He looked down at her and she looked up at him with a promise in her eyes. Wordlessly she put her lips to his rigid penis and began sucking and licking his shaft. His knees buckled slightly and he felt as if all of the stars were crashing down on him. He’d never felt such a pleasant sensation before. Her soft lips found his most delicate parts and as she sucked him off, he suddenly had the desire to be inside her, to give her every ounce of strength he had. He stepped away from her and gave her a wicked grin. Trent then lowered himself to her and placed his hand on her shoulders gently stretching her out in the middle of the boat against the soft blankets they’d placed down earlier in the evening. He warmly nuzzled her neck and looked into her dazzling eyes once again before cooing in her ear, “I’m going to give you a night to remember.”

Kristina responded by digging her nails into his back as he began his assault on the sensitive areas of the sides of her neck before making his way to her ample breast. He was pleased to discover her nipples were already hardened by both the night air as well as her own arousal before he took one into his mouth and sucked gently, running his tongue along its ridges before moving on to the opposite one, delivering the same treatment with his already warm mouth. Kristina moaned underneath him and ran her hands down his back, daring to grab his firm buttocks in response. She reached underneath him and surprised him by cupping his balls in her hands and gently massaging them, sending a shockwave of excitement through his body. “Fuck, Kristina!” He couldn’t manage to say anything else and knew that she was ready to take it to the next level.

Trent quickly dropped lower to her and wasted no time in parting her thighs with his arms and dipping his head to her lower regions. There he could smell her arousal and she lightly bucked her hips against him, indicating that she was ready for him to please her. Parting her folds with his tongue, she gasped and moaned into the night as he lavished her with attention, quickly finding her bundle of nerves and delivering lick after lick to the part of her body that was craving his delicate touch. He watched as her knees shook and she bit her bottom lip to avoid screaming out in desire. In that action he felt as if he had truly found his purpose in life. He only wanted to see her in nothing but pleasure from that moment on.

Unable to contain himself any longer he shifted his position once more and swiftly entered her with his engorged cock. Kristina gasped in shock at first then she relaxed into her own pleasure and before long they ended up developing a rhythm. Trent grunted primitively as he focused on her desire with his strong thighs trusting against her in hopes of finding her secret spot. Kristina met his thrusts with her own and flexed her pelvic muscles tightening against him until sweat beaded up on her forehead and she raised her arms above her head, clutching for the sheets that weren’t present. She was coming undone quickly and Trent was lavishing every moment. “Fuck Trent! That’s it….oh my God!”

After a series of starts and stops of slow thrusts followed by a series of quick, hard motions, Kristina cried out once more into the night and Trent finally grunted one final time, falling hard against her and the bottom of the boat. They both then curled against one another and pulled the blankets up around themselves. The moon hadn’t gotten any fuller and Kristina was right. The fish hadn’t taken any of the bait. While looking up at the stars, Trent pulled Kristina close to him once more and let her hair fall around him in waves. He kissed the top of her forehead and then her lips softly, “So is that what you expected?”

“No. Not at all Trent. In fact, it was better than what I expected. You’re keeping a very good secret there.”

  “Oh yeah, what’s that?”

“You’ve a really good lover, do you know that?”

“Pfft. That’s what all the girls say.”

  “Really, somehow I doubt that.”

  “No, you’re right. I wouldn’t know.”

  “Are you telling me--?”

“Yeah. You were my first …well anything ya know. That was amazing though, I think I’ll actually remember this.”

“Well you certainly gave me a night to remember Trent. Thank you.”

“So I guess this means we can’t be friends anymore right?”

  “Why do you say that?”

“It’s what people do isn’t it? They sleep together then all of a sudden things get weird and they drift apart and they’re never to be seen again?”

“No…wow. Oh Trent. No…that’s ridiculous it doesn’t have to be like that. Where are you getting these ideas from?”

“What I’m saying is if we’re not going to be together I think it’s obvious what the next step is.”

“Wow. You’re getting way too serious Trent. Listen um…let’s not spoil the rest of the night with getting bogged down with the details. We’ve got all our lives to plan the future. Things have a way of working themselves out naturally….trust me.”

Trent reluctantly got up out of bed, still smelling Kristina’s scent on his pillow. He trusted her, but at the same time he knew even in his youth that she wasn’t his. She’d never be his completely her soul was too wild to be settled. She needed every night to be filled with a certain magic to be content and while Trent was many things we was certainly no magician. Kristina went on to make her way in the world and dated several different people. She jumped from one relationship to another. She dated doctors, lawyers, rock stars, artists, and even accountants. Every single one was the one until they weren’t. He smiled and shook his head thinking of her and remembering that night in the boat. He discovered that she wasn’t lying she did leave him a present in the kitchen. “Well fuck me, Kristina. Let’s see what you’ve done this time.”

