Naughty Scot: Love Without Limits
Page 4
Even against five of McDonalds’ men, Thomas and I fair well. Other than a black eye and busted lip, I’m whole. And when the fight finally ends, I retrieve my missing sheep.
Night falls, and I wonder about Elsie and Brodie, alone in the big house. She’s probably irate. Leaving without a single word. What kind of idiot am I?
One night gone though, and I feel my chest tighten whenever I think of Elsie and Brodie. His rosy cheeks, her knowing smile.
Her body.
Naked.
Willing.
I’m the fool who walked away, who ended the best thing that ever happened to me before it even began.
We’re both exhausted by the time the fight ends - the pair of us bleeding and our horses needing to rest. There is no way I can get back to Elsie tonight.
But tomorrow, when I wake - I’ll set things straight.
* * *
The next morning I wake, my body filled with an aching need to see Elsie, to make right what I did the night before I left.
Thomas decides to stay at the auction. “Thank you,” I say. “For having my back.”
“We have to stick together, us Highlanders.”
He’s right. But there is something else we must do too - cherish our women and young. I never quite understood it before. I never laid with a woman and made a promise. Never quite understood the power a woman might hold over a man. But now I know. I need Elsie like I’ve never needed anything.
Riding home I make a plan.
As humiliating as it’ll be to tell her the truth, she needs to know that if I take her in my arms again, I won’t do it with a light heart. When she was with me, everything in the world felt right. But then I got scared, thinking she deserves more than a Highlander who doesn't know his way around a woman.
Let alone, a woman as beautiful, as pure, as Elsie.
I felt like a fool leaving her room the other night, my cock as stiff as a board. I had pumped my shaft, gotten off to relieve the aching in my balls. It took seconds once I was in my room to come. As I got off, thinking of Elsie’s pretty pink pussy, I realized I was being an arse.
I walked downstairs with the intent of apology, but then I’d heard her soothing voice singing a Gaelic lullaby to Brodie and my heart damn near cracked. Elsie was an angel, way too good for a man like me. I’m gruff and cold - she is sugar, all sweet.
So I didn’t fix what I’d broken. Then I left town without a word.
But I will right my wrongs - one way or another.
I don’t expect to see the lass fly from the house with her arms spread out, welcoming me, but it’s more than unhappiness I see on her face when I dismount my mare. She marches toward me, fire in her eyes.
“You don’t look happy to see me, lass,” I say, meeting her halfway from the stable to the house.
“Happy?” Her jaw is set, and I can she’s ready to give me a lecture. “No, Kier MacKinnon, I’m not happy to see you.”
“You’re angry?” I lift a brow at her.
“You left me alone for twenty-four hours with no explanation. Alone with an infant, in the middle of the highlands, with no phone, no internet, no...” She tosses her hands in the air. “What if something happened?”
“Did something happen?” I flicker of panic washes over me. “Where’s the bairn? Is he all right?”
“Brodie is fine. He’s napping. But you can’t just...up and leave.”
“I knew he’d be fine with you, Elsie. You care for him better than anyone in the world.”
She crosses her arms, clearly conflicted. “What happened to your face?”
I touch my eye and wince. “It looks worse than it feels.”
She shakes her head at me. “You’re a father now, Kier. You can’t just go off and spend your nights drinking and fighting and...” There’s a flash of something that looks like jealousy in her eyes. “And God knows what else, or who else.”
“That’s what you think I was doing?” I take a step toward her. “You’re jealous?”
“I’m not.” She looks away.
“Lass, I didn’t want to leave you, I’d have much rather been in your bed then fighting to get my property returned to me. But I’m responsible for this croft, including the men and animals on it.”
Her lips are still pursed like she doesn’t believe me. I step closer, wanting to pull her into my arms, but she’s still angry. “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you,” I tell her.
She looks at me then, but she’s still frowning. “What happened, it shouldn’t have...” Her words go against the look in her eyes, the desire, and need. “We can’t...I won’t be a rebound.”
“You’re not a rebound, lassie.” I cup her cheek and lower my face to hers, taking in her sweet scent.
“But Brodie’s mom—”
“Was my sister.”
She pulls back, eyes wide. “What? Oh my god, is that why you don’t talk about her? You slept with your sister?”
“What? Christ, no, that’s not what I meant. I didn’t...” I drag my hands over my face and take a deep breath, then start over again. “Brodie is my nephew. I didn’t know my sister was even carrying a bairn until the social worker dropped him off and told me Mollie had passed away giving birth to him.”
Chapter Eight
Elsie
The last day and night I’ve been an utter mess. Yesterday I paced the porch, Brodie in my arms, looking over the hill, half expecting Kier to come riding over the crest and return.
He never did. Finally, Gregor had enough sense to tell me he was gone for the night with the neighbor.
“Where did they go?” I asked him.
“Don’t know, Elsie. But he wouldn't go if it weren’t important.”
I huffed at that. What is more important than his son?
Now I see he was able to go because he implicitly trusted me with Brodie.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I ask, still so upset. He left me high and dry, he wasn’t thinking at all.
