said quietly and I frowned.

  “Talk about what?”

“Talk about the fact that I’ve come in you twice tonight. Are you on the pill?”

“No.” I shook my head. “I’m not.”

“So yeah, we got to talk because if I’ve knocked you up, we got to figure out what we’re going to do.”

“What do you mean, what we’re going to do?”

“That’s something for a later conversation. Okay?” And then his mouth came crashing down on mine and I couldn’t think about anything else. He smelled like sex and I knew that I smelled the same way, hot, virile, dangerous sex. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next, but I knew that tonight was going to be a night I’d never forget.

  Chapter 21

  Luca

I sensed Matteo’s presence as soon as we got out of the taxi. I looked around and the first thing I noticed was the smug look on his face as he gazed at us. He was standing underneath a tree, trying to look inconspicuous. I knew that Anabel hadn’t seen him, but I was the sort of guy that noticed everything. I noticed every person everywhere. I even noticed every rat as it ran across the street. You had to when you were in my position. You couldn’t afford to be ambushed. I was the best at what I did. I was infallible. I didn’t like to be cocky, but there was nothing that got past me.

I paid the taxi driver quickly and then grabbed Anabel’s hand. “Come on,” I said, and walked her over to Matteo. “Hey.”

He looked at me and smirked. “Hey there yourself. I see you needed my help.” I could hear the gloating in his voice and I hated it, but he was right. I did need him. I
was proud, but I wasn’t too proud to accept his help, not when he was also protecting and keeping Anabel safe… Matteo and I had fallen out a long time ago. We had been cousin’s that had despised each other for a long time. When he’d left the mafia, I’d felt betrayed. And after what had gone down with my sister, well, that was something I didn’t even want to think about. She’d gone off the loony train a long time ago and was now living her life in Europe. I’d been sad to see her go, but I was glad she wasn’t here for this. It would have been a hotter mess if she would have had to hide out with Matteo as well. Though I was pretty confident that if Lucia was here, Matteo would not have agreed to help us. He wouldn’t jeopardize his relationship with Emily for me. Just as I wouldn’t jeopardize my relationship for him.

“Come on, we have to go quickly before they see us.” Matteo looked at me and then at Anabel. “How are you doing, Anabel?”

“I’m fine thanks,” she said softly and nodded her head, a flash smile on her face as we followed Matteo down the street. Her cheeks were flushed and I grinned. She looked like she’d just been fucked. Her skirt was messed up slightly and rolled up higher than it should be. I leaned over and pulled it down. She gasped. “What are you doing?”

“I don’t want everyone in the street seeing your panties,” I whispered to her. “Though maybe you want people to know you just had the ride of your life?” I laughed and she hit me in the shoulder.

“Come on, guys. Let’s walk faster,” Matteo said softly. He looked around him to ensure we weren’t being followed.

  “Where are we going exactly?”

“I didn’t give you the exact address,” Matteo said. “I told Emily to give you one a couple of blocks away just in case you were followed or bugged.”

  “Okay.”

“Have you gotten rid of your cell phones yet?”

  “No.”

“You know you got to destroy them, Luca. You know Enzo can trace them.”

  “I know but...”

  “Give me your phone.”

I handed him my cell phone. I looked over at Anabel. “You got to give him your phone, love.”

“I can’t give you my phone, it’s got...”

  “Anabel, give him your phone.”

“Okay.” She handed Matteo the phone and he grabbed it from her. He dropped both of the phones into the street and stomped on them, with his steel-toed boots, until they were smashed into smithereens.

“Wow. Bye-bye phone,” I said ironically, with a small laugh.

Matteo just shook his head, kicked the glass into the road. “Come on, let’s go. Can you walk a little bit faster?”

“Yeah. Can you keep up, Anabel?” I looked to her to make sure she was doing okay. She looked slightly overwhelmed, and I wanted to kill myself for having involved her in the situation. I knew that I was the reason why she’d been taken by Enzo. I knew that Giorgio had told Enzo about my plan to kidnap her and so Enzo had done it first. He knew I’d come for her. He’d always known I’d come. All the games I had played, all the things I did, everything I tried to say to pretend I wasn’t interested, it didn’t matter. He’d known it was all a lie. He’d known and he’d played along, but he hadn’t known about Moretti. I’d gotten one over on him with Moretti, and I knew he was going to be furious because the last thing a mafia boss wanted was to look stupid. And he’d looked really stupid for believing me. And I knew when a mafia boss was furious, heads were going to roll.

“Is this place going to be safe, Matteo? For all of us?” I looked him in the eye and he nodded slightly.

  “For a bit.”

  “Okay. And then?”

He shook his head. “We don’t talk here. Let’s wait until we get upstairs.”

We walked for about four more blocks and then we came to a bodega on the corner. There were two doors, one that let you into the store and one that was to the side that obviously let you into an apartment upstairs. He used a key to let us into the side door, and we hurried in and walked up two flights of stairs. He then led us to a door on the right.

  “Come on, quick.”

He opened the door and we went inside. As soon as we entered Emily and Charlotte rushed over to Anabel and held her close to them. “Oh my god, Anabel. Thank God you’re safe. Oh, I was so worried.”

