“Do you taste yourself?” Fuck Finn and his dirty talk.

“Yes,” I moan. I’m all breaths and moans and gripping fingers as I fly into another world because the slow-building pleasure he’s igniting in me is nothing like I’ve felt before.

I claw at his shirt, yanking it up as far as I can. Finn chuckles and helps me remove it as I fumble with the buttons.

  “Greedy,” he teases.

“Horny,” I respond and instantly regret it. My face flames, and Finn’s laughter booms. His fingers brush against my cheeks in a soothing way that contradicts the force of pleasure he provides.

“I think I can fix that problem.” He winks, holding his body over me. His head dips for a kiss before he sits back and does quick work of lifting the dress over my head.

  “Glorious,” he whispers.

When I arch my back and remove my bra, Finn bites his knuckles. The way he looks at me makes me feel like the most beautiful woman.

“Give me a second.” His voice is hoarse. I nod and take in his naked chest—hard muscle, defined lines, the perfect V—while his eyes sweep over me. My tongue runs along my bottom lip with a mind of its own.

I sit up and lift my hand when Finn begins to speak. I work the buckle on his belt, moving up to my knees so I can reach better. When I lower the zipper on his jeans, I look up to find Finn staring at me. Holding his gaze, I sneak my hand into the band of his underwear. Finn groans, dropping his chin to his chest when my palm moves over his cock in the constricted space.

  “Take off your jeans.”

“Anything you want.” That crooked grin appears on his face. Standing from the bed, I watch in fascination as Finn toes off his boots and undresses. I crawl to the end of the bed and reach for his cock, moving my hand over it in long, slow strokes. The sounds Finn makes encourage me to move faster, stroking his length.

“That… God, Abbie.” His hand lands over mine, guiding me. “We gotta stop, though… Shit.” He takes a deep breath and steps away from my hold.

“I need you,” his deep voice blankets me. I nod and lie back, offering him what he so desires. “This is how I’ve imagined you, spread out on my bed for me.”

My breath catches as he moves over me and kisses me. He steals my breath through that kiss like a greedy man deprived of oxygen. A hand trails down my body, pinching and tweaking my nipples as it moves further down my body and reaches my core. My body arches off the bed when Finn rubs a finger over my clit.

“So wet,” he murmurs against my lips. A responding moan greets him as he continues to move over me and inside of me. My lower body raises from the bed when Finn curls his finger in my pussy, and I thrust my hips, needing more of that sensation.

“Soon,” he promises and reaches over to the nightstand. “I’ll give you more of that later, right now I need to feel you wrapped around my dick.”

My whimper stays trapped in my throat as Finn positions himself and pushes into me slowly. “So tight,” he grinds out through clenched teeth.

“It’s been a while,” I say, hooking my legs around his.

Finn groans as he pushes into me and stills when he’s completely inside of me. We stare into each other’s eyes. His fingers brush away my bangs from my eyes. Our breaths and pumping hearts are the only sound in the room as seconds tick by.

I wrap my arms around Finn’s neck, playing with his hair, as I smile up at him. “I like this.” My words are quiet as I adjust to his size.

“Me too.” He places his forehead against mine. “We should’ve…”

“Shhh… Kiss me,” I demand, and he does. Finn kisses me senseless as he begins to thrust his hips, his cock rubbing all the right places inside of me in languid strokes that make me shiver. I begin to move along with him, meeting his thrusts until the only thing that exists are Finn and me.

My body clenches and reacts to his. My mind becomes clear. The only thing that matters right now is the two of us together. The only thing I care about is us. The only thing I want is more of Finn, more of this, an eternity.

My heart halts at the realization that this is so much more than I first imagined, but my body continues to move with his, chasing the escape we both crave. And it hits me like a tidal wave. My climax slams into me, lifting me as my toes curl, and a string of nonsense leaves my lips. My damp body tenses and stretches as my orgasm takes over, dropping me into an abyss of pleasure that I don’t want to climb out of.

Finn thrusts a few more times, prolonging my release until he stills with a growl. The muscles on his back are tight against my palms as I hold him to me. He lowers his body, kissing me softly.