He sighs, glancing around at the hills and land that surround us. “I want to raise the boy as my own. He deserves a father, to carry the MacKinnon name with pride. I’ve already filed the papers to adopt him. I don’t want him to know any different.”
I chew on her bottom lip. “It’s honorable, what you’re doing.”
“I’m no saint by any means, lass.” He sets his hands on my waist and draws me close.
“I was scared, Kier. I don’t know this land, this place is so unfamiliar.”
“You’re right, I left without a second thought. It took a man busting my face in two to realize.”
“Realize what?”
“That I dinna want to lose you. Not when I just found you.”
“Kier.” I shake my head, his words catching me off guard. “I’m not sure about the women you’ve dated before, but I’m soft, I take things personally and the other night, you rejected me. Now you want me?”
“Other women?” He groans. “Elsie, dontcha see, there is no one else, never has been.”
“Never?” My eyes widen, and from the look on his face I know he’s telling me the truth.
“Never.” He swallows, running a hand over his thick beard. “I got scared Elsie, of messing up. Because I’m a virgin too. And I thought I’d be a bachelor, living alone in a cottage forever, without running water. But now I’ve met you and I’m hoping for more.”
“What?” I press my hands to his chest, scrutinizing him, looking this chiseled man over. “How is that possible? I mean look at you.”
He chuckles, then says against my ear, “Have you glanced in the mirror lately? There isn’t a man alive who wouldn’t want you in his bed, lass.”
“But that’s different.”
“Why?” He tilts his head and smirks. “Because you’re a woman? Or because I’m a man? Why did you save yourself?”
My cheeks burn and I look away before saying, “My friends and I made a pact when we were younger, that we wouldn’t give our V-card to just any
one. That we had to believe that the guy was the...the one.”
“The one, huh?” he asks, tilting my chin up so I meet his gaze. “And you were willing the other night to give me your...” He smiles. “V-card.”
I nod, feeling emotions swell in my chest. “What about you? Why have you waited?”
“For a similar reason. I’ve always believed that a man should belong to only one woman. When I give myself to someone, it’s a commitment, a vow, and that’s something I’ll never break. I don’t want to mess things up with you, Elsie.”
“This is crazy,” I say softly, overwhelmed with his words...their implications. I step back, trying to gather my thoughts. “I need to check on Brodie. He’ll be waking up soon from his nap.”
He doesn’t stop me when I turn and rush back into the house. I know he saw the flicker of fear in my eyes, the realization of what his words meant. And I wish I could give him the same promise back. But this isn’t my home, and I’m not sure it ever will be. I committed to three months here, but I heard what Kier was offering - forever. Am I willing to give up my country, my family and friends for this man, for a land that is still so unfamiliar?
Chapter Nine
Kier
I know I scared Elsie when I talked about commitment. It’s too much to ask her to stay, to give me promises of all her tomorrows, even though that’s what I’m willing to offer.
So, I don’t push. I enjoy my time with her, spending more time around the house than I ever had before. I try to make the place as comfortable for her as I can. Men come to install a landline so that she can make calls home. The wifi takes a bit longer, but as soon as it’s up and running she shows me how to video chat through something called Facetime and I meet her friends.
“Oh my god, he’s so cute,” the one called Dina says, like I’m not sitting right beside Elsie.
Elsie hushes her, “He can hear you.”
“I know, and I’ll say it again, he’s hot. I’m so jealous. I want my own Scottish Highlander to keep me warm at night. Instead, I’m being sent to England to live with some stuffy earl.”
Elsie shifts on the couch beside me, tucking her feet beneath her. “I’m sure it’ll be fun. And it’s only for three months, right?”
“True.” Dina sighs. “Speaking of which, you’re coming home in a month, right?”
“I uh...” Elsie glances over at me. “I’m not sure yet.”
“Oh my god,” Dina says, and I see her on the screen, eyes wide. And she whispers loud enough for me to hear. “You’re in love with him.”
“Dina,” Elsie says harshly.
I tense, waiting for her to respond. Hoping she doesn’t deny it.
But the lass just shakes her head, and mutters, “I’ll call you tomorrow,” before ending the call. She puts her phone off to the side and picks up her book, starting to read like nothing just happened.
“You didn’t answer your friend’s question,” I say, turning to her.
“What question?” She doesn’t look at me, keeping her nose buried in her book, but I see the tips of her ears turn red.
“Have you decided if you’re going to renew your contract?”
She lets out a shaky breath, then closes her book. “I’ve thought a lot about it.” She’s frowning, which isn’t a good sign.
“And?” I take her hand. “You know I want you here, lass. But I also want you to be happy. I’ll respect your decision.”
I’ll lose a piece of my heart if she leaves, but I don’t tell her that. She needs to make this choice without feeling guilt for leaving Brodie and me.
Her fingers twine with mine and she says softly, “I don’t want to renew my contract.”
And with those words my soul is shredded.
“Okay, lass,” I breathe out.
“I don’t want to be here as a nanny.”
“I understand—”
“No. I don’t think you do. I don’t want to be your employee anymore, but I also don’t want to leave.”
It takes me a second to understand what she’s saying. “You want to stay?”
