She heard the door close, and then Gabriel arming the security alarm. She glanced up as he walked into the room.
Her heart skipped a beat. He looked so handsome and so sexy in his fitted tuxedo, even though several hours had passed since he had first put the suit on.
“I thought you would have gone upstairs,” he commented, watching her with a hazy look in his eyes, which she interpreted to mean that he was as eager for them to consummate their marriage as she was.
She smiled slowly.
“I was waiting for you to take me over the threshold of our bedroom,” she said, taking her lower lip between her teeth and watching him through her eyelashes.
He was there is a flash, gathering her up in her arms so quickly she felt dizzy.
She laughed. “Gabriel!”
“Who am I to keep my lady waiting?” he asked, nuzzling her neck.
She giggled and squirmed, almost falling out of his arms.
He held her tightly to his chest. “Whoa there, lassie!”
With her secure in his arms, he took long strides across the living room, took the stairs, two steps at a time, entered their bedroom and lay her, with as much care as if she were a newborn, down on the mattress.
He watched her in awe for a moment, then leaned down and kissed her lips tenderly as though it was for the first time. She reached up and looped her arms around his neck.
“Gabriel,” she breathed.
“Leia,” he said, dropping kiss after kiss on her lips as he drew her to him and pulled down the zipper of her dress. “My beautiful, darling wife.”
“I love you,” she said, suddenly overcome with the depth of feeling she had for this man.
“And I love you, Mrs. Walsh,” he said as he shrugged out of the jacket and tossed it across the room. “And I am looking forward to loving you for as long as we both shall live.”
He crawled into bed with her, and what happened next was beautiful and amazing. Just as God intended.