Emily was patting her on the head while Charlotte looked over at me and glared.

  “Where’s that one’s man?”

I looked at Matteo. “He’s on a business trip,” Matteo said. “He’s going to be pissed when he finds out.”

  “I know.” I grimaced.

Charlotte was dating a guy named Max. He was a billionaire, one of the richest guys in New York City. And I knew that once he knew that his fiancée was involved with a mess like this, he was going to have a bounty on all of our heads. Max was not going to care that I used to date Anabel and was trying to protect her. He wasn’t going to care that Matteo was helping in trying to protect all of us. All he was going to think about was how we’d endangered his woman. And he’d have a bounty on our heads. And I understood, because if he would have done the same to Anabel, I would have killed him too.

“We got to make this right.” I stared at the girls and then over at Matteo.

Matteo grabbed me by the arm roughly. “Come with me. We need to talk.”

  “Okay.”

I looked over at Anabel. “Are you going to be okay?” I wasn’t going to leave her if she needed me, not even if it was to go into the next room.

“Yes.” She nodded slightly. “But don’t do anything stupid, okay Luca?”

  “I won’t.”

I gave her a warm smile. She smiled back at me. I could see her friends looking back and forth between us, slight frowns on their faces. I knew the last thing that they wanted was for Anabel to get involved with me again. I was bad news. I’d been bad news years ago and I was bad news now. It hurt me to see them looking at me with such judgment on their faces. They didn’t know that I loved her more than life itself. They didn’t know that I would give my life just to ensure she was safe. They didn’t know that. All they knew was that here we were hidden in this disgusting little ratty apartment because I had endangered us. I had endangered us all. And I had to get us out of this, no matter what I had to do.

“Luca, come,” Matteo called over to me from a corner, and I followed him. He opened a door and led us into a small room and closed it behind us.

“What the fuck have you gotten us into, Luca?” Matteo shook his head. “What the fuck have you done? Can you never get any fucking thing right?”

I just stared at him, not answering because I knew if I answered, it would lead to a big shouting match. And I didn’t need that right now. I didn’t need the women outside hearing us go off. They needed to feel that we were calm. They needed to feel safe. They needed to have trust in us.

“I understand where you’re coming from, Matteo. This obviously was not part of my plan.”

“You were going to kidnap Anabel, you stupid fuck?” He pushed me hard, so that I stumbled back.

“I was not going to kid—” I stopped. “Okay, I’m not going to lie. Yes, I had a plan. I was going to kidnap her. I wanted to make her pay for leaving me all those years ago.”

“And what were you going to do with her once you kidnapped her?”

  “I don’t know.”

“Yeah right, you don’t know?” He pushed me again, but I refused to push him back. “I heard you’re engaged,” he said, disgust in his voice.

  “Yeah?”

“Valentina Marchese. Really, Luca? You’re going to mess with Marchese’s daughter?”

  “I wasn’t messing with her. I haven’t fucked her.”

“But you planned on fucking her, didn’t you?”

“No, I didn’t have any plan on fucking her actually.”

  “So what was the plan?”

  “Giorgio liked her.”

  “And?”

“I was going to have Giorgio fuck her, and I was goi
ng to have Anabel think that it was me. I wanted to see her reaction.”

“You were going to make your girl watch you fuck another woman?”

“Well, she wouldn’t be watching me, Matteo. She’d be watching Giorgio. She’d just think it was me.”

“How the fuck is she going to confuse you with pudgy little Giorgio?”

“Because the lights would have been out and it would have been in my bedroom.”

“You’re a sick fuck. You know that, Luca? You were going to have your girl walk into your bedroom and think she was watching you fuck another woman just to get back at her?”

“I didn’t say I was the most mature of people, no.”

“And then what, Luca? Then what were you going to do?”

“Then I was going to let her know, hopefully when she was crying, distraught, upset. Then I was going to let her know that it hadn’t been me, that it had been Giorgio. That I’d broken her heart just like she’d broken mine. And then I was going to fuck her. And then I was going to tell her to get out and never come back again.” I said the words slowly, ashamed of myself for what I’d planned to do. “I was going to use her and get rid of her. I know it was a stupid plan. I know it was dumb. I know it was immature. I know it was something that only the cruelest sort of man would do. But you know me, Matteo, I’m not a nice man.”

“But you didn’t get to do it. Why?” His eyes narrowed. “Why? What happened?”

“Turns out Giorgio is a rat. That slimy rat went and told Enzo that I was planning on kidnapping Anabel. He was the one that was meant to get her for me.”

“Why would he go to Enzo?”

“He never liked Anabel. And I’m thinking that he wanted to make me pay for trying to bring her back into my life. Don’t worry though, he’s the one that’s going to pay. He’s the one that’s going to pay with his life.”

“You’re changing, Luca.” Matteo walked over to me and looked me in the eyes. “You got a thing for that girl still, don’t you?”

  “Why would you think that?”

“I saw the way you held her hand as we walked here. I saw the way that you kept looking at her, checking to see if she was okay. You’re still fucking in love with her, aren’t you?”