“I’m never letting you go,” he whispers as he rests his forehead against mine.

“I like the sound of that.” I look into his eyes, the dim room casting a shadow over his face.

“I’ll be right back.” Finn kisses my cheek and moves out of me, disappearing into a bathroom I hadn’t noticed before.

I get out of the bed on shaky legs and pick up our clothes from the floor.

“What are you doing?” I turn to find Finn’s confused expression.

“Putting them on the chair,” I reply.

“Oh, okay,” Finn sighs, strolling toward me. His arms wrap loosely around my waist. “I thought you were getting dressed to leave.”

I shake my head. “Thought you weren’t letting me go.” I grip his strong arms

He chuckles and kisses the corner of my mouth. “Exactly. Now, come to bed.”

I laugh when Finn slaps my butt before holding my hand and walking me to the bed, lying down next to me. I fall asleep with soft humming, and his gentle fingers stroking my hair.

  Finn

Last night with Abbie was amazing. Being with her makes me feel like a better man. She gives me a purpose beyond the ranch, a real possibility of settling down and building a home with someone. Something I haven’t been in a rush to do.

I run my fingers down her arm, and she trembles. I chuckle lowly as I watch her sleep on her stomach, hugging the pillow where her head rests. Her hair’s a mess spread around her, and her naked body peeks at me from under the covers.

“Finn.” I stop touching her when a deep growl comes from her.

  “Yes?”

“If you don’t stop tickling me, I’m going to withhold sex from you.” Her eyes are closed as she speaks. I’d never guess she was awake.

I laugh and scoot closer to her, pulling her into my arms. “Never.” I murmur against her hair as I kiss the side of her head.

Abbie turns and curls into me. “Let me sleep.” She digs her head into the crook of my neck, her breathing tickling me, and wraps an arm around my body.

“Fine.” I tighten my hold on her, wanting to always be this way. No rush. No distractions. No interruptions. Just Abbie and me in bed. The rest of the world could wash away, and I wouldn’t miss it as long as she is here.

I’m in deep. Much deeper than I ever imagined, but all it takes is for Abbie to give me that shy smile, and I’m a goner. It fills me with pride when she tells me how she feels. Everything about her is captivating me.

Abbie pushes her leg through mine, tangling them together, and my dick takes notice of her body. I close my eyes and focus on something else but feel her shoulders shaking. I look down at Abbie, peeking at me with one eye open and a quiet chuckle.

“You think you’re funny?” I squeeze my hand on her waist. To my surprise, she fucking moans, tipping her body into me. “Damn.”

I push my hips into her, and she moans again, the tip of my dick rubbing against her clit and her wetness spreading over me. Even in the morning, she’s ready for me.

When Abbie lifts her leg to drape it over mine, opening herself up to me underneath the blankets, my cock almost slides in. Blindly, I reach into the drawer of my nightstand and grab a condom. In no time, I’m ready for her. I hold her leg over my hip and thrust into Abbie, her cry urging me on.

I fuck her at a leisure pace, long, measured strokes moving i
n and out of her pussy. Her walls grip me, adding to my building pleasure. This woman. Her nails claw into my arms as she arches into me. The biting sensation on my skin drives my hips forward with more purpose.

We move together as our bodies writhe and tense until our climax hits.

“Now that’s what I call a good morning,” I joke once we’re both down from our orgasms.

Abbie giggles and slaps my shoulder. “It was a pretty good way to wake up.” Her pink cheeks call to me, and I cup them, dropping a kiss on her temple.

“How about we take showers, I take you home to change, and we have breakfast before going on our hike?”

“I like this plan. We need to find a place for the photo shoot.”

“Exactly.” I slap her ass. “Now, go jump in the shower. I’d join you, but we’d never leave the house.” I smirk with a wink.

“Trouble.” Abbie lifts an eyebrow and smiles.

“And damn proud of it,” I reply as she climbs her naked body out of my bed. I watch her as she walks into the bathroom and closes the door behind her.

