“How much time do you think we have before the others get back?” she asked.
Wayne glanced at the watch on his hands. It was half past ten. They were in a house Simeon had acquired for them. The others had gone out on a reconnaissance mission, to check out the venue for the rendezvous and ensure that they were not taken by surprise. Wayne had been left behind for obvious reasons and they had all agreed that Emily would also stay to cover his back, if the need arose. He did not expect them back for a while.
“We should have an hour or so,” he replied.
“Jeez. I wonder what we can do in one hour?” she said with a mischievous smile as she ran a finger over his shirt lapel.
Wayne caught her hand and waited till she lifted her gaze to his.
“Em, I want you badly. I want to taste every inch of you. I want to make love to you, hard. Pounding inside you over and over until you scream my name. Then repeat it all over again, this time slowly sliding inside you an inch at a time.” It did not seem possible, but her pupils dilated even more and her lips parted in a silent gasp. “But I need to be sure this is what you want. Is this what you want, Em?”
She shut her eyes briefly then opened them again. Very slowly, she nodded.
Wayne shook his head gently, “No, Em. I want to hear you say it. Tell me if you want me as badly as I want you.”
She met his gaze and the need he saw there almost brought him to his knees. There was no doubt that she wanted him with almost as much desperation as he wanted her. He could read it in her eyes. But for some weird reason he could not explain, he needed to hear her say it.
“Tell me,” he said when she still remained silent.
“If you don’t take me inside and have your wicked way with me right now, I’ll be forced to have my wicked way with you,” she answered in a husky voice. “Does that answer your question?”
“Without a doubt,” he said, and with one swoop, he got to his feet, holding her securely in his arms.
Emily twined her arms around him and rested her head on his chest. The action brought a lump to Wayne’s throat. It had been so long since she’d looked at him with anything but hatred and disdain, and to have her staring at him like he hung the moon was quite emotional for him. He vowed then that he would do his damndest to not disappoint her. Starting now.
He walked briskly to the bedroom where he’d seen her drop her stuff earlier. Very gently, he placed her on the bed, then knelt down beside it. Her top rose up, exposing her midriff. He trailed his fingertips over the exposed part of her flesh and felt her tremble in response.
“Wayne?”
He lowered his head to where his hand had just been and lightly ran his lips over her tummy.
“Hmm?” he murmured against her skin. It felt soft and was as smooth as satin. He licked the sexy indentation that was her belly button and she gasped.
“Hurry.”
She spoke in a whisper, but it was clearly a command. One that he was more than happy to fulfill. He made short work of her pants, pulling them down along with her underwear. The sight of her moist curls caused a low growl in his chest. He really wanted to hurry, but there was no way in hell he could pass up tasting her. He grabbed a pillow at the end of the bed and slipped it under her so that he had unfettered access to her core.
“W-what are you doing?” he heard her ask.
Wayne licked his lips hungrily as his eyes devoured her secret place.
“Feasting,” he replied and then lowered his head.
Chapter Eleven
Emily held fistfuls of the sheets as she panted from the intensity of the pleasure. Her head thrashed from side to side and she could not keep in the moans that were coming from her mouth. She had no idea what Wayne was doing, but it was driving her crazy. He came at her with his lips, his tongue, his fingers…it was a full frontal attack and she was completely defenseless…unable to resist.
Not like she wanted to resist.
Oh no. She welcomed the rush of pleasure that flowed through her. She had forgotten how much she loved being with him. He knew her body so well, even after all this time, and he played it like an expert guitar player, strumming the right strings until he elicited the exact notes he wanted to hear.
She felt his tongue flick her clit and bucked off the bed.
“Oh, shit…” she moaned. “Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.” It was almost too much to bear. She moved her hand to his head and sank her fingers into his hair. She could feel her orgasm building.
When his fingers joined his tongue again, she felt her control slip.
“More, Wayne…more.” she said, moaning his name as she moved her hips to the rhythm he had set.
Wayne began to make groaning sounds. Like he found the taste of her extremely delectable. He hummed and licked and sucked until she began to sob at the potency of the desire that was so close to overpowering her senses.
She forgot everything, except the pleasure that was building. Wayne’s hands slipped behind her and cradled her backside. He kneaded the flesh softly, using the action to bring him into even closer contact with her core.
“I can’t…” Emily panted as she thrashed uncontrollably. “I can’t…Oh God! Yes…Just like that…Oh…Wayne…Yes. Yes! Yesss!” She was incoherent as the rush of pleasure slammed against her.
She was unable to contain the scream that tore out of her as her climax took her high to the top of the cliff and then shattered her.
She was still sobbing when she felt him move. Then he was on top of her and kissing her like he could not get enough of her. Emily tasted herself on his lips and it sent a zing through her blood. The eroticism of it all had her hungry to have more of him. She wanted him with a desperation that was like fire in her blood. She’d never felt so wanton, so strangely powerful, in her life.