There was a square box wrapped in solid black wrapping paper with a white ribbon tied around it. He gently unwrapped the ribbon to discover there was a smaller box inside of it. He opened and his mouth dropped. He wasn’t quite positive what to do with the gift that was inside, but he only hoped it was a promise of things to come. Inside there was a lingerie box with a white lingerie set as well as a smaller box with a hotel key. Inside there was a handwritten note as well. “Hey slugger. I think it’s been long enough, don’t you? If you’re serious about making amends why don’t you meet me tonight at the hotel room. Here’s the key. I’ll be wearing what’s in the box when you bring it. Oh and I suggest you pick me a up a bottle of my favorite wine to get on my good side. I’ve missed you more than you know. This will be the greatest birthday ever, I’ll make it a night to remember.—K.”

Trent took the box and the hotel key and sat it on the counter in the kitchen. He then walked to the coffee pot and decided to make himself a cup. The steaming liquid cleared out his sinuses and somehow brought him back to his senses. Though he was flattered by Kristina’s offering, there was something amiss. She wasn’t one apt to make amends or even recount old flames. Something was definitely wrong, he just needed to figure out what. She did say she was on a job. He’d like to think though, if this were part of a job and she needed help that she’d know to contact him and he’d oblige. Either way he only had one decision he could make and that was the right one. He’d be at the hotel that night after he did his own private detective work. He was a gambling man and if luck be a lady, that lady was always Kristina.

Trent shook his head and left the box where it was sitting. He knew that he should have time to return for it later. He’d take the day to think about Kristina’s odd request. He did find it suspicious that after all this time she’d turn back up, especially with a request like that. He grabbed his jacket and keys, quickly putting his jacket on and stuff his keys and his wallet in the pockets. He was going to go visit an old friend at the deli to see if maybe he could figure out what her endgame was and who her mysterious new employer was. He really couldn’t be distracted with worrying about her safety. She may have been elusive and attractive, but she was also trouble most of the time and he’d had many black eyes and busted lips from brawls with ex-boyfriends to prove it. He had to focus if he wanted to get to the bottom of the
attack on Mrs. Pennini.

He exited his apartment still in his sweats and walked a few blocks to deli where he’d known some connections that went way back to when he was a young boy. When he would go there sometimes after school, the owner kept a close eye on him. He’d find out later that his father had orchestrated that. He hadn’t realized just what type of danger he was in from a very young age. His pop had did the best he could in making sure he lived a normal life, but at the same time he couldn’t risk being taken. He would have been considered a traitor and the Mikkelson’s wouldn’t have exactly accepted him back into their fold as family. Instead he would have been tortured and killed as they found necessary to do to any substantial enemy. Grisly stuff for a young boy to contend with, but that was his life. He couldn’t imagine it any other way. He opened the door and the bells jangled on Flannigan’s Deli door. He never knew why the old man insisted that ‘Deli’ be on the door, everyone knew it was a Deli if they’d lived in the city more than ten minutes. It was legendary. Flannigan made the best sandwiches in the world, but that was due to his diligence in making sure his ingredients were fresh. He baked his own bread and made his own dressings, insisting that no store bought mayonnaise could top his home sauce. He was right. It was the secret.

He was welcomed by a young man who stood at the counter in front of the cash register. He wore an apron and had a pencil stuck behind his ear. He was slack-jawed and seemed overwhelming disinterested in his work. He didn’t even say hello before Trent stepped up to the counter. He frowned and pulled the pencil from his ear and asked glumly, “What can I get for you today?”

“Um… geez. I don’t know anymore everything is always so good here. Listen is Pete in?”

  “Pete Flannigan?”

  “Yeah.”

“Yeah, he’s in the back. Hang on. Hey Pete! You got one out here.”He then put the pencil back behind his ear and walked to the far side of the counter, extending his legs over it and plopping down. He then pulled out his phone and began staring at it slack-jawed and disinterested. An older man approached the counter with a dish towel slung over his shoulder. He wore an apron and had various stains splattered across it. His brown hair was still thick and full. He wore wire-rimmed glasses and despite being around food all day long had a thin frame. His eyes were bright and happy as he broke into a full grin, seeing Trent. “Well I’ll be damned. Trent! How the hell have you been? It’s been a minute? Your dad and grandfather still doing okay?”

“Well…ya know, rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. Yeah… I live though. They’re doing really good. I just wanted to make an appearance and of course I’ve been craving a sandwich for months now, I’ve just been a little….preoccupied ya know.”

“Oh I know how it goes in your line of work. You want the special? You always want the special you cheap bastard.”

“Haha! Yeah, the special is fine.”

“Hey listen, Flannigan… I came to ask a couple things too you got a minute?”

“Yeah let me just get this jackass over here to work. Hey loser! Get in the back and make a couple specials for me and my friend here. I’m sitting down for a minute with him.” The same slack-jawed teenager lowered his head and sighed slowly shuffling to the back, grabbing a stray dish towel from the counter.