I sigh and turn on my back, covering my eyes with my arm. Abbie is way too good for me, but I can’t help want her all for myself.

  …

After breakfast at Simply Syrup, the waffle house in town, I drive us toward a trail that I love, which leads to meadows, forested areas, and winding curves. It has all of the views Abbie might want for the photo shoot.

I park the car on the side of a dirt road.

“This looks pretty.” Abbie spins around, her camera hanging from her shoulder.

“I love this trail.” I reach for her hand and guide her down the path, both of us walking in silence.

Last night—and again this morning—we took our relationship to a new level, so she’ll never be just Averly’s best friend again. Yes, she’ll always be a woman I had sex with, but I meant it when I said I was never letting her go. While the slight fear kicks my heart into overdrive, there’s also an underlying excitement, a thrill being with this woman. I’ve never cared much about the morning after before, but then again, I haven’t been in a relationship in a long time. I thought I didn’t need anyone else in my life, and I’m proven wrong each day I spend with Abbie.

We walk along the desolate path with the sun high in the sky. August is coming to an end, and you can feel it in the air. A slight change, but working outdoors with animals, has trained me to pick up any change in the climate.

Abbie pauses, and I slow down. Her hand leaves mine as she grabs her camera, the click of a photograph being taken echoing around us.

“This is a great choice,” she sighs as she turns to me with a smile. I don’t have a chance to react before she takes a picture of me.

“Hey, give me a second to pose.”

“No, candid photos are the best.” She winks and continues walking.

Side by side, we move through the trail. “Do you have a preference for location? Like is it easier to have an open space instead of the forest?” I’ve never been good at taking pictures.

“It really depends. I can make any of it work. If it’s just before sunset, I prefer the meadow, though, so I can capture the light of the sun.

  “That makes sense.”

I watch her as she moves around, taking photos along our walk. She’s so confident behind that camera. I wish she only saw herself the way I do, the way I’m sure others do as well.

Right now, she’s in her element. She’s working with the camera, capturing pictures of anything that intrigues her, probably testing the lighting, who knows. But she’s in her world, doing what she is meant to do.

“Okay, I need your help.” She interrupts my thoughts.

  “Anything you need.”

“Stand here and look at me. I want to see how the trees would look as a backdrop.”

I go where she instructs, following her lead.

“Cute smile.” She winks, looking at the small screen on the camera.

  “All for you, babe.”

Abbie shakes her head as her smile grows. After a few more pictures, we continue walking down the trail. When we reach the meadow, Abbie gasps.

“This is beautiful.” She looks out at the mountains in front of us, separated by a deep valley.

“I know,” I say, moving behind her and wrapping my arms around her waist. I rest my chin on her shoulder.

“I knew you’d love it,” I whisper into her ear. Her body relaxes against my front, and her fingers lace into mine.

“I really like you, Finn Cooper.” Her voice is quiet, almost too quiet, but I hear her.

“I really like you, too, Abbie Murphy.” I kiss the crown of her head. Abbie could be it for me, and I wouldn’t have a single complaint about that.

“I think this would be perfect for the photo shoot with Cindy and Maverick. I can stop and take a few by the trees on the way here.”

Abbie turns around in my arms, a glorious smile reaching her eyes. The bright sun creates a halo around her. She looks like my very own angel, and I’m the fallen man unworthy of her.

“Thank you,” she whispers, hugging me tightly.

“For what?” I furrow my eyebrows.

“For bringing me here, helping me find a spot. For even caring about this silly experiment.”

I shake my head, tilting her chin up. “Of course, I care. Why wouldn’t I?”

“Because you’re Finn Cooper. This handsome big shot who could have any woman he wants.”

I cock my head and look at her as the furrow between my eyes deepens. “I wish you saw yourself the way I see you. You’re this sexy, yes sexy,” I emphasize when she rolls her eyes. “A sexy woman, smart, kind, funny, creative. Shall I continue? You care about those around you. You’re humble and observant. You make me a better person, so don’t you ever doubt why I want to be with you.”

