“I’ve been informed of a planned attack on your compound. You are being watched and it hasn’t escaped those who are watching that you have very vulnerable people under your protection. They are planning to strike at your vulnerabilities.”
Hawk played with his beard as he stared into the dark interior of the SUV.
“How solid is your intel?”
“Came right from the damned horse’s mouth. They are searching for the bitch. They want her back, she knows too much about their organisation. They suspect you snatched her. I’ll take her off your hands and she will disappear never to be seen again. I give you my word of honour.” He was quiet for a few seconds. “In exchange I need a favour from you. I have someone here I need you to keep safe. She’s being hunted by the old bitch’s men as we speak. If you take her in and keep her safe I will handle your problem for you.”
Ice’s hand suddenly clasped tight over Hawk’s shoulder and he pulled him away from the brightly lit area around the cage and into the shadows.
“Let him take her, Prez. We’ve got what we need and she’s a liability now. He takes her and our hands are clean. It gets the bitch out of our sanctuary. I don’t want her anywhere near my woman and children, cuz. Let him take her.”
Hawk looked in his cousin’s eyes and saw his determination and nodded in agreement.
“I agree. But we’re going to have to bring this to the table, Ice. We can’t make this decision on our own.”
“I’ll get the brothers together.” Kid said quietly. He had his phone out and soon a ping let them know the text had been sent.
“Who is it you want us to keep safe for you?” Beas
t asked with a growl.
Hawk frowned. Beast had been very short tempered lately. Actually the man had always had a short fuse but it has been worse since the arrival of his little girls.
“She’s one of Pixie’s friends. She overheard plans to kill a business associate of mine but unfortunately she was seen. They were waiting for her when she came home, luckily she was able to escape but not before being beaten severely. Pixie called me and I made arrangements for medical attention and a safe house. But the bastards found her again which means I have a rat in my organisation. Until I have exterminated my problem she isn’t safe in Cape Town. I will be back for her once the problem has been resolved.” Dom explained in an emotionless voice.
At the end of his explanation Beast moved away, apparently satisfied, and disappeared into the shadows while Hawk and Ice moved closer to the SUV.
“I need a name, Dom. Not going to allow some bitch through my gates without a name.”
There was a beat of silence. Then a soft mumble from the back of the SUV.
“Victoria Keating.” Dom’s emotionless voice gave them the name.
Hawk looked at Ice and shrugged, the name meant nothing to him. He would get Ziggy to look into her as soon as possible.
Dominick Maingarde was a fucking machine. Everyone was under the impression he cared about nothing and nobody, and here he was saving someone close to his sister. Why? Regardless of the reason it looked like he did care about someone. Good to know.
Hawk turned when he heard boots hitting the paving. All his officers were here. Fuck it. He was going to do this right here. They moved away from the vehicle and formed a tight circle around him.
“Dom brought me information of a planned attack on club interests. Plus he is offering to take care of our bitch problem. In return he wants us to watch over a woman who is important to Pixie and him. What do you think?”
“Do we trust him, Prez?” Spider asked softly.
“As much as we can trust a crime boss, Spider.”
“I want that bitch out of our Sanctuary. Let him take her and rid us of a problem.” Ice said coldly.
There were nods around the circle agreeing with him.
“So what will it be? Yes or No?” Hawk asked.

“Beast, Spider and Sin, you get the bitch ready for transport. Kid, you and Ziggy settle our guest in upstairs. Use the secure guestroom. We need to know exactly who she is and we won’t until Ziggy can do a deep dive into her tomorrow.”
Hawk immediately walked back to the SUV.
“Pull into the open garage right at the end. Don’t get out of the vehicle. My men will take her into the clubhouse and settle her in. The package will be brought to you. Ice and I have to get back before people notice we’re not at the party. Thanks for this, Dom. I won’t forget it and we’ll keep your girl safe, you have my word.”
Dom gave a short nod. “Thank you, I appreciate this, Hawk. I’ll be in touch soon.”
Hawk and Dom stared at each other unblinkingly, then Hawk nodded and with Ice at his side he went back to celebrate his VP’s engagement.