“So what’s up Trenton? You look a bit grave. I was hoping for a more fun-filled reunion.”

“Hey…um, you know all this is just between us, right?”

“Of course. That’s how we always do, why would that change now? I mean, your family, they’ve always been good to me and my family. So what has you all gravelly voiced?”

“There was an attack last night, Flannigan. You know Saul…?”

“Yeah. Everyone loves Saul. I catered a friend of his’s son’s birthday party a few weeks back. It was a load of fun.”

“You didn’t hear anything going on at that party I should know about did you?”

“Nah. It was just typical business and really there wasn’t even any hard stuff there. It was kids’ stuff mostly. A few beers here or there, nothing major.”

“Good. Saul though… well there’s been an attack on his family. Someone stabbed his wife. They felt the need to deliver a message to pop pop before then, something about Merry Christmas.”

“Oh shit. Oh man. Jesus fuck I hate to hear that. Saul….he loves his wife, I’m sure he’s not doing well. Is she okay? I mean will she recover?”

“They got a really good cardiac specialist working for them so yeah they expect her to recover but it will take months.”

“I’ll have to send a card… no no I’ll pay him a visit later. Jesus. What kind of world is it becoming?”

“I honestly don’t know, Flannigan. We don’t know what that message means, but I’d hate to see that Saul got hurt on account of our family, ya know. It was a very personal attack. I’m going to get to the bottom of it and make sure the bastard pays, but I don’t have enough intel about who did the deed.”

“I understand. I’ll keep an ear out.”

Before they had an opportunity to finish their conversation the teenager came out and quickly set their sandwich baskets down on the table. The subs were loaded with deli meats and cheeses. Of course, all the fixing were on there as well fresh shredded lettuce, sliced red onions, and healthy slices of tomato. Trent picked up his sandwich and took a hearty bite and then chewed slowly before smiling at Flannigan. “Fuck I’ve missed these. There’s just something about that mayo nowhere else can come close to.”

“Yep. That’s what tradition tastes like, Trent.”

“It’s sad I really wish we had better family traditions. Ours are just signature knife wounds or using a certain caliber weapon.”

“Eh… well your legacy you can either embrace it or rebel against it, but it’s in your blood so there’s really no point in running from it.”

“Hmm… I guess that’s true. I just feel so bad for Saul. I feel like we’re responsible for this attack.”

“What you have to realize Trent is all of these events were set in motion long ago. It’s not really a secret what happened with your adoption. Your grandfather and father made it known long ago that we were all to look after you. The Mikkelsons’ have been after you for years. After all, you’re the last remaining male of their bloodline. They need you to become part of their clan again or their entire legacy dies. So you could actually put an end to all of this by going back to them.”

“Yeah, but I’m not part of them. I never was. This is my family. After all, pop took care of me and my brothers they raised me from a pup. I’m not like the Mikkelsons’ I would never stab an innocent man’s wife. Not out of revenge for something that happened decades ago.”

“You sure about that Trent? I recall that time when a man came in here and tried to rob the place. God you were what twenty-something? You were a young pup. He pulled his gun out and you stood up and literally laughed in his face before grabbing his arm, slamming it on the counter and breaking it in three places. Then you knocked him out with a bottle of our homemade peppers. You sat down like it was nothing and finished your dinner before the cops showed up.”

“Hah! I do remember that. That putz. What idiot tries to rob a restaurant full of mobsters?”

“I guess he learned that day.”

Trent took another bite of his sandwich and chuckled. “I guess I see your point. I can get a little brutal when I’m angry. I’m not exactly cold-blooded though.”

“Hey…who are you seeing now? What happened to that hot, young waitress you were after what was her name?”

“Oh you mean Rachelle? Nah…that’s ancient history now.”

“Hmm… I thought you two kids were really going to make a go of it. What happened?”

“I guess she got bored. She just kind of stopped. She stopped calling, stopped coming by. I’m supposing she found some other dude to fuck in her off hours.”

“Ah, I’m sorry Trent that’s a damned shame. Oh well, your one
will come along no worries. Now I know you’re not going to eat that dill pickle, so hand it over. You never liked the damned things.”

“Hah! You’re right there, Flannigan. Here take it. Nah, I mean I’m not sweating Rachelle. Honesty I’m fine by myself. Besides in my line of work it’s easier. I don’t want no one up waiting for me to come home when one day I may not.”

“Wow. That’s really deep, Trent, but you can’t go all of your life living alone.”

“Oh yeah. It’s really not lonely. I have other interests than work. I watch baseball and the news. You know that when I have the opportunity I go to the movies too. Hey check this… last weekend I even went to the mall. Just to walk around and see what’s selling.”

“When was the last time you had a lady over for genuine companionship? Seriously.”

“Um… I don’t know I guess it would have been Rachelle. I mean yeah we talked about our day and stuff, but it was nothing serious. Besides there’s really not much to tell. I’m a boring guy, Flannigan. I guess that’s why she left.”