Her hands impatiently reached down and she was surprised to see that he had gotten rid of his pants as well. She reached for his manhood and as her fingers closed over it, she sighed. He was rock hard, yet smooth, like a sheath of velvet over steel. He was as large as she remembered. And if he was not inside her soon, she was going to go crazy.
“Condom,” she said urgently.
Wayne froze.
Her eyes flew to his.
“I don’t have any,” he said, looking shell shocked. “I didn’t plan any of this, Em…”
“Shush, it’s okay.” She let go of his erection and cupped his face with her arms. Then she kissed him. It was slow and deep and tender. She never did this and she hesitated briefly. But this was Wayne and she did not think she could go another moment without his filling that empty, throbbing place that ached for him.
“I’m on the pill and I’m clean.”
His gaze was intent. “I’m also clean.”
“Then I don’t see a problem.”
“You don’t mind?”
Emily almost laughed. Her tongue darted out to moisten her dry lips. If he did not hurry up, she was going to flip him over and have her way with him. She opened her legs wider until his hardness settled right over her core. She parted her lips, her body on fire.
“Make love to me, Wayne.”
His mouth tipped up in a brief smile. “With pleasure,” he said before taking her mouth in a passionate kiss.
He reached down and guided his erection to the entrance of her core. Then with a single thrust, he pushed in. It was a tight fit. The head went in and they both moaned at the pleasure. He paused and Emily felt the walls of her vagina expand to accommodate him.
“Oh baby, you’re so tight,” he grunted.
Emily moaned. It had been a while. She had not been completely celibate, but in the last couple of years, she’d lost interest in sex completely. She bit her lip as she spread her thighs further apart to take him in fully. He slid out, then pushed in again until he was buried to the hilt. She shut her eyes tight, the feeling running through her was sublime. She held him to her and they both stayed that way for a few seconds, not moving. She felt tears slip out of the
corner of her eyes. It had been so long since she’d been with him like this and it felt so right.
So damn right.
Wayne braced his arms on the bed on each side of Emily so that his weight was not resting on her, then he began to move. As badly as he wanted her, he wanted this moment to last forever, so he took his time, slowly moving in and out of her. He gritted his teeth in the effort to maintain control. He was not going to lose control even though he so desperately wanted to. He leaned down and took the tip of one of her breasts in his mouth, then sucked hard.
“Oh god!” Emily moaned, moving in a way that brought him deeper inside her.
It was almost too much for Wayne’s fragile control, and when she brought her hands to his back and sunk her nails into him, he lost it. Slipping his hands to her backside, he held her securely and began to drive into her like a man possessed.
Emily lost her ability to think, to reason…all she could do was get lost in the pleasure as he drove hard into her.
“More… Harder…” she moaned, wrapping her legs around him and matching his crazy thrusts with hers.
“So sexy…Emily…Emily…” Wayne groaned her name with each thrust.
Emily knew she was about to come and come harder than she’d come in a long time. She held on to him, trying to find a rock to steady her.
“Look at me, Em,” Wayne commanded. “Open your eyes and look at me.”
With much difficulty, she slid her lids open halfway. His eyes were a stormy blue and his face was strained with the effort to maintain control. When she gazed into his eyes, the past became insignificant. She felt his soul reach out to hers in an embrace that made her want to choke up again. No matter how distant they’d grown, their hearts still recognized each other. It was a very emotional moment for Emily and that was when her orgasm hit her.
“Oh! Oh!” She opened her eyes wide in shock. It was too much.
It came upon her slowly and gradually, then quickly spiraled. She went still and gasped at the intense wave that swept her up. She held on to Wayne and no matter how hard she tried, she could not keep her eyes open again. Sparks of fire went through her as wave after wave of her climax rolled over her. Each time she thought it was over, he would move inside her and set off another orgasm. In the background, Emily heard a female voice screaming over and over again. She also heard Wayne.
“Oh shit!” he said as he came with a shout.
She felt his seed pumping into her and it triggered another climax. After a few moments, he sank down to the bed beside her.
Slowly, she came down from the high as the sex-induced haze began gradually to clear. She opened her eyes to find Wayne’s sapphire blue eyes gazing intently at her. Seeing him looking so happy, something shifted inside her.
“Hey,” she said in a whisper.
“Hey yourself,” he said, his mouth tipping up in a smile.
“That was amazing.”
He brushed her hair from her face in a tender gesture. “You are amazing.”
Emily stretched and stifled a yawn. She had not felt so… she searched for a word… content? Yeah, content, in so long. She wanted to say something, to tell him how she felt. But words failed her. So she simply said, “Thank you.”
Wayne cocked an eyebrow. “What for?” he asked.
Emily shrugged and shifted her eyes away. What could she say? For the best sex she’d had in ages? For reminding her that they still had so much going for them? For being there with her and giving her comfort…? There was so much she could say and it would not fully express the overflow of emotions in her heart. So she reached up and kissed him.
“Just…thank you.”
His eyes softened and he kissed her back.
“Emily, I want—”
At the same time, she also spoke.
“We should probably get dressed.”
He frowned in confusion. “What?”
“I said we should get dressed, you know, before the others get here,” she said but did not make any move to get up.