She nods. “More than I’ve ever wanted anything, Kier. I want...”
I cup her jaw. “What do you want, lass?”
“I want you. All of you.”
“I love you, Elsie,” I tell her, needing her to know my truest heart.
“I love you too, Kier.” Her hair is loose around her shoulders, and her simple sundress is riding up on her hips and somehow this perfect woman loves me. Me. A mountain of a man who has spent his life holding back, showing restraint. Waiting.
Waiting for her.
“Ack, Elsie, you don’t know how good it feels to hear you say that,” I tell her, my hands on her cheek. “It’s all I want too.”
“Oh, Kier,” she whimpers. “It feels too good to be true.”
I smile, pulling her to my lap. Feeling more secure with Elsie in my arms than I do in my fields. And that’s saying something. “I can make you feel even better.”
She licks her lips. “Please,” she says, her voice a whisper, her arms wrapping around my neck. “Make me yours.”
I growl, lifting her up, in my arms and carrying her up the stairs. My stride is long, my heart pounds, and my cock is demanding. In my room, I lay her down. “I’ve waited long enough, and so have you. It’s time to make love, lass.”
She pulls off her sundress standing only in her white lace panties, a sheer bra - nothing else. She is exposed, offering herself to me. I strip quickly, needing to be next to her, with her, like I’ve never needed anything else before.
“You’re so beautiful, Elsie,” I tell her, leaning over. “So beautiful.” I unclasp her bra at the center, kissing her perfect, round tit. Her nipple sweet and hard. Her hand runs down me, finding my thick length, stroking me the way she did before. It feels so right, lying with her. The woman I love.
“This is how I imagined it,” she admits, running a hand through my thick hair.
“You’re not disappointed there aren’t candles and music?” I ask, my fingers moving between her legs, her entrance slick and so warm.
“I don’t want that, only the beating of our hearts.” She wraps her legs around me, her arms too, holding onto me as if for dear life. I won’t let go.
“That you have, love, my heart pounds for you.” I press her hand to my chest. “Feel that?”
She nods, biting her lip, her eyes glassy. “I love you so much,” she whispers as I lift her ass, easing my thick shaft inside her.
“I love you too,” I say, my voice hushed, reverent. I fill my lover up until she is whimpering beneath me. “I don’t want to hurt you, lass.”
“No, don’t stop, I’m okay,” she pants. “It’s just... so... much of you.”
“It’s all for you.”
With Brodie fast asleep there is nothing to take our attention from one another, from this moment. I move inside her, my darling girl kissing me eagerly as I hold her hips, pleasuring one another as we move as one.
It is a deeper connection than I imagined. And I’m so glad I saved myself for her and her alone. Her skin is hot, and her pussy is so wet, so willing. My cock throbs with heat as I fill my lassie up the way she needs. The way we both crave.
There is no doubt in my mind that she is my forever. It just took me a wee bit of time to realize I was being a daft fool. Scared, mostly. But there is nothing to fear when it comes to love.
We come together, the release for us both overwhelming and complete. My cum filling her up as her back arches, her deep moans the sweetest I ever did hear. She’s shaking with pleasure, my name on her lips, her tongue.
Panting, she looks up at me with those same glassy eyes filled with devotion. “Again?”
I nod, rolling her over so she is straddling me. “Forever.”
Chapter Ten
Elsie
When the woman at the nanny agency said that there was nothing more beautiful than the highlands in the summer, she wasn’t wrong. Not when Kier MacKin
non is standing in a field of purple heather, green hills and mist surrounding him.
Sheep graze in the distance, and two swans wade in the dark blue loch beside where Kier has set up a blanket and picnic basket.
I’ve been here for five months now, and I’ve never had such peace as I do with the decision to stay. But Kier has been acting off the last few days, more tense and worried than usual. And part of me fears that he’s having doubts.
I sit down on the blanket while Kier tends to the horse.
When I was preparing lunch, he came into the house, jaw set, and with the look of a man on a mission.
“Pack up the sandwiches, lass,” he said, not meeting my gaze. “I need to take you somewhere.”
“Why? What’s wrong?”
He hadn’t answered me, just helped me place the food in a small basket, then led me to the stables and helped me up on his mare.
“What about Brodie?” I asked.
“Gregor will keep an eye on the bairn.”
He’d been silent as we rode here, just as he is now. Pensive. Quiet. His muscles strained. But even with the uncertainty of why he brought me here, I can’t help the warmth that spreads throughout my body when I watch him. Even in the vast landscape that surrounds us, he’s large, powerful, a true Highlander.
Again, I feel the sense that I’m taken back in time. It’s a magical land where dreams come true, and strangers fall in love, and girls like me get their happily ever afters.
At least I hope so. The way Kier is pacing now, I’m wondering if he brought me here to tell me he’s had second thoughts about us.
“You’re sure Gregor is okay with Brodie?” I ask, fidgeting.
Kier sits down beside me, glancing out at the loch. “Aye. We won’t be gone long.” The muscles in his jaw twitch, and his gaze hard and filled with something I can’t interpret. “Do you like it here, lass?”
“It’s beautiful,” I tell him, resting my head on his shoulder.