Abbie drops her head between us. After a deep breath, she looks up at me with that beautiful smile again. “You make me feel sexy.” Her voice is low, and her cheeks turn pink. “I’ve never felt that way before. Cute, yeah, but not sexy.” She shakes her head.

“Get used to it.” I smooth my hands down her back and over her ass, pulling her to me. Abbie laughs when I waggle my eyebrows. My job is done if I turned that doubtful frown into a carefree smile.

“Sorry,” she shrugs. “I don’t mean to be insecure. I’m just used to being more of the quiet, nerdy girl.”

“Those are the most dangerous ones,” I wink.

Her throaty laugh shoots straight to my dick. “How about we go to Sundae Bliss?”

“Yes!” She jumps. I want her back in my bed, in my home. I want her perfume to become the permanent scent in my life. I want this woman, period.

Abbie tells me again what ice cream flavors and toppings she’s going to order when we get to Sundae Bliss. I heard it all last night, but her excitement is contagious.

When we finally walk toward Sundae Bliss, Abbie is practically skipping. I chuckle softly, and she shoots me a glare. Giving her my best smile and a wink, we walk into the ice cream shop. A few people say hello and wave as we stand in line. My arm drapes over Abbie’s shoulder as we wait for our turn.

“Oh, my God. It’s true. I didn’t believe it when Emily told me.” My eyebrows pinch together as I look at the girl standing next to us and then at Abbie. She shakes her head and shrugs.

“He’ll leave you, just like he did to my sister.” The girl rolls her eyes and walks away with a hair flip. Abbie tenses next to me.

I stand in shock, not sure what the fuck just happened. I have no idea who that girl was, but she’s clearly someone who goes to high school with Emily. For the life of me, though, I can’t place who her sister might be.

I turn to Abbie. “Ignore her,” I beg as I find her frown and slumped shoulders. “It’s probably just someone looking for revenge in the name of her sister. I don’t even know who she is.”

Abbie nods slowly and looks away, pretending she’s looking at the list of flavors o
n a board on the wall. She can’t fool me. She’s been talking about what she’s going to order since last night. I reach for her hand and give it a small squeeze.

“Are you okay?” I whisper. She nods. I can’t imagine what she’s thinking, and I wish I had the superpower to read her mind right now. I probably wouldn’t handle it very well if the situation were reversed. She must be spinning stories in that pretty mind of hers, but I refuse for my past to screw this up.

It’s pure torture waiting in line, and when it’s our turn to order, I want to jump the counter and make the ice cream myself, so I can get Abbie out of here and somewhere we can talk without an audience.

“Thank you.” The words rush out as I get my change and drag Abbie outside with me.

“Whoa.” She stands her ground, tugging me back abruptly. “What the hell?”

I turn around and take the few steps to close the gap between us. “Sorry.” I close my eyes. When I blink them open, Abbie’s soft gaze pierces into my eyes.

“I wanted to talk about what just happened. In private.”

“Finn, we’ll talk about it, but don’t drag me like a madman and make me almost drop my ice cream.”

“What are you thinking?” My eyes flicker between hers.

“I was shocked that a girl would come up and say that to us. I know you’ve been with a lot of women, but I didn’t really want it thrown in my face like that. Is the entire town waiting for you to forget about me, too?”

“What? No.” I shake my head, cupping her cheek with my free hand. “You’re not like other women. This is different.”

“How do you know?” She shrugs with a small head-shake.

“Because it is. I’ve never felt for someone what I feel for you. After I go out with a woman, I never get excited to see her again. With you, I can’t get enough. Every time I leave your house, I feel like I haven’t had my fill of you yet. You make me feel like a better man.”

“What about when you get tired?” Her green eyes stare at me with stubbornness.

“I won’t.” I shake my head, curling my fingers around her cheek.

  “You can’t guarantee that.”

“You’re right. I can’t know what I’ll be feeling a year from now. What I feel right now is only relevant to the experiences we’ve had up to this moment, and feelings change and evolve. Come tomorrow, or next week, or the next three years, my feelings for you will be different, but hopefully, they will be stronger.”