Still, some of the light in Wayne’s eyes deemed a little.
“Is that what you want?”
“Well, we wouldn’t want them to find us like this, right?” She didn’t understand why he was even asking.
He was silent for a while, then he rolled to the edge of the bed and got to his feet.
“You’re right. We should,” he said at last.
He seemed upset about something. No, upset was the wrong word. More like disappointed. As he turned to move, she touched his hand. He shifted his gaze to hers, with an eyebrow lifted in inquiry.
“Is everything okay?”
Wayne shrugged. “Yeah.”
“You were about to say something?”
He shook his head. “Nothing important.”
She could not say why, but she got the feeling that was a lie. Whatever he’d planned to say had been important. After several moments, she withdrew her hand. Something was obviously up, but he did not seem ready to talk to her yet. Her first instinct was to let it go, but she knew she could not do that. They had connected in a way they had not been able to for more than seven years. Whatever they’d had between them was still there. And though she still wasn’t sure she could completely forgive his actions, she was willing to try.
As she pulled on the clothes that they had so hastily discarded, Emily thought about lots of things. She tried to examine her feelings for Wayne. They were still there, but were they enough to get them past this time…past all that had gone down between them?
And what about his feelings for her? She could not say what they were one way or another. She knew that great sex did not automatically mean that they had something between them, but she was no spring chicken. She knew the difference between great sex and what they’d shared. What they had between them was beyond amazing. Yet, she was confused. And Emily hated being confused.
“We need to talk,” she said abruptly.
**
Wayne stood facing the mantelpiece with his back to Emily. They were back in the living room once more and the tension between them was thick enough to slice with a knife. Tension was the last thing he wanted between them, but he had no idea what had set her off. He did not have to close his eyes to remember the way she felt, or the look in her eyes when she’d gazed at him. No matter what she said afterward, he knew that Emily still had feelings for him.
The thought made his heart soar.
He had not dared hope that they would ever get here. To sharing a bed. Making love. Before now, she would not even speak to him. As much as he’d loved her, he had known that she’d treated him the way he deserved. And he had kept his distance.
Now, however, all that had changed.
He could not go back to the aching loneliness that was his life without Emily. This time, he was not letting her go. Oh no. He was going to show her that they were perfect together. They had always been. He would get her to fall in love with him once more. He would…
“Wayne!”
He turned around at the impatient tone in Emily’s voice.
“Huh?”
“I asked you a question.”
She did? He’d been totally lost in his plans to get her to care for him as deeply as he cared about her. He hadn’t heard a word she’d spoken. Not a great way to get her to fall in love with him.
“I’m sorry…I missed that. What was it you said?”
She sighed, “I would like to know where you think we’re going from here.”
He blinked. That was an odd way to phrase the question.
“Where I think we’re going?” he asked.
She nodded.
“I don’t understand.”
She got up and walked to where he was standing, halting right in front of him.
“We have to work closely together and if we have a hope in hell of getting Kendra out, we need to be in sync. I just don’t want any misunderstandings between us.”
Wayne was starting to get pissed. He didn’t
know why, after all her question was perfectly logical and made lots of sense. Okay, so he knew why. He did not want logical and sensible. He wanted passion and feelings. He wanted them to discuss how they felt about each other and a future together. Instead she was rapidly putting a distance between them. It was frustrating.
“What are you trying to say? Go ahead and spell it out.”
He knew his voice was harsh, but he could not help himself. She blinked at him then bit her lower lip, a move that had him immediately mesmerized.
“I don’t know what I’m trying to say, Wayne.” He heard the frustration in her voice. “I know there’s something going on between us, but the timing is off.”
Okay, so he should not really be surprised that she’d given it to him straight. She’d always been a straight shooter, literally and figuratively.
“I don’t want to lose you again, Em,” he said, deciding to take her tact.
She took a step back, but not before he saw the emotions cloud her eyes.
“I don’t know, Wayne. There’s too much baggage between us, I’m still not sure if I can trust you. We’ll need to talk things through and right now, we just don’t have that time.”
She was right. He knew she was right. But, damn, it hurt like hell. He nodded.
“Once we get Kendra, we talk,” he stated.
She tipped her head to the side as though considering his words, then she nodded slowly. “Fine.”
Just then her phone beeped. She lifted a finger to him and then dug it out of her pants pocket.
He watched silently as she scrolled through with a heavy frown.
“What’s up?” he asked.
“I’m not sure, but Ace says there are government security operatives all over Lincoln Memorial.”
“What the hell?” Wayne could not believe what he was hearing. “Do they want to sabotage the exchange?”
Emily lifted shell-shocked eyes to him. “I’m thinking they don’t mean for the exchange to take place. They want that prototype, Wayne, and they’re not about to let it fall into the hands of the Chinese.”
The defeat in her voice almost brought him to his knees. He could not do this without her. If there was even a single chance of getting their daughter, then he needed Emily to do what she did best. Come up with a brilliant strategy. And to do that, she needed to rise above the defeat that was threatening to engulf her.
